I watched this when i was 11, and it didnt scare me to be honest, i love this film, and i love linda blair. she is an amazing person:) i love you linda:D
This movie made me cry i was so scared it was so good and no one deserved what linda got after the making of it it wasnt her fault she was an amazing actor
Neat little film i actually met Linda Blair about 10 years ago and she was a very approachable gracious lady she even gave me a peck on the cheek and a hug!!
can any tell me clearly that why did she become involved in drugs..?what did the commentator say at 1.49..exactly? she maintained....i couldnt get it can some 1 please write and elaborate thanks.
To be,unfortunately, typecast after your acting debut,& at such a young age must have been awful.Could she have returned to her modeling career?I doubt it,which agency would've taken her? In fact, anything other than acting would have been impossible,I guess. She could only have ever appeared in horror films, she couldn't have been cast as the 'sweet, cute kid'.Seems THAT was the 'curse' of The Exorcist for Linda! Anyone recall "Re-possessed",the spoof horror film she made, lol?
Linda Blair is an Amazing Human Being. It's crazy to even think that she was evil in anyway. Just look at all the great things she has done for all the Animals she has rescued over the years. For someone to over come all this scrutiny n remained to keep her dignity intact n kept strong is, in my eyes, a real life Angel. We need more people just like her in this world. She devotes her whole time into what she is so passionate about, she deserves more recognition n more films.
I have more respect for Linda than before - which I didn't think would be possible, as I am already such a big fan. I really feel terrible for her because of what she went through because some freaks couldn't separate her from the film - and that it traumatized her to the extent that she never has had children because of the fear that the experience instilled in her. I think she's a great person, has done great work and deserved more of a career.
Just goes to show how many people in the world have seen or heard of the Exorcist. She is a beautiful woman and I just love her voice, and she does have lots of talent.
Ya but it did contribute very negatively to her life. Her parents had no clue what they were setting her up for by allowing this. Hope parents generally will be more mindful. I always wondered happened with her, she was so pretty she could have been a great leading lady or like some make a few solid bucks and get out of show biz for something more private. Imagine, she was affraid to have kids from this public treatment she got. If that isn't damage, what is?
I have to give Miss Linda Blair a lot of credit for turning her life around. It's terrible about the whole drug scandal, but nobody is perfect and she has her life back on track now and I say well done!
People are so stupid,When i first saw it,(not to long ago) yeah it made me jump a few times,And But not faint,or have to go to a mental insitution cause of it,im a christain, but at least i know there exsitstsomekind of evil, all because of those ppl her life got somewhat messed up .some ppl take Movies (WAY)to seriously ,so they make a big deal out of it,If i saw Linda id ask her for her autograph, not run away like a silly little kid,ppl where messed up in the 70's
You have to keep in mind that when the film opened in the 70's it was a fresh, new project.
Today, we have a different perception of the film, we know the story, the horror of it, the background of the film which give audiences a different initial perspective. Today, a film like this seems cake compared to the other films that are out there.
Having said that, it's important to understand that, this film truly feels like a genuine, realistic horror film. It's a powerful film.
When I see the film today, and I'm only 22, it still feels like I'm watching real, life-like events. It has a tone, a mood, an dense, uneasy atmosphere. The film, from the begining, is a building climax. And, since there is different kinds of people out there, some people, sadly, let the illusion of the film turn into reality.
in todays world we are so used to seeing horror films left right and center and the world has become MUCH more violent and horrible since the release of this film....so todays ppl wouldnt be anywhere near as effected to this as pp back in the 70s...movies like this just werent around..if they released "saw" back then it would have horrified ppl a lot more then it did us....
people r stupid like that. how can they judge her from a movie movie is a movie why take it so far. these are the same people who think santa claus real to ahaha
Linda is a great person. She loves animals and she's involved in Animal Rights. The Exorcist was a great movie. She was so cute in the role of little Regan. She was perfectly casted and very convincing. It is definitely a timeless classic. I saw the re-release a couple of years back and it was as fresh then as it was when it first premiered. Only difference is that people are more jaded today and no-one not even the little kids in the theater seemed frazed out in anyway.
Sad because if this movie were released today for the first time Linda probably wouldn't have any of this to deal with; or at least a lot less of the crap she had to deal with.
I'm 28 years old and this movie still scares me to this day .I saw it when I was 5 this There was so many movies about religion this was the first to give a face that still is strong to this day. the the right wing Christians didn't understand that in order to believe in god you must know that the devil exist. like Father Marin said,"the devil wants to show how ugly human beings could be. look how much we've done to the earth. the exorcist is just holding a mirror and asking"what is in us?"

side note: This documentary would be so much shorter if they didn't film scenery and emotional walks on the beach.

The thumbnail picture advertising this video is Eileen Dietz as Regan, not Linda Blair.
Vortigern99 1 year ago 4
@Vortigern99 It's a combination of both. Linda Blair as possessed Regan w/ the Captain Howdy face (Eileen) superimposed over one side.

@exmk000 Right, thanks for the clarification! (Those buck teeth always give Eileen away.)

I also would like to add that Ellen and Bill Blatty seem like very thoughtful and intelligent people.

The music is underrated as well.. I think they took a lot from Hitchcock's movies.
Probably one of the earliest movies I've seen, particularly horror, where the intensity of the music has had such a huge effect on the storyline.
