I don't care what pickups you say you put in that Strat, theres no way in hell that rhythm guitar sound is coming from that guitar on the take in that video. You might have been playing the same thing but the actual recording was from another guitar at a different time...
@lancerambert No matter what you think I really recorded those guitar tracks with that Stratocaster and Line6 POD 2.0. The post-equalizaton has a big part in the final sound but I still recorded it with that same guitar you see in the video.
@kodoku42 i cant figure why on earth you would use that huitar for that type of tone what a waste of effects, you need to humbucker that shit up,if it sounds like this with single coil imagine what you would have with some humbuckers or active pickups ,come on man!!!!
@METALLICA6547 when will people realize that I used single-coil sized humbuckers (dimarzio fast track 2 on the bridge) although it's true that the video resolution makes it hard to distinguish.
Now that I got that out of my system, humbuckers or not, I too think that this tone was shitty. You should watch some of my newer videos for "better" guitar tones.
@METALLICA6547 true, you never said it. But my days of pod2.0 and makeshift 8 string tuning setup are long gone now that I use a real 8 and pod farm+cab impulses. I still use my Strat in B standard / drop A stuff
Bulbasaur cleared it up on a Metal Injection interview that he did not create the word "djent"; Fredrik Thordendal from Messhugah created it on a message board long ago.
@eskimojoe1 Actually there's humbuckers on bridge and neck position (single coil -sized ones) but you can't quite see them because the picture is shit.
@inthedesert69 Umm... I'm fairly sure meshuggah did this whole thing long before periphery. I love periphery n all, but if you are gonna call all djent periphery ripoff, you'll just end up saying that every band is ripping off whoever influences them. Yes they use similar guitar tone, but that is due to the fact that it has very fast attack and a very fast cutoff which is necessary for playing this type of music and still having it sound clean.
i really like the stuff you wrote the music so you would kno but what you refer to as riff cycles are actually called hemiolas (he-me-o-la) a hemiola is when there a pattern played 4/4 for example but is actually the duration of 5 quarter notes im not sure if that exists in this piece but i just wanted you to know that is what it is called .........GREAT MUSIC VERY INTERESTING
You can map your drums note by note on the midi track in your host program. There's kinda no polyrhythms, just 4/4 timing but with "riff cycles" which break the boundaries of a single or 4/4 sequences. The drum notes are more or less syncopated with the guitar.
Did you film WITH A POTATO?

@BrutalG0re Fast Track 2 at the bridge and Pro Track at neck position. I believe I used a .068 - .014 set on this video.

Good tone out of a Strat, but the riff needs a little work, I think. The last few seconds were pretty cool. Why do we get a blank screen?

I think they should change this style of music from "djent" to PERIPHERY RIPOFF MUSIC.
inthedesert69 1 year ago
Periphery/bulb did not invent this. They just did a good job making it popular.

hemiola is triplets over duplets or vice-versa. what you're talking about is polymetre

how do you do the drum?
alk4h0l1k 3 years ago
that was done with toontrack's ezdrummer/drumkit from hell expansion

ya, but how do you use it? the only way to use it is to copy/paste existing drum stuff.. but how do you make polyrhythmic rhythms?
alk4h0l1k 3 years ago
