i have this cymbal its sounds freaking loud live and it over powers a whole band...the only problem is that i had it for a little less than a year and it broke around the bell...so if you gonna buy it make sure you get the extended warranty
@ptc5010 The AAX metal ride (to my recollection at least) isn't capable of the volumes that this ride is. That being said,as an owner of this ride,I can say that it gets really washy when riding it heavily,so you won't have the definition that you may want when using the tip of the stick at really high volumes, though I think it sounds wonderful when blasting.
Hahaha I asked on that snare once and to this day it still gets a million comments. That snare is even more popular than the cymbal demonstrations. Anyway, is that thing still available today? Well if not at Memphisdrum then issit still on the Yamaha drum catalog? I'm thinking it's not available with the long lug anymore if i'm correct or not.
i love paiste cymbals! i would have to say my 2 favorite rides are this one and the signature dry heavy ride. i dont own the dry heavy ride but i've played it a couple times. great sounding cymbal. however, i do own the eclipse! i saw it at a drum shop back in '07 and went back to purchase it the very next day. its an incredible cymbal and it gets me compliments where ever i take it.
@Morningstardrummer well seeing as they sound absolutely nothing alike, and in most cases are for 2 different types of music, if your playing loud and or heavy music.... Mega Power Bell
@Morningstardrummer def. check out paiste's website, you can choose cymbals to compare in the music room, and the sound files are very accurate. I can tell you with the music you play, the 24" Mega Power Bell and the 24" 2002 Ride are on opposites sides of the spectrum. Play around in the cymbal room and check out some rides.
@Morningstardrummer Those are awesome bands, but not heavy metal XD but I agree with the other guy, go too paiste's website and compare in the music room

Would the stick sound on this ride cymbal cut more than a sabian AAX 22" metal ride?

i have one, and it really is great for metal. sounds close to a regular Rude Power Ride, just a bit deeper and more wash...
i think my two most recent drum videos on here feature it, so if you want to hear it more check them out...

that's one giant heavy ride cymbal!!! probably more useful in metal drumming... i like that crash though what kind is it?
