i think if you wanna get more power you should try the thicker power bands the one you got in there is probably strethched and flogged out. do that and this bad boy would haul ass! hahahah

As has previously been pointed out, this is an enduro bike not an out and out motorcrosser. I own and use one of these as a daily ride, they do have a power band which comes it at 5k she'll keep pulling through to over 7.5. This is able to keep up with but not beat XR250's
@ronangti I now have a road legal 200EXC (besides SV650S, K100LT, FZR400, OSET 16, C90, KSR80, ATC70, CRF50, VT250F, Sepia etc) - now that katoom has powerband! The DT, by comparison, does not have one, and that was my point.
Hey, thanks. Every combustion engine has a powerband its just the rev range between peak torque and peak horsepower, most noticeable on quick revving 2-strokes. Some motorcycles have a very narrow power-band depending on tuning, intended use (racing or recreational), personal preference or engine design. The DT175 has a very simple powerplant without fancy powervalves etc so the power delivery is one-dimensional without the rush of power that my RS125 Aprilia for example had.
This design makes if reliable, economical and easy to ride but with enough pep to have fun suspension is the most limiting factor. So compared to a KDX200 it does not feel like it has a powerband though technically it does. Cheers.
Yeah, the DTs are iconic for millions of trail riders, sold this one to a hunter here in NZ for trips into the bush its quiet, low and sturdy enough. Plus it can go up sides of slopes thatd flip a quad. Look forward to getting a DT230 I test rode awesome bike!
Hows the dirt riding there? According to wikipedia only a few hobby-farms still remaining, and precious little natural bushland left.
Yeah they are a brilliant trail bike. I was after a 230 before i had my WR (which was out of reach to me at the time) but never found one for sale. I ended up with a 1994 DT200 which i still own and is a great bike too, and id love to try out a 230. As far as natural bushland and such goes it depends where you are, i live on the central coast of NSW and there is alot of bushland within reach and i live on a property anyway. Having said that its in sharp decline. Lots of desert though lol.
no :) not even close to bending a rim, unless I happen to lend on a sharp rock after a massive jump on Chinese made alloy wheel! Plus these bikes are so light, The frame is more likely to bend 1st anyway. Cheers

@jmjs96 every single bike made has a powerband mate...
goonbagguru 1 year ago
@goonbagguru No it doesn't. A bike with a completely linear power delivery has no 'power band'.
