Pastor its cool, I guess he called himself throwin at me...LOL...its funny cuz he always watchn all New G videos. Personally I loved Draper and wish he was still around...he was definately a Great Choirmaster of our time!
O'landa was the best upon the best there ever was!! He walked in the fullness of his calling, & that is what we as Christians in the Body of Christ should all be doing!!!
i wish this was the whole song. someone had the video of them in the white and gold up here, but as of today it is no longer on youtube. somebody PLEASE find it!!!!
It hurts me so bad that he is gone! there is no telling what leaps and bounds this choir would've had by now if he were still alive! I feel good to know that my city was represented so well by this emaculate man of the cloth! Olanda was smart, kind-hearted, handsome, and spirit-filled! The day is came on the news that he had passed, me and my mom bursted into tears... he is so loved and missed.
True ... Draper was a little more animated, but a director has to have a total package and The Associates vocals could never touch New G's vocals... meaning that its much more to it than waving ya hands kids... you gotta train them vocals and the Associates never had a rich vocal color!
I said that to say, Grammy's or ne other other awards are nice but really dont mean much. They are measurements of accomplishements by "MAN's" standards...The bible says promotion doesnt come from the north or south but from God. To me a Grammy could never measure the greatness of Draper, Dillard, Harvey Lewis ( the originator) or nebody else! These men had effects on peoples hearts that we will never know...
I would have to agree w/ pastorssmith. Ricky is a great director. Butterah....O'landa, I believe is the greatest director. He really communicates w/ his whole body what he wants the choir to do. I'm not dockin' directors who want to jam. Go 'head! BUT! Don't let the jammin' get in the way of what you are supposed to communicate to the choir. (If you understand what I'm saying.) That's my feedback!
This was my first time of hearing about his death. I heard the choir sing wonderful music before but I didn't know about O'lander's death until today. He was such a wonderful talented and blessed man from what I can see from the videos. He was very attractive and good looking. When did he die, and how old was he?
Seeing these videos again have brought back so many great memories. This choir was a family and and anointed group of singers being led by the greatest director in the world! I miss you, my brother and friend, marty
I love Olanda, He was a great composer, and director, very animated, I absolutely love his performance!!! Thanks, this brought back a lot of good God memories
Azusa 1996. The Late Olanda Draper and his choir the Associates shown here after wrecking Azusa 1996 sing their last song of the night! Olanda Draper was truly one of the greatest choir directors of our time, if not the greatest! The Late Olanda Draper was incomparable. His posthumanous Grammy Award was well deserved! I had to give props to one of Memphis' greatetst choirs!

I would have to say that Olanda was the best. Olanda had more personality than Ricky.

With all due respect to Rickey Dillard. Orlanda was at a totally different level!
