i'm sorry, but she's a little bit sloppy. i've seen a better version, so i can't say i'm impressed with this variation. marianela nunez still tops as the best odette solo out there. but i have to say that vishneva's arms are very fluid, but they're so scary thin.
I've seen Diana perform O/ O twice, my fav O/ O by far. Aside from minor complaint with barely there sissones, this variation is beguiling because her Odette isn't a mere, vulnerable swan queen, but also a passionate, hopeful one. Unlike many Mariinsky Odettes, she doesn't just do the steps, you sense her pathos, longing in not just her face but also in technique, transition/ linking steps, the emphatic ways in which she moves her head/ neck/ torso in phrasing and to accent the music.
Diana Vishneva is one of the few ballerinas I’ve seen who actually does the opening passage the way it’s supposed to be done; a double ronde de jambe ending with a high developpe a la seconde. Many ballerinas cheat on this step because it’s so difficult and so exposed. If you screw it up, everyone can tell. She’s got a lot of technical security to back up that expressiveness. I love watching her.
@rainbow4life68 Well obviously! One has been given the title of prima and the other hasn't. Not to mention one was taught in the US while the other in Russia! But I don't think you should down Murphy. You can't deny, she has talent
.I think of all the balerinas I have seen dance Odette , Diana seems very sensual and Its not a bad thing....no no no ! I think its refreshing and this makes Odette more real for me , , Not just 2 dimensional This would make any hetro man /prince want to save her . This is My fav White Swan, BTW , M Nunez is my favorite Blk Swan
It seems that her tutu doesn't fit her body well. That makes me feel twitchy...

zakharova is wayyy better then her in my opinion(:

@chickensrkool16 well zakharova is the goddess of this role and vishneva was temporarily filling in! ;)

@chickensrkool16 But this isn't Zakharova. There's no need to compare. Just say whether or not you liked it. It's unecessary.

I'm not convinced by her over emoting and dramatic face ... something seem false to me.

Diana is much better than the over-hyped Gillian Murphy.

@rainbow4life68 Gillian is such joy to watch! And I admit this despite being russian and big fan of Diana who is the Dancer of the century.

wow does she have double jointed shoulders?

@4willsey4 There's no such thing as double jointed anything. She's just very flexible and her bones are visible.;-)
