Watching this for the tenth time and every time it makes me even more sad :'( Why did they break up? Just as I was discovering more and more of Rishloo... :( Ain't fair
Their music is decent, But when we saw these guys last summer in Oregon, the lead singer gave my girlfriend Herpes. Feelsbadman.jpg We're waiting for them to hit it big and make some money so we can sue them for spreading disease.
I've heard sicssorlips for the first time about a month ago, now i listen to the entire album every single day in the way to work and in the way back home. Yes its that fucking awsome!
Might I add i've been listening to Rishloo and Tool for many years and I still see no resemblence, they are two unique bands, both amazing at what they do. Stop hatin you jealous faggots, these guys are golden
Comparisons to tool, fucks sake. At least Andrew Mailloux isnt trying to sound like Maynard, unlike some other "metal" bands out there (Earshot was truely awful). There are some similarities to Tool, but more in style than sound. This is to be expected as they are both prog metal bands. I think tool is a little more polished, but Rishloo is totally Indie, so that is only to be expected. IMO romance of a dead kingdom is one of the BEST SONGS EVAR.
What an amazing band! Such need our support so that they can continue making good music. BTW, does anyone know where i can find tabs for this band? I really wan to learn to play 'to tame the temporal shrew'.
This is something Else. Why is it necessary for everyone to copare it to something widely known. This is well written and crafted music. Let yourself be taken!
the only song where they sound like tool is Seven Ring Left... and they sound a lot like Deftones. In El Empe his voice resembles Hansi Kursh's voice (Blind Guardian).. it's a mixture full of win
@Counterweight22 It's a bit funny how bands like The Mayan Factor, Rishloo and Fair to Midland always get compared to TOOL. The only resemblance I can find would be depth of insight, displayed with the lyrics and the music itself.
amazing band they are in the same sounding genre of tool i dont care what anyone else says i know them and know them personally im seein them live march 16 they are badass .remember to inspire
amazing band they are in the same sounding genre of tool i dont care what anyone else says i know them and know them personally im seein them live march 16 they are badass .remember to inspire
if they were "tool wannabees" dont you think the music video would be more artistic instead of shots of the band playing you would have different shapes and figures moving around artistically, tool is one of the best bands out there... this band is progressive. that does not make them tool wannabees. shit audio quality btww...
@Outkast87 Actually the band was interviewes one time and they negated being influenced by tool, They sound similar but what I like is that their music is fresh, is clearly not a copy or a makeover of someone else. Dramatical, intense.
This song doesnt sound like anything from tool... I do think that a couple songs from Terra Fames soud a bit Tool-esque. I dont think that theres anything wrong with that tho
It's the same story as every band that uses djent or polyrhythm's being Meshuggah rip off's, It's just silly. Although it is hugely complimentary to the original bands i.e Meshuggah, Tool as it means that they have created a style so unique that when a band takes influence from them, there's no two ways about it, they are gonna sound similar because there's nohing else that sounds similar!
anyone who says these guys are tool ripoffs are complete dumbasses. It seems like many people who find a progressive band automaticly say their are a tool ripoff cause thats the only prog band they know. Fags...... Rishloo is equally as great as tool though.
@thehumanabstract00 To deny that these guys sound VERY similar to Tool would be stupid. There is a huge difference between ripping off and taking influence from though.
i kept staring at my screen for a minute after the song ended... hehe lol!
very inovative, very intense, very melodic... very awesome!!!
and for all you h8rs out there about all that wannabe shit, well theres a thing called inspiration, well all suck it out from somewhere, there is no such thing as originality, just re defining something you heard, in this case, earlier and smelted into something different! so just listen and enjoy or go the fuck away!
what does it matter if they sound like tool or not? if you think they sound great and you enjoy listening to their music, thats all that counts. disliking a band cause they sound like somebody else is ridiculous
I think that there is a lot at work with this band. I think Drew's voice has tones of Maynard James Keenan, Geddy Lee, Freddie Mercury, and on this song, maybe even some Rodger Waters. He has an amazing vocal range. I think there is a lot of inspiration from Tool, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd, Rush, and Iron Maiden that can be heard in the instrumentals of all of their songs, yet there is something unique to Rishloo's sound that I have not heard in other bands.
Even tool was influenced, maynard and adam have even said that all their music is almost a direct ripoff of king crimson. Are you gonna argue with the band themselves? Ignorant ass kids shouldnt run their mouths like they actually know what theyre talking about. this band is alright. not great. but not bad because they sound similar to whom they were influenced by, so shut your negative mouths and get over your superiority complexes-its pathetic.
Good thing none of the world's greatest bands were ever influenced by other world's greatest bands - Beatles, Rollingstones, Doors, Metallica, Tool,... Good thing they all had earphones when they were born and were never tainted by the sounds of the music of others. These guys are not stealing tunes meant for Tool to publish, they are making their own and they sound great! Listen to their music and permit yourself to enjoy it ,or give way to criticism and miss out on the unique feeling.
You don't hear anyone bitching about a cover song. Let the guys be. So what they were influenced by Tool. You don't ever hear anyone going "Man! The totally ripped off Beethoven!" Maya's right: It's the cycle and evolution of music.
Why do you come to a video to fucking bitch about the band?
Now, this band is clearly Tool influenced, and they are not the only band that are, Tool are a very well known and influencial band. If one band has the sound of another band, it's a compliment that they want their kind of sound, not an insult. Also. do you really think Tools sound is completley original, every band has to get their sound from somewhere.
This is a great song, and if you disagree with me, you can suck my fucking cock!
I really like Rishloo. However, its just evolution of music. Many who have been influenced by the trend setters will progress the genre further and efficiently. It happens. The influence of those who have come before still deserves respect. There is no Rishloo without Tool. Just as there is no Tool without _____...get it? Comparisons are unnecessary.
@Maya730 No Tool with out The Melvins and King Crimson, mainly. Its a cycle, many, many bands have influences from Tool, even mainstream radio music......
His voice is a little(just a fucking little) like Maynards but quite better and more energetic. (Don't get me wrong, I do like Tool) Besides that I see no other similarities whatsoever. Rishloo is amazing.
sweet instrumentals but idk if i can get into it..his voice is very unique to me..but i felt the same way when i heard tool and they became my favorite band..ill give them a try.. anyone know some songs i should listen to by these guys?
After Listening to Eidolon i got feathergun and almost could not believe it was the same band. I think i like feathergun more though, Regardless there both great albums.
LOVE the video and this song, but is there a way you guys could maybe re-upload it now that youtube has improved in their video quality since 2007?? Surely the original you guys have is far better quality than this one. <3 it if you would!
Tool doesn't have a copyright on the "progressive rock" genre. Even Tool's own albums differ WIDELY in sound and scope. Trying to say these guys try to sound like "Tool" shows how litle you actually understand about music. The BIGGEST similarity to Tool and Rishloo are thier singer both being Tenors. Most musicians in rock these days just "artisticly grumble". Thier sound is more attune to Maynards side project A Perfect Circle if you must compare. Their sound resembles a harder Ashes Divide.
Great band and song, sadly the audio quality in this youtube video does not do them justice.
There's so much great prog around, both popular and undiscovered, we can only hope these get signed at some point :P
Until then, we've always got Porcupine Tree, fair to midland, pain of salvation, Tool etc, though none of those have the exact style / sound of rishloo :/
love both bands, but you got to admit that in eidolon they were kinda trying too hard to sound like tool. good thing they ended up sounding like themselves.
Who cares even if they were? People used to always say that Marillion were Genesis copies. I think Tool would take this as a compliment. There's nothing wrong with sounding like another band, especially a great band like Tool.
Fair To Midland lacks a lot of the progressive aspects of this band aKa, they go for a more mainstream sound. I prefer prog, so I like Rishloo a lot more. :)
progressive (art) rock, by definition.. is far closer to Fair to Midland. Look a little beyond mainstream sound, which, by the way, the latter band lacks entirely..
Fair to Midland is way more mainstream, what are you on? All of their songs, even with an art rock influence follow a verse/chorus structure. All their songs are short too. Rishloo has a good mix between more progressive songs and what not (check out Downhill).
i am a huge tool fan and now that i know all the words to pretty much every tools song i have been looking for a progressive rock band (not apc) and i was not sure anyone could be good enough to listen to when comparing to tool but these guys ROCK!
My band played with them at the Viduct in tacoma wa! what a great night .. and a great band! The singer is really nice haha... Didnt really talk to the other guys... They are brilliant!
hey just to let anyone who wants to see them but doesnt live in Washington, oregon, idaho, British Columbia or montana. theyre going on a U.S. Tour of sorts. they will be going to the midwest for sure and maybe further.
Come to Salem soon Rishloo! Bought you're cd's, and wanna get feathergun!!!! hurry hurry! it's nearly time! you there and you there and come to Salem soon!!!!
Great song from a great band. Purchase their album if you like them, it's really worth it, and I bet they need all the support they can get. They also have another album coming out soon. I can't wait!
Watching this for the tenth time and every time it makes me even more sad :'( Why did they break up? Just as I was discovering more and more of Rishloo... :( Ain't fair

progressive (art) rock, by definition.. is far closer to Fair to Midland. Look a little beyond mainstream sound, which, by the way, the latter band lacks entirely..
SuperlatividadAjena 2 years ago
Fair to Midland is way more mainstream, what are you on? All of their songs, even with an art rock influence follow a verse/chorus structure. All their songs are short too. Rishloo has a good mix between more progressive songs and what not (check out Downhill).
You don't know what prog/art rock is obviously.

the video still is a 1/5 because of the missing camerashot showing us his contorted face full of orgasms ... of course i mean the part @ 3:53 ;)
(just kidding .. even its sadly enough for this big song not a 5/5 but still a 4/5) man .. rishloo .. "looking forward to hearing from you"

These keywords are terrible. Better to describe it as Tool and Coheed's gay lovechild.
Love the band, this video is decidedly gay.

Great song from a great band. Purchase their album if you like them, it's really worth it, and I bet they need all the support they can get. They also have another album coming out soon. I can't wait!

This song is great.... The band is great... The singer is great...
BUT!...
The rest of the songs on the CD sound too much like Tool, cause the singer doesn't play around with his vocals as much as he does on this song.
gotmog13 2 years ago
what? I think the only song that sounds like Tool is Omega. The singer is amazing in the whole CD, not like in Terras Fames
