Nicely explained! And there is nothing but good sounds coming from your larynx! What is your usual key? And how do you find it? I don't sing when I play because I can never find a key for folk songs that seems to fit a bass voice!

Well, this isn't my key, but I can reach it. I usually sing in C, D or E. If you have a low voice, these keys will probably work for you, too. It depends on the song, though. There are others that I sing in G & A and would be unable to sing in other keys. When a guy has a low voice, he will usually sing in the same key as a woman with a high voice, but an octave lower. This is a general rule. So if other guys who seem like they have a higher voice than you sing in G, you might try D.

You made me laugh! I cannot sing this high comfortably. I did the song in G for the sake of being able to show the runs. My students and I have a running joke that when I die, someone will hear the hundreds of song examples on my computer that are not in my key and will say "she sure couldn't sing!"
