What type of brush are you using for the fur, if I may ask? I've been using the default, simple brushes, and the one you use certainly looks better up for the task.
@Tatchit That's probably the rake/comb. It's 5 dots in a diagonal line, very simple. I was also using a bristle brush, which is a circular shape made up of dots, with gaps in between. The default PS brushes aren't great for this kind of visual style. Try looking online for custom made brushes, there are lots out there! Also, I think there are some videos here on youtube that show you how to make your own. I hope that helps!
@shawslayer Good. Ok, it's difficult to know what/if you're doing anything wrong without watching you work. But I know my art got better once I'd understood how to use brushes better. I'd suggest using Shape Dynamics and Other Dynamics in the Brush Window to really make full use of the pressure sensitivity of your graphics tablet. It should help make painting on the computer feel more natural, as though you were drawing on paper.
@MikeNashArt i meant its hard to control the tones. but i guess you have to get used to it with a little more practice. I was also wandering how you learned anatomy(if you did)
@shawslayer Ah, yes it can be. Well your Bamboo tablet has less pressure sensitivity than more expensive tablets, like an Intuos. The current Bamboo has 1024 pressure levels, the Intuos has 2048 levels. The increase in sensitivity should help you blend tones easier. In regards to learning anatomy, use strong reference to draw from - I'm still learning myself.
