  • Robert W. Morgan was great announcer for all 6 seasons on Solid Gold. His passing late 1998 due to cancer. He will be sadly missed with the family & friends that knew him in early 80's & mid 90's

  • so Amazing to be a teenager back then... I feel sorry for the youth of today... so much crap music now... there was crap then too but now is really bad in mainstream music... Thank god for underground.

  • AMAZING. i used to watch this when i was little (i'm 30 now).

  • @germancelt

    Classic!

  • "She's a Beauty" by the tubes. I love that song. This show put a lot of peopel on the map.

  • 1/6/2011; I love the voice-over guy "Welcome to Soild Gold.." Hey I have an Idea Ted with the Golden voice can do to new show. google him I mean youtube him.

  • @TheBobbiemac That would be the late, great Robert W. Morgan. He did morning drive radio in Los Angeles for years, most notably on Boss Radio 93 KHJ. They didn't come any better, before or since. Sadly, he died of cancer in 1998. RIP.

  • @AZAndrewG Thanks.

  • The executive listed in the credits Al Masini also created Entertainment Tonight and Star Search and died this week at the age of 80.

  • @zachhoran thanx for the info.didnt no who he was but as a very hetero male i sure enjoyed his formula.the only show i drrewled over as much as solid gold was entertainment tonight.

  • Some of the chart positions listed for the songs were higher than they got in Billboard. Faithfully peaked at #12 and was top 10 on their countdown. If they had the musical act on to lip sync the song, a song peaking in even the Billboard 20s or 30s would be in their top 10 countdown.

  • #7 Madness!!!

    Love it!

  • Ok...I know you guys are nostalgic, and I feel ya, especially with the crap they play today "masked as music" but this show wasen't THAT good LOL!! :)

  • I LOVED SOLID GOLD! We used to watch it every Saturday in Barranquilla, Colombia. The music & dancers were great. My favorite dancer was the voluptuous Darcel ♥ She's the main performer dancing to the #6 song - Wanna be startin something by Michael Jackson. Great memories from Curramba la bella!

  • Hysterical!

  • How fantastic, watching this growing up in Australia this show kept us in hysterics and was proof that not all that was American and glittered was actually Gold. Love it.

  • they danced like strippers..

  • @bettydaw1970 - Yeah, cool isn't it!

  • LOL

  • A great show. Wow, I was just 19 years old at the time. I had a crush on Pam Rossi and most of the others. The mighty Robert W. Morgan has been gone for a decade now. We miss you boss jock.

  • For some reason, I always imagined men standing infront of the high kicks of these women and coping it in the groin.

  • "Solid Gold" was my favorite music tv in 80's! I didn't miss it ,every sunday

  • I wonder if there's a computer powerful enough to compute the total amount of ass the male Solid Gold dancers pulled each night? Hot diggety, what I wouldn't do to be in their dancin' shoes!

  • Some of the best talent on TV during this decade. Go Deborah - you are the best!

  • THAT was entertainment with real stars, innovation! Where is this kind of creativity these days?

  • I still can't believe that my parents watched this with me and my brothers on Saturday night. Good Lord, it was awkward!

  • they sure knew how to dance then and were very sexy doing so

  • the 80s were so awesome then i was a child then wish i had been older

  • Oh I know what you mean. I also was a child then, but I wish I had lived my 20's at that time.

  • ALL of the comments you guys have said...I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!! Back then we FELT feminine!! The hair, makeup and style of clothes...they were the days!! Wish I could go back to the 80's and freeze them!! The music was MUSIC!!!! Journey with Steve Perry was and still is my favorite to this day!!!

  • yea i agree, and im a guy. i was 6 years old in 1980, and i am a firm believer in " music as the soundtrack to your life " :)

  • Unfortunately the 90s killed that expression of femininity and sex appeal with bullshit terms like "political correctness".

  • Yep, sucks that women in America want to be men.

  • @germanicelt fortunately, they made up for it by introducing 'preppies' and corporate raiders. ivan boesky was the old school bernie madoff.

  • @germanicelt It had alot more to do with "Alternative music" and the Grundge look. Nobody would watch a show with six dancer with unwashed hair wearing oversized flannel shirts and torn jeans.

  • Ahh my youth! And the dancers kept that all important 12-15 year old male demographic viewing.

  • Some 27 years later and these women still give me a virtual heart attack every time I watch them. GOD they're hot.

  • You said it! Much sexier than anything today IMO.

  • 6:02 to 6:18 ... speechless!

  • yes super performance by Kahea!!!!

  • Solid Gold! In your face (my face)!!!

  • la morena espectacular.

  • You could almost call this the best of Deborah!!!! nice work!!!!

  • words cannot do this justice.

  • My favorite intro and season IMO!!

  • Excellent !!!

  • they're so great!

  • television will never be this good again...ever

  • @WeirdAl68 your are absolutly right I miss tv from the 80's

  • They're super devastating in fuchsia. I loved this show, they had so much power over us...today's women by and large are clueless.

  • gotta love solid gold I miss shows like this

  • Solid Gold Dancers...sexiest women ever !
