  • Johnny and the self abusers were originally eight strong then it mellowed and there were seven it was a totally punk thing then John wrote Pablo and there was a song the rest is tiring

  • bellissima ......

  • cool reminds me of Modern Lovers, Pablo Picasso

  • dude i always thought it was from burning sensations - repo man .duh

  • @kneez73 The burning sensations version is completely different.

  • Great song. Didn't know they had it in them. Too bad they didn't continue to do more songs like this than the boring shite that came later.

  • why didnt they do this at 'live aid'?

  • The Cuban Heels already existed as pretty damn fine R 'n' B band when Milarky left The Self Abusers. He joined the Cuban Heels who were a trio looking for a lead singer at the time. They used to do this song as their set closer. It was a big crowd pleaser.

  • This is the genesis of Simple Minds. John Milarky is singing because he wrote it. Jim kerr is on keyboards. Crap tune. Interesting to listen too though!

  • this is indeed john milarky singing, jim kerr was hovering around this group at the time, kerr talked the band into getting rid of the balding milarky, and changed the name to simple minds, mularky went on to start a band called the cuban heels, they faded out of sight within a few years,a bit like mularky;s hair.

  • keyboards? Jim? ho ho no too bad mate...Great song

  • Johnny and the self abusers?

  • This is John Milarky on vocals......not Jim Kerr

  • At first I thought this was a cover of the Modern Lovers' song, but the lyrics are different.

  • this is very like the sex pistols

  • some of the band left and started up another band called the cuban heels!

  • wow!rarities!

  • Thanks -- this is hilarious!! Love it!!

  • Finally, I get to hear what Simple Minds like before 'Life In A Day' and 'Chelsea Girl'.

  • yeh I'm glad they grew up!
