  • @amazingdany, Jesus would say to you if you paid bail, "Let me do what God sent me here for. I have to suffer on the cross for you, to take your sins opon myself."

  • And look at ´this Child as your Own ... Let an ear hear...

  • there would also have been masses of flies..attracted by the blood ,vomit, urine and faeces especially in the heat of the middle east.. It would have been a very stinking spectacle to behold. Birds would also attempt to peck at the bodies. Flies eggs would turn to maggots within 2 days in the week long exposure.. Wild dogs would also feed on the lower extremeties.

  • |Joseph Mawle's acting on the cross was so fantastic I cried

  • How come in all these crucifixion scenes, you don't see swarms of flies buzzing around Jesus' face, crawling all over his bare sweaty skin? Did he use bug repellant?

  • @donjaundemichael. No it was not. He was quoting the old testment from Elijah. When Christ became sin to die for us, God could no longer look upon HIm because God hates sin. The darkeness came at noon that day and he cried out My God My God, why has thou forsaken me was cocerning did God forsake him now that HE was doig HIS will.

  • VAYA PAÑALITO XDDD

  • I would've posted bail to get Jesus out.

    He probably would've said:

"Thanks, very nice of you, young stranger and I have to refuse as it is not part of my Father's plan. Thanks anyway!"

  • Jesus is buff

  • @predalien47 A construction guy's gotta be.

  • I find the film 'The Pianist' a far more moving example of cinema because its a true story. Still this story is quite good.

  • bbc parody.....i was expecting something better.....

  • I do not like this scene. It was not true concerning Jesus saying "No more" when the roman was checking on his vital signs before preparing to break his legs. The only indication Jesus showed the world of his suffering on the cross was when he said" I thrist" and he was given vingear to drink. Why do movies add in stuff that was not true?

  • @Moseukimob "why have you forsaken me" is ample indication of the suffering.

  • @Moseukimob "No more" is essentially the same as "It is finished."

  • Why Did'nt they have Jesus say "Truly I tell you Today, You will be with me in paradise"?? I love the accuracy of the crucifixion but the upright was to remain permanantly in the ground?? Joseph Mawle is an excellent actor.

  • I think that joseph is an awesome actor!!he acted this bit out very well. It made me cry, it was very convincing!

  • i fink they used straps 2 attach him to the croos but im not sure

  • There are several different ways people were crucified.Hands tied, feet nailed..or vice-versa.I tried it both ways.

  • For all its faults, i find Mel Gibsons version more powerful when it comes to the scenes on the cross, each version has its merits however.May God forgive us for our sins.

  • Sorry - I asked that twice as I realised the first question sounded pretty daft! (they used nails!!) :)

  • I'll bet - this was really harrowing. How did they manage to 'nail' the actor to the cross without using ropes?

  • @tarynfire They had a horizontal 'peg' for the actors to sit on and some kind of harness or straps under the loincloths to keep them from sliding forward and falling off. Without these the actors would bend forward like an archery bow and they would need ropes at the wrists and ankles to keep from falling off. Ask cruxguy 3 posts above yours he knows this for a fact.

The Romans would strip the crucified naked and seat them astride an upright stake. Intolerably painful and obscene.

  • @EdM021 The condemded would have been nailed up completely naked to enhance the shame.. The anus would have been impaled on an animal horn or nail connected to the stipes..this would inflict more pain and humililiation as well as to prolong life to the full extent of the punishment.

  • @feckintoad Exactly. Whether it was an animal horn or a stake shaped like one or even like an actual dildo, it was the impalement aspect that was mandatory in any crucifixion back then. It was actually the stake that the Romans called the name 'crux', from which the T-gallows that supported it got its name... and in time became the Cross.

  • @feckintoad (cont'd) Of course, with the impalement aspect it no longer meets the modern, that is, Christian definition of crucifixion which is merely a nailing to a cross. And if you show Jesus impaled the screams will never stop reaching the limits of the Universe. Crazy world...

  • I don't blame you - this was really harrowing stuff. How did they manage to 'attach' him to the cross without using ropes?

  • i hated watching this coz its my cousin (jesus) and me, my mum and my aunt were in floods of tears

  • me as well but he is such a good actor.

  • I cant watch this again just to moving, it shows how good joseph mawle s acting is to bring you to tears, love him
