  • This song is AWESOME!!!! Hollies FOREVER!!!!!!!

  • @ILOVEJIMMYMcCULLOCH1

    Amen.

    :D

  • thanks love the sixties :-)

  • @top401966 Me too! :D

  • The Twilights recorded their version in the Abbey Road Studios when they went to England in late 1966.They were promised that The Hollies were not going to release their version as a single but when it looked like The Twilights were likely to have a hit The Hollies'record company reneged so airplay was spread across 2 competing versions and neither band had the big hit-pity.

  • Yes, thank you, I understand that, but I listened to the words carefully, and it seems to refer to a particular person in a particular job. I was wondering if he was a soldier, a spy, a cop, a tax agent, someone who worked at Downing St or what? Just that there's particular reference made to an individual.

  • I'd love to know what this song is about, whom it refers to and was it ever used in a movie?

  • @ozcobblepot218

All is on these words: "People should ive their lifes, leaving me to mine".

It's about freedom, peace and love.

It's about being what you are, and what you wanna be.

    WE ARE HUMANS, NOT MUPPETS

WE HAVE TO BE FREE AND INDEPENDENT

Idon't know if the song was in a movie, but it is a "master peace".

    :-)

  • l love this tune. Excellent video. Thanks for share.

  • the stones and beatles are just milk, the HOLLIES.....BUTTER!!!!!! tks for sharing this song, OmHaver

  • Well i think those three groups are differents kinds of BUTTER, hahahaha, just as The Beach Boys, Doors, CDR, Searchers, Zombies, etc. i love them all!

Thanks to you, it's a pleasure sharing these music treasures

  • Yep .. one of their best. Love the lead vocal .. love the banjo backing & middle riff. As a byline, for 60s fans .. an Australian Band of some repute, named The Twilights, did a most creditable cover of this song. They mostly wrote their own material .. but did a good job on this cover-version too. But nothing beats this Hollies original - especially with Nash still on board .....

  • Yes, this song has an incredible energy, and the words are fantastic, as the voices and instrumental arrangements. Hollies for ever! Thanks for your comment.

  • Great track...great album

    Jim
