Day 1 of boxing: first they teach you how to stand, then they teach you to throw a jab with your fist rotating and your shoulder up to protect your jaw.
still got some expose to the head why not punch while at the same time change your head position either to the right or left or even to the back.see how bruce lee punch when he punch his head in not in a fixed poistion.
Sure way to break your hands in a fight because you will hit with the pinky knuckle if you punch that way. The small meta carpal bones behind the pinky break at 3psi (much less than a punch). Also, I don't like the elbow position from the over-rotation - could lead to lock out the elbow joint and possible injury.
the one thing you didnt say is that it doesn´t work if your attacker has longer arms than you.....because in that case i guess a kick on the nuts would get the job done.
you might wanna just take em down immediately if you have the reflexes that would require. considering you already have a speed intuition and reaction advantage just do what will disable them the fastest instead of risking taking a hit.
it is still posible to hit the person when they "corkscrew" their punch and if the arm gets hit it loses its force and changes its direction which has an impact on damage. And the obvious is under hits such as body shots or uppercut, etc.
This is pure bullshit... What if he hits low with the left arm? And what if he saw this vid too? Haha no serious this isn't working in a real fight, trust me ;)
This theory is good but i honestly wouldn't recommend it because even though you are defending your head, you leave you underarm open. You might not think that it's a big deal but if you get hit hard there hard enough then your arm is done with for that fight and it is also possible to KO someone by hitting the under arm. Im not saying this techniques isn't effective but i would do it.
I like to share my philosophy on fighting. Only fight in tournament, in gym or paid venue...else, walk the FUCK AWAY! If life or death situation, pull out the small pistol that should be in your pocket and shoot attackers in the bladder. Thank you for reading.
@deviIstudios why would you ask the difference between one martial art and another by using the very medium that could answer that question directly if you were but to ask it ? :) its like an infinte regress of laziness, information becomes more available and we scale back our initiative to accomodate it. I had a guy ask me on a forum if there was a train station near to where I was delivering my martial arts seminar. USE THE INTERNET!!! lkjsdflkjdslkfjsdlkjfdslkjfds... sorry, cyber rage :)
@MrWillb2010 "R" is silent in Brazilian Joojitsu. "Royce" is pronounced hoyce...ya. "Rorion" is pronounced "whore i an."
Thus, when fighting Brazilian Style in tournament, when talking shit to opponent, rather than say "Fuck you Mother Fucker" when choking them out, instead say "Fuck you Mother Fuck."
It's a good boxing technique. Every fighter should learn boxing.
If you are a true warrior, even boxing is enough to win most fights. As long as you keep your head up and keep throwing punches you will probably win if you are a focussed and determined warrior. Don't waste punches but don't just block and hide your head, then you are fucked. You need to move your legs, evade with angles. Exchange whilst deflecting most of the opponents attack. Make your defense your attack. Just finish them off..
We use the corkscrew in Libré Fighting, but we throw our elbow out more, this deflects straights better, damages the attacker's hook, and also keeps your first two knuckles on target. Most of the power in your punch comes from body mechanics though, so as long as you've got proper body movement and hip rotation you'll get good power.
nothing wrong realy i see but i do see i can break your elbowsif you punch with your pinkies up..secondly if this is jujitsu why back off? close distance throw or break somthing. you should tie up the guy off first or second punch. ( grant its a one on one)
There is always a weakness to every technique. Most guys in the U.S.(at least) don't know how to fight, so anything works..well almost. Just train in SOMETHING so that it becomes muscle memory (10,000 reps makes you an "expert", according to tradition).
@emulare11 I think people see this in slow-motion and say: OH THERE'S A HOLE HERE, HERE AND HERE, then forget that these techniques are going rapidly and against people who generally don't know how to fight. And I think American guys (which I am one), the problem is in our philosophy. We're gearing ourselves up more for sport than we are in the MARTIAL sense, where it's pivotal to fight as if your life is at stake.
This is My Vid guys, check out MMA4SelfDefense com see all my Fights, Submissions, Instructional Vids, Interviews with UFC Fighters, Kali Stick and Knife Fighting etc.
hi im karate black belt, and im more than 15 years of jiu jiutsu experience practice, also im a ex karate champion, and really thats technique is a stuppity technnique. im suggest try to undestand a anatomy of your fits, becose the way of you put your fits.... could cause to you a injury.... im repeat im multiples championship fighter and that technnique is very questionable....!
This is for the initial confrontation, and you intercept his long hook/overhand/haymaker with the corskrew punch....hitting him first, connecting down the center, but with added benefit that his punch will be intercepted by the combination of your arm, and your hit landing which dissipates the power of his punch.
i not trying to be neagative about this video but yes you can use these moves on people who dont know how to fight but if you fought someone who did know how to fight i dont mean like ganster stuff i mean acctully fight then the move that you use would end up hurting you as you twist your arm to hit him he can easly grab it and break your arm
Hahaha, dude, you just reminded me of my father. He's a big fellow - about 6 foot tall (183 cm), with some 275 pounds (125 kg) and has trained martial arts since he was 14, and was in the army's 63 padobranska (paratroopers/special forces). He likes to watch sifus or self-defense experts showing "moves and tricks" and then going: "I'd like to see him try that shit on me!". The sad thing is, if a guy that size attacks you, even with less training, your screwed :)
lol mate.. dunno where you're from but 6ft isn't that tall ... :S.... most of my mates are taller than me and most people I know are as tall as me. I'm 6ft 2".
Also, if he's 275lb of mostly fat - that won't give him THAT much of an advantage. He'd be slower and less coordinated than someone say at 190lbs of well placed muscle.
Firstly the idea of covering behind your shoulder / upper arm is well established in boxing so nothing new. This is not a problem - absorb what is useful yada yada yada...
However if you connect with someone's face with your wrist fully twisted in that way I think you are at a serious risk of damaging, even breaking your wrist.....not a risk I'd like to take ... ever.
@bigmhh then this technique would not be used because it is designed to block your chin along ur jaw line to the temple. search for a body shot defense i recomend, position your arms hanging loose to the ground, keep your elbow against your body and raise your fist like ur flexing ur biceps down on the side to block a body shot, its the fat and muscle and stuff around ur elbox when positioned that way to block a punch.
@bigmhh and once you have block the punch to ur body right after stike with the same hand you blocked, if farmiliar with wing chun or jkd we trap ur oponents opposite hand thats probably kept by the chin while he strikes with the other ur basiclay blocking with the hand on the side the blow is coming and ur other hand grabs his other hand and presses it against his stomach then after blocking right away strike now since his other hands trapped u have an open strike
I saw a clip with Bas Rutten and I can't think of the other guy, he trains a lot of UFC fighters, has his own camp, fought sometimes too, but he punched like that on the regular, saying it helps block your chin (Bas asked him why he turned his hand all the way over)...I'm not really into punching like that, seems really un natural to do that, would rather keep my chin tucked and throw the punch normal, I don't see that rotation helping very much...
martial arts only works if you can keep calm in violent situations otherwise you wont be able to control your body enough to do complicated sequences.
Really only seems practical with an opponent that's the same height or smaller. Someone taller or with longer arms is gonna get excellent contact with your head otherwise.
@anqe Probably not because vs. a taller opponent the angle of the corkscrew punch will be upwards rather than horizontal. It's likely you'll take some contact from a punch but it'll deflect alot of the force from it while they take the full brunt of your hit.
hasnt anyone noticed that you prob still get a smack in the head?also your gunna fuck you wrist up.for this to work you gotta be in quick so why not just block and save the trouble?
@BALAHAWALA Oh you mean block like they do in karate? Yeah that's really gonna work in a real street fight. Tell me how many street fights have you been in and successfully used karate style blocks? lol
@DriftProXL what are you on?i mean as in any sort of block which is jujitsu, kung fu and yes karate.obviously they work... otherwise they wouldnt have it in martial arts which have been around for thousands of years and which would have be tested in battles an fights.and i have seen blocks used in street fights and i tell you what id use a block than this stupid move
wouldnt you?its so silly you may as well just do nothing and let the attacker smash you in the head.
This is my vid, hope you enjoyed it, ww. MMA4SelfDefense com to purchase the 2 Hr DVD, Keep in mind there are lots of options in different situations and the vids should be viewed all together for a full understanding. I've been training 24 yrs with TOP guys, bounced 13, had some real street experiences, fought top MMA Fighters etc. I'm also an Actor and Stuntman, in Couples Retreat and have doubled Stallone!
planning on staring jujisu with my daughter purely as a an active pastime but watching these videos just fills me with confidence that my girl wont become a bully but wont allow herself or her friends to be a victim. my girl is 6 years old and restraint is as much a big thing for mr as defence and this seems perfect.
Yeah, your body's open, but if if you hit the opponent in the face (especially the nose, chin, and temple), it's gonnaa do a hell of a lot more damage than you taking a body shot. I'd take a body shot over getting decked in the face any day. Besides, if you're in that sort of stance or something similar. You'd be able to hit your opponents face before he lands a body shot.
You can get a lot of power with similar techniques. If you time a overhand left (look at lennox lewis teach Chris Eubank this type of jab) as an untrained opponent throws a right hook you can effectively block his shot and counter at once. Its a hard fucking punch, I've dropped someone in sparring with it.
this might work in a street, fight but no one swings so openly that i've seen and it's fine if you don't want to spend time learning any actuall defense
well, from my experiences, shots to the chin knocks someone out faster than the temple, because with the chin, you're making there head bobble, causing the brain to shake more, shots to the temple makes the whole head move, so it helps with not getting your head spanked around, but otherwise if i'm sure somebody is going to punch me, then the chances are, i've already hit them.
bad video....bad advice...people do not follow ....n this is coming of 6yrs of tae-kwon do..2yrs boxing..2yrs of wrestling n 1 yr of mma....so i think i would kno
this theory could get some guy killed in a street fight! such bad advice! if you where to do this to defend yourself from someone who you are SURE is about to punch you in the chin this COULD work, but i don't think that i would want to take a wild ass haymaker from some guy who does knuckle push-ups to MY temple! shit! acknowledge other people intelligence!
ok muay thai is great for the street and ring. still it doesn't transfer the body mass as in a wing chun punch, see the vid for wing chun australia. as an ex bouncer I'd rather have power.
for everyone complaining that "oh, he'd get hit in the ribs"- yeah, i guess that could be true... but then again, they're getting punched in the face at the same time! plus how many street fights have you seen that ended with a blow to the body. i haven't seen any so far. and this guys teaching to defend your face, its not like he expects you to Only do this. there are obviously techniques for defending the body as well as the head, he's just showing a good way to attack and defend at same time
I think it's interesting and can work in some situations especially when fighting wild unskilled fighters on the streets. Of course it's not going to work with all attacks though. No single block does.
Jujitsu is a defend sport he should defend the punsh and giff a hit. Also he should not raise his feet becaus that will decrease his power and balance.. Please learn the people good ore not.
This is clearly stated for the opening of a street fight? When's the last time someone tried a socker body punch on you? Most through over hand Gorrilla punches, and if you can't take 1 body shot you better just run already.
1. I like to fight - Do the business. = Punch 1st &hard - knockout or weapon. Got skills? Try to use them now. Counters r irrelevant.
2. Good at ma & could defend myself = Could do ok but could get into deep water if dealing with 1. Lives on ego( most of us).
3. No experience at all or lots. Not a good fighter and knows it. OR very experienced & knows the consequences. Most are part 2 & 3. If that's you brag as much as you like BUT stay away from street fights. I'm a 3.
How the hell are they going to hit you in the ribs if you're simulatenously striking them in the face? while at the same itme keeping your face blocked.
Hey Guys, this is my video, I hope you like all my videos on here. Look up "Dan The Wolfman" and go to w.DanTheWolfman com .Teach at Muay Thai Academy in North Hollywood, Ca. I've trained many martial arts for 23 yrs, MMA w/ many of the world's best fighters/grapplers for 13 yrs, survived 2 on 1 stick attack, and 10-1 fight. Plus 13 yrs of bouncing and fighting two UFC #1 Contenders gives me Real World Understanding. I do Acting and Stuntwork as well, once doubling Sylvester Stallone. Cheers!
Your forward two knuckles do pertrude farther do they not? what diff. does the plane make? Of course you condition and watch out for boxers hand 5th medicarpol, I know all that. I also do some straight blasting using bottom knuckles too, as well as Russian style punches with the foreknuckle side.
We like the theory and application but think maybe u wind a the wrist to much, and this makes the punch connect more on the last 2 knuckles, instead of the first 2.
That is one hell of a video. Fast effective and well structured. Perfect initial response technique for the streets and I suppose for the ring. Thank you for posting. Your video will help me to perform the bridge punches from my own system better. Thank you for posting.
Hello guys, this is my video, I am known as Dan "The Wolfman" Theodore and I hope you liked it. I teach Combat Jiu-jitsu, MMA, Kickboxing, and 10th Planet Jiu-jitsu/No Gi BJJ under Eddie Bravo at Blue Dragon/10th Planet Burbank, Ca. I also do acting/stuntwork, and once stunt doubled Sylvestor Stallone! I've trained many styles for over 22 years, fought in Japan three times, fought two UFC #1 Contenders, and trained with tons of top UFC stars.Bouncing+Survived 10 on 1 and 2 on 1 Stick attack
Hey guys, this is my theory, no one has ever shown me this but I believe it makes alot of sense for the beginning of a confrontation! Check out my MMA highlight and Submission videos, Dan Wolfman MMA Submission etc.

BALAHAWALA 1 year ago
i think it's a very clever way of defence...(combine with attack) timing and urge of fighting back also counts.

alright, exactly which martial art would be the best for handling an everyday fight in the streets? Would it be a combination of more than one?
cambam619 2 years ago
@cambam619 Combat Jujitsu, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu - In that order.

planning on staring jujisu with my daughter purely as a an active pastime but watching these videos just fills me with confidence that my girl wont become a bully but wont allow herself or her friends to be a victim. my girl is 6 years old and restraint is as much a big thing for mr as defence and this seems perfect.
MrFudge2511 2 years ago
but its up so high easy to get a good body shot in good idea but very iffy
loui3333 2 years ago
Yeah, your body's open, but if if you hit the opponent in the face (especially the nose, chin, and temple), it's gonnaa do a hell of a lot more damage than you taking a body shot. I'd take a body shot over getting decked in the face any day. Besides, if you're in that sort of stance or something similar. You'd be able to hit your opponents face before he lands a body shot.
Mrmagiccity27 2 years ago 2
he's not defended really well.Not useful .
kokushinka 2 years ago 2
and that punch has no power thats why boxing doesnt use it
oceanside1322 2 years ago
You can get a lot of power with similar techniques. If you time a overhand left (look at lennox lewis teach Chris Eubank this type of jab) as an untrained opponent throws a right hook you can effectively block his shot and counter at once. Its a hard fucking punch, I've dropped someone in sparring with it.
Jackthestripper 2 years ago
oh 4real yea ive knock people on there as with just a quick jab
oceanside1322 2 years ago
and thats how yu avoid a bjj fighter bynot letting him get close enough and dont rush at him lthim slip come to you
oceanside1322 2 years ago
Not useful against multiple opponents, but quite ok against only one
0DemonKiller0 2 years ago
if theres more then one then im getting the strap lol
oceanside1322 2 years ago
yea but u didnt really come up with that, thats done in boxing with every punch
TommyVercetti08 2 years ago
this might work in a street, fight but no one swings so openly that i've seen and it's fine if you don't want to spend time learning any actuall defense
pawnshopr 2 years ago
well, from my experiences, shots to the chin knocks someone out faster than the temple, because with the chin, you're making there head bobble, causing the brain to shake more, shots to the temple makes the whole head move, so it helps with not getting your head spanked around, but otherwise if i'm sure somebody is going to punch me, then the chances are, i've already hit them.
baronisthesick333 2 years ago
yeah but the temple is hit very correctly can kill

this was exceptionally painful to watch because i have a VERY LARGE HEAD that i would protect in a fight!
newplanet15 2 years ago
this theory could get some guy killed in a street fight! such bad advice! if you where to do this to defend yourself from someone who you are SURE is about to punch you in the chin this COULD work, but i don't think that i would want to take a wild ass haymaker from some guy who does knuckle push-ups to MY temple! shit! acknowledge other people intelligence!
newplanet15 2 years ago
Yeah, he'll miss my chin but he'll hit me in the temple I might just get knocked out... Hmm, great idea there...

ok muay thai is great for the street and ring. still it doesn't transfer the body mass as in a wing chun punch, see the vid for wing chun australia. as an ex bouncer I'd rather have power.
rahetlan 2 years ago
for everyone complaining that "oh, he'd get hit in the ribs"- yeah, i guess that could be true... but then again, they're getting punched in the face at the same time! plus how many street fights have you seen that ended with a blow to the body. i haven't seen any so far. and this guys teaching to defend your face, its not like he expects you to Only do this. there are obviously techniques for defending the body as well as the head, he's just showing a good way to attack and defend at same time
nateisgreat1134 2 years ago
I think it's interesting and can work in some situations especially when fighting wild unskilled fighters on the streets. Of course it's not going to work with all attacks though. No single block does.
tman229 2 years ago
This guy don't know what he is saying
Jujitsu is a defend sport he should defend the punsh and giff a hit. Also he should not raise his feet becaus that will decrease his power and balance.. Please learn the people good ore not.
Soprant92 2 years ago
If you fight with a boxer, you will not see his punchs!!! He is very fast. This is the truth
amantedelcalcio 2 years ago
This is clearly stated for the opening of a street fight? When's the last time someone tried a socker body punch on you? Most through over hand Gorrilla punches, and if you can't take 1 body shot you better just run already.
DanTheWolfman 2 years ago
Street? 3 mind sets:
hellmoth 2 years ago
How the hell are they going to hit you in the ribs if you're simulatenously striking them in the face? while at the same itme keeping your face blocked.

Your forward two knuckles do pertrude farther do they not? what diff. does the plane make? Of course you condition and watch out for boxers hand 5th medicarpol, I know all that. I also do some straight blasting using bottom knuckles too, as well as Russian style punches with the foreknuckle side.
DanTheWolfman 3 years ago
From a Jujitsu perspective .
We like the theory and application but think maybe u wind a the wrist to much, and this makes the punch connect more on the last 2 knuckles, instead of the first 2.
Good vid.
SudoJudo1 3 years ago 3
This guy is setting people up to break their lower knuckles. You always try to have your big knuckles up.

That is one hell of a video. Fast effective and well structured. Perfect initial response technique for the streets and I suppose for the ring. Thank you for posting. Your video will help me to perform the bridge punches from my own system better. Thank you for posting.
