you know the reason he said that was because courtney was jealous of some other female who she thought kurt was dating, and she basically made the decision out of his hands by saying "ill rip her head off, and if i see you around you 1 more time i will leave you and you'll never see me again" so after she told him that, his plan was to announce that statement he said at the beginning at a live concert so she could stop worrying, which sparked controversy when he did so.
