  • she's mixing belly dancing and gothic dancing!?!? WOW !!

  • @amz392 .....there's gothic dancing? (O_O)

  • What people do not know is that in tribal fusion belly dance, pop locking movements are what makes the dance unique. Of course, this dance is awesome without it, but the pop lock is the seasoning that makes this dance extra salty ; )

  • you go girl!

  • Greetings, everyone. Please, refrain from commenting unless you have constructive criticism or positive comments to share. Insults and cattiness are unnecessary.

BTW, if you are looking for video of me dancing to Middle Eastern music, please see my profile and most recent performance. Thanks.

    - Asharah

  • @kiaroskuro Asharah, you are my favorite Tribal Fusion dancer. Even though TF isn't my style, you are a pleasure to watch. Ever since I started belly dancing I've been a fan of your videos. In addition to Middle Eastern music, I am also into metal and this performance of yours is my favorite. You did the spirit of the song justice and created a powerful, compelling performance.

You are clearly a dancer who has respect for the roots of this dance, and an example for other TF dancers to follow.

  • Lulu, I love what you have said! I enjoy each and every form of bellydance. Goths cheer and sparkly, to the dark and deep. To each their own. I get sick of teeny boppers (and those that think like them!) saying what they do is real And everyone else is wrong. Thank you lulu for keeping an open mind and a kind heart!!

  • that was awesome to watch. It was great to see somone have fun! i get bored watching "gothic bellydancers" that just do slow work and look "sad". i want attitude and darkness. and she had both. and how percise her movements were! just a great thing to see!

  • hm kinda scary lol a lil too scary

  • @iamspecial14 Too bad you didnt get crucified like me for saying that.

  • @kaliyuta lol OH DARN!! =P

  • @iamspecial14 yeah it's whatever as of this point i mean i made this post over 4 months ago.

  • @kaliyuta ooh what did people say to you?

  • yyyeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssss

  • @esther589 Thanks for the compliments, but if I've had a baby, I'd like to know about it. :)

  • I cried seeing this. perfect

  • @Kolkoi and then after you cried you slit your rists, snorted you prozac and cried some more.

  • whats the name of the song ? and i love her

  • It was alright. I rated it about 3 stars. I really like this music!

  • meine güte. echt super - noch nie von ihr gehört, bin froh, das gesehen zu haben. musik ist ganz schön duster. trotzdem, toller tanz, guter typ.

  • In my opinion Asharah is the queen of Gothic Industrial dance. Her style is sooooo dark and unique. I really really reallyyyy wish to study with her one of these days.

  • What song is this? I've heard it before and can't pinpoint it.

  • drumcorps - grist

  • I don't wanna do 'fusion' but I do love to watch it.. the way they isolate things down to a muscle is amazing!

  • This was too perfect. I'm a metal head and this was just sexy, strong, and pushy. I love it. The only thing that isn't good is the sound. If only It'd let me turn it up more.

  • Wow! This was so powerful and strong and just absolutely beautiful!

  • What's not to like, you get 5 stars! Sexy as hell.

  • That was sooo hottt.

  • if you take away all that is gothic and put it to an arabic drum solo it incorporates many things you see in tribal fusion bellydance. Also watch some of Zoe's performances, she has a lot of pop/locks in her dancing also. To each their own, all I have to say is that her energy fairly crawled across the floor all the way to the back of the room...mesmerizing!

  • It's also all about muscle control which this girl has an amazing amount of. Most of this looks easy to the eye but is actually extremely hard to do and takes lots of practice.

  • @kaliyuta her style is called tribal FUSION not traditional duh!

  • @kaliyuta you must not know anything about bellydance.

  • @LuLu6214 I do REAL BELLYDANCE!!!!!

  • @kaliyuta so do I. This is fusion didnt know there was a real and a fake bellydance.

  • @LuLu6214 Just to make it clear this is a "Bellydance" for "girls" who cut themselves and like rough sex and are dark and dead inside.everything that bellydance is not meant for.Keep your goth shit to yourselves dont call this bellydance.I think if these girls were to have a crash course in the history and the original styles they would have a panic attack because it would force you to feel something on the inside.they dont want that.the darker and more disconnected the better.

  • @kaliyuta You do realize its a STAGE PERFORMANCE they dont dress that way in real life. You are just as cynical and critical as iamspecial14. You obviously dont understand people and that all interpret dance differently.

  • @kaliyuta i may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure the sparkly bellydance costumes and style were born in the US, giving credit to sol bloom who was trying to popularize bellydancing. historically, women use to "bellydance" amongst themselves and just danced in their regular clothes. i read about it on shira.net

and there are plenty of the sparkly bellydancers who only practice to be sexy in an inappropriate way.

at any rate, there is no need for that language.

  • @labanditabella The "sparkly" costumes you are referencing are origins from the middle east. You girls are lost.

  • @kaliyuta The two-piece cabaret costume is an import from Hollywood. To quote Rina Rall, " In the 1920's the cabaret costume in the Middle East also adapted to satisfy this new audience. The costume "owed its inspiration to Hollywood, where female allure was associated with the vamp." The Arab dancers adopted the new cabaret uniform of bra, low-slung gauzy skirt with side slits and bare midriff. Films also became popular at this time and featured cabaret dancing as a brief diversion."

  • @kaliyuta More information about the origin of the two-piece cabaret costume can be found in Wendy Buonaventura's seminal work Serpent of the Nile.

  • @LuLu6214 "Real" belly dance means ORIENTAL belly dance! The pretty kind! "Fake" is this kind of American rip-off version of belly dance. She's not even dancing to like a dark remix of a middle eastern song! Now, I'm not saying I don't like me some tribal fusion! I dearly love Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes and Sherri but the do REAL tribal fusion, not this crap! What they do looks beaitiful and serpentine! This is just ugly!

  • @iamspecial14 I can see it being gothic "tribal" interpretive but to call it bellydance basically cheapens the beauty of the dance.period.

  • @kaliyuta True. I wouldn't even consider this tribal, though because it is so ugly. Tribal is supposed to be beautiful and flowy, and this is just...shitty and ugly!

  • @iamspecial14 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I do what you call "Real" Belly dance and I cant stand the frilly sparkles. According to real belly dancers I know who have been dancing LONGER THAN YOU HAVE BEEN ALIVE there is no right or wrong way to belly dance its called personal artistic expression. But your a kid you wouldnt know anything. Concentrate on making it out of high school before you talk about things you dont know a thing about.

  • @iamspecial14 And for the record where is it written that you have to dance to a middle eastern song in belly dance? Just the same where is it written you have to dance to classical music in ballet or ballroom? See my point.

  • @LuLu6214 oh PHOO! Shut your pie hole! XD And when I said that I mean for AUTHENTIC belly dance! Not for this shit that is a cheap-ass rip-off of tribal fusion. I'm not saying this girl isn't talented, because she most certainly is, but this is a CHEAP looking performance! It's terribly ugly!

  • @iamspecial14 Like I said little girl, GROW UP! You seem to be the cheap ass rip off so why dont you actually shut your naive, ignorant, and immature little mouth.

  • @LuLu6214 You make me laugh! X Really, thank you for that laugh!! LMFAOOOOOOO XDDDD

  • @iamspecial14 Yeah you are hilariously retarded. LMFAO

  • @kaliyuta

First of all, there are many different types. Who are you to say that what you do is "real" belly dancing. And second, you sound ignorant and like a child.

  • @DancerLaRoux AMEN

  • @kaliyuta She's popping and locking bellydance moves. All she did was take the basic moves and isolations (as well as some complicated ones) and made them her own. She is still quite obviously bellydancing though.

  • ive never really seen gothic bellydance before...I was told to look up Asharah...and I love this performance.

Not drastically much different to tribal fusion, but unique in its own way. I like

  • I love her shes so Hypnotizing and the music was kickass

    What was the song please

  • This was amazing...I had no idea. I just now heard of her through my tribal fusion teacher. How could I have missed her?! I want to grow up and look like that when I move one day.

  • she's amazing isn't she? i'm going to one of her workshops tomorrow, i'm so excited! she has a really good dvd out too. i recommend you try it out. it's all about strobing and incorporating it into your choreography. :0)
