This is why I wish that I could have lived back then! I had so much fun performing in this show, and it is truly one of my favorite musicals of all time. If it ever came on Broadway, "Mame" would be #1 on my list of Broadway Shows I have seen, even though it wouldn't be as glorious as it was back then. I think all past Broadway shows with their original casts should have been taped so that future generations will see what Musical Theater was like back then. What a treat! Thank you!!
I saw this production three times and even though it had a bus and truck production feel. Ms. Lansbury was breathtaking. The excitement during the title song was incredible. She is a gem.

I was the Wardrobe Supervisor of this production and absolutely loved the show. The producers never gave the show the proper publicity to give it a chance to survive. Angela was devastated. She had worked so hard to get into tiptop shape for the revival and looks fantastic! She broke down while singing "My Best Girl" on closing night. It broke my heart....

@pfessas OMIGOD. Andreas singing If He Walked Into My Life is heaven. She needs a role worthy of her talent. What a gorgeous woman with a voice to match. Actually Christine Ebersole is a better choice.

swmyers7 - it's not so much a question of sacrilege as that we *really* wish Angela had been tapped to do the movie with Bea as they did on stage together. I also enjoy the Lucille Ball performance, but nobody has a set of pipes quite like Angela!
I'll admit to having never before seen Angela Lansbury performing Mame. For me, Lucille Ball's movie version will always be my favorite (I know, sacrilege for the Lansbury-set). But I can see the appeal and this was a great performance. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see it.
