  • just going by memory, wasn't this newer version produced by Phil Collins (as well as much of his mid to late 80's records)???

I think I prefer this version to his original cover...and certainly better than the original version, too. I thought his original was too over the top "just a guy playing in a blues bar" type sound. this one has a bit of character..yeah, it's full of synths and whatnot, but, it's done well at least.

  • For some reason I want a Michelob....???? late 80s flashbacks.......

  • very good song my friends!!!! I lake

  • clapton is the mothafuckin man!!

  • should have used this one on Miami Vice. Clapton also would have made a great drug kingpin.

    Only enjoyed at max volume.

To hell that original hokey horseshit version.

  • Eric Clapton continuously kicks my ass with his solos. and yessir im high as shit

  • This version is hands down better than the original. Slow funky and grooving like a three disc plow! The mix of everything on this is superb.

  • This one is better than the original.

  • The Original is JJ Cale - and that one is real cool. This sounds good too tho, but the first Clapton cover (the speed up version) sounds silly.

  • this is a damn good remake! done by the Maestro himself! Listen to that full bass line from Nathan East!

  • indeed. this one is my favorite

  • Blows the original version out the water...................frankly, it wouldn't upset me at all if the '88 version WAS the original version.

  • ah! here is the version i was in search of! thanks!:))

  • I always preferred this version. It sounded more like what I wanted to hear while drinking a beer at 1am. The orig version sounded like something to listen to during the day.

  • @232fkz Remember this one was used by Michelob back in 1986 for a couple of there ads!

  • Mr.Slow hand

  • Rember the Michelob beer comercial???

  • agreed. slower is better in this instance... slow hand rocks it.

  • After hearing this slow and steady version of this song, the faster verion makes the band sound like they're all on speed. This version is much much better.

  • definitely awesome version, thanks for posting

  • This has got to be one of my all time favorites from Eric Clapton. He's been one of my favorite artists since his inception into the rock & roll world! One great talent he is. One of the "Guitar Gods" for sure. Thank you Eric for great music.

  • D.T. By AC/DC

  • i just broke my volume knob trying to turn it up LOUDER!

  • Thank you for this video. I guess it's the best Aftermidnight song's version. Of course only God is able to do a version like this ..Ja!!!! Beautiful. By the way does anyone know where to find it ? Eric you're stil the best.

  • @setter132000Yeah!this was so much better!Even though i like both. This is slow and sexy!

  • Phenomenal! The last time I actually purchased something based on a commercial I'd seen on TV was the Michelob/Eric Clapton collaboration. That's all I would drink at jazz clubs or at home for years. God bless Eric Clapton, a legend if ever there was one!

  • to me the best version is the Just One Night version a live version really outstanding, some Clapton detractors state the Clapton had his best day with Cream..but when you listen to this version..Clapton using his words"clean the place up"

  • After midnight baby~~~

  • Makes you want a Michelob Beer !

  • @setter132000 and @quarqill...Agree 100% with both of you!!!!!

  • I love this version, it's more refined, and the lead guitar is strong sounding.

  • Great song! Thanks for posting!

  • What a great version of this song!

  • bobomueller14 hey thx for the response. i will find it at some point and i will send it right over. Peace brother

  • bobomueller14

Peace

  • The 2 people who don't like this video need to get their heads out of their asses.

This was one of the FEW updated versions a songwriter has done that was awesome.

  • the best version of this song , bad ass song as well

  • This version is much better than the original. Screwing your mistress while high to this song is an awesome feeling. Thank you for posting this gem in such HQ.

  • ITS KICKASS

  • I do so love the original bluesy JJ Cale version, but this comes in a very close second.

  • I so love the original JJ Cale version, but, this is also a great kickass version. A little change of pace does work well.

  • is there anything that needs to be said?

  • 3:08

    "We're gonna cause talk and suspicion;

    We're gonna give an exhibition."

When you guys are loved as much as me, your baby will speak her heart through a song too. This shows how precious I am to her. If you ever have this happen, see it for what it is.

  • This is a new song for me. I know Clapton well and I don't why I haven't come across this before now. I'm listening as I type here and I'm wondering if there's a hidden meaning here. Babe, I need to find the lyrics and listen to this again ... I'm bracing myself. Yeah, I know he's English like me, but I'll be damned if I know what he's saying.

  • Eric put more teeth in this version. Love it!

  • My alltime favorite version of this song.

  • Way better than the original version!!

  • @1978chevroletcaprice Agree 100%.The original version is for peasants and rednecks! Hahaha

  • @ssdivizion

    Very true.

This version is for modern day city people

  • please check out my son...named after Eric Clapton...primussux (channel) and theDIMENSIONchannel (channel) originals and covers...guitar player, singer, songwriter...very talented :) thanks:)))

  • too slow !slow hand but great anyway

  • thumbs down button shoots a lightning bolt out of erics guitar in your head

  • i have this policy that, whenever there are multiple versions of a song, i will only put the original on my iPod. this version is forcing me to reconsider that policy. similar dillemma with the song Layla. hell, i'll just get both. Rock on, Eric!

  • their can be no other PERIOD!

  • This is better :)

  • which is better this or the origional?

For me this this song is the exception to the rule. It is actually better then the origional. Where did music like this go?

  • @setter132000 this version by far is the best version of the song. i crank my surround sound up when i pop this gem in or when i play it on a digital jukebox at a bar i tell the baretenders hey u crank it up for that lil wayne shit crank it up because that's clapton playing mother fucker!

  • @setter132000 Hey this one is better its got more too it more soulful sound classic slowhand .

  • @setter132000 this version is by far the better one!!!! much more "eric clapton" to it.

  • Respond to this video... classic eric clapton...play that slowhand eric!!!!!

  • @setter132000 This quality of muscis went away because people settle for much less. Current movies, music, sucks because those that buy it think it's good. If I could sell my turds, I would. And I believe I could. Perhaps I should try Ebay for Etsy.

  • @setter132000 I agree this is better than the fast version, more soul and feel.

  • @setter132000 This is based on JJ Cale's original recording

  • oops.

  • the 1 person who hit the dislike button IS justin beiber

  • @RockoStarrYou thats right oh ya

  • @bobomueller14 HEY DID YOu have any luck with the tab info on after midnight. im trying to locate it myself. if you got info could you send it along to me thx. Peace

  • @jdm7769 No unfortunately i didn't :( i have been looking forever and it seems like it just doesnt exist, which is weird for such a great song hahaha!! but yes if i find anything i will let you know. And hopefully if you find it you'll let me know too!

  • I feel having michelob!!

  • this version is way better than the original !

  • kick ass

  • nothing against the speed up version but this one is the best.

  • My favorite version of this song.

  • its a beautiful song, the artist's original song is JJCale.

The song "Cocaine" also belongs to JJ Cale.

  • goed

  • hands down the best version of this song. so much more grit and balls to it!!! i crank up my surround sound when i play this or when it comes on the radio.

  • @bobafettfan32

Agree 100%. Clearly the best version.

  • I grew up listening to this music. Im 30 now, but my dad loved eric clapton and played it all the time on his record player, lol dang old right. they call erci clapton "slow hand" I hope one day to see him in concert, that truly would be bad ass

  • I'm sure the money he made from the deal smoothed over any guilt. He's had substance problems for 40 years. Be that as it may, I agree with you 105%. This is the best version I've heard.

  • I remember how much controversy this caused..because he had quit drinking after a stint at Hazelten rehab clinic shortly before this released and used in the Michalobe Beer commercials. GREAT version.

  • Not withstanding the fact he sold it to Michelob I still like this version better than the original. Nice blusey feel with a lot of flavor.
