Actually, Post-Hardcore comes from both metalcore and hardcore punk (Mainly drumming and the open chords)

If you compare Alesana's "When Myths fades to Legends" album to Sum 41's "Screaming Bloody Murder" you can identify that a lot of chords are similar, if not, the same. That is just one concrete example of Punk and Post-Hardcore
