Why is the A-League trying to compete with AFL and promote soccer as football? In Australia everyone refers to it as soccer, even people who are die hard fans call it soccer. They should embrace the term soccer and promote the a-league with that, if they try to go up against the AFL they are just going to become unstuck.

I read an article recently about how AFL bogans always tend to pop up in anything to do with Australian Football and try and trash the sport. The author wondered why it's just AFL fans and not NRL or Union fans and why as Football fans don't do anything to warrant such behaviour. In the end he came to the conclusion it has a lot to do with the bully culture that is rife in AFL. Very intersting peice.
