Hey Denis! I was just wondering if you've got a discount thing going on for when you purchase several products! I'm a student, and I'm really wondering about what to get to get into the basics of gypsy swing. Stochelo is my favourite gypsy guitarist by far, and I'd love to get my base from him!
Been wondering about buying a few books too, but I don't really know which ones contain the most material in the best manner.
You're a great gypsy guitarist yourself! Any ideas? :P
it's a tune called Latcheben, written by his grandfather, it's on the rosenberg trio CD called Gypsy Swing (not to be confused with gypsy summer)... it's played at 1:57 in this video
it's done on purpose so as not to speed up like many do when using the wrist only... the wrist is more important on faster tempo so as not to slow down
The other guy is Dennis Chang, a fantastic gypsy jazz guitarist. Where would I be without his tabs, you say? I think I'd be stuck somewhere inside some online multiplayer game wallowing away. Dennis is likely horrified beyond imaging ( in a good way ) because he is sitting next to Stochelo himself. I give Dennis credit for not bursting into flames from just sitting near Mr. Rosenberg. Either way, both are gods to me <3
Stochelo didn't remember the song when Denis first suggested playing it. It took him about 5 min to relearn it and then they nailed it in 2 takes. All the crew members were stunned when they performed it. It's not just chops. SR has an amazing musical memory. I love the lateral movement of the middle finger in the lick.
Django would be proud...

Stochelo is magic. The rhythm player needs to work on his technique. The much elbow movement. Little stiffness there.

@cminor7b5 I'm incredibly jealous you guys got to hang out with Stochelo, let alone watch him play guitar from like two feet away for hours on end.
