The music is SUPPOSED to be loud, it was a music-replacement video. Everyone knows the cutscene so well, the purpose was to put the new music over the top, and just about hear the original voices.

Well, where is lara's mother now considering that her mother got lost when she pulled out the sword when she was still young?

tomb raider legend was basically based around a mythical place called avalon and that is where lara's mother is. but i got confused about the whole ring/mirror thingy but it looks to me as tho it was some kind of time portal thingy. but yeah her mother is in this place called avalon and so i think that is what the game tomb raider underworld is going to be based around...lol

In TR Legend, on the first level (Bolivia), the second to last cinematic is where Lara is a child and she finds the time portal thing. She pushes in the sword, as Lara did, and then the portal raises up. It doesn't show us whos in the portal though: that's what the whole thing at the end of the time portal is about : )
