Actually, I'm pretty sure guitar hero was famous because it was guitar hero. The first game of its kind. To prove my point, This was in GH3, Guitar hero was well known before then. If you want to think of a song that made GH famous, that would be free bird. But it really didn't.

Studio band?

You might think so from some of the bad quality videos on YouTube, but trust me, when you actually see them there amazing. I watched them at the wolves civic call in November 09 when they were recording there live album. They were amazing, sometimes they can be shit live, but when they're actually using professional equipment and they aren't smashed out of their face (they were still quite drunk, especially vadim, the keyboardist) they can perform really well
