I think you've pretty much sold me on Planet Crashers, Jools. The art is really nice and your description sounds fun. Looking at that sphere sorta reminded me of Animal Crossing Wild World and how the world rotated as you walked around, lol.
I must say, as a computer Engineering student that wants to be a game designer, that this series you're doing is very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
I want to take "so you can enjoy many hoursss..*cue finger twisties" as a hint about the game, but I can't be sure >=]
Anywho, great vid, once again. Thanks for sharing the programs you use and for the extra info on your upcoming games. Looking forward to tomorrow morning's
I don`t know... these days I feel kinda uncomfortable when developers show games before they decided to finalize the project and getting it to the consumer or not...
Though I know it is a good way to show publishers, that there is interest.
Hey Jools, I want to become a game designer and I was wondering about a few things: Will I need to learn C++? Do you recommend it? How did you get into game development? What course in University would you recommend me to take?
@itsobviouslymezz Learning some programming can certainly help. It depends on what tpye of person you are and whether you're more on the creative side or technical side - or both. I never learned any programming, but I do dig deep and ask lots of questions about the limitations on the platforms we're developing on so I know what I can/can't do with the game concept. Regarding college courses, I have no idea unfortunately. Foundational basics are helpful, such as art/math, etc.
Thank you for these videos. I find it really fascinating to see your templates and how you work on things. Those are always my favorite parts on "behind the scenes" videos. Like watching someone animate a character or build a level, etc.

@joolswatsham : So, you're using 3DS Max? A mate telled me, that the programm is extremly difficult to use :D
What are your thoughts about it?
Personally, I'm using Milkshape 3D to create models, it's veeery easy with that ;)

@itsobviouslymezz C++ is a pretty good start. Just buy a book and watch some tutorials on Youtube.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm a developer, they don't sell Dr Pepper in my country.
