  • My great-great-grandfather knew better technics he was able to destile a very pure moonshine!

  • @MrSirSmoky Check out my other stills. I am doing azeotropic distillation now. I am sure your g-g-grampa never got 95.5% in a single distillation.

  • The pot is not transparent. What is the pipe made of? If rubber,I'm afraid that you cannot carry out most of the Organic Chemistry in it.

  • i made one just like yours and it works good one hr about one half cort

  • mix flour and water in a bowl to a doughy mix... this seals steam leaks very well but not sure if it will hold the pipe up alone

  • Popcorn Sutton uses oatmeal for the same.

  • @drrose4 with a compression fitting to pipe thread adapter on the outside and a pipe thread coupler on the inside and some brass washers.... the flour paste works great!

  • @kingearwig

hope you pickled those brass washers dude... anything thats not food grade, stainless steel or copper will just poison you're shine... go to home distillers website and learn how to do it properly... mabe you wont end up with cancer or lead poisoning in 5 or 10 years time... good luck either way

  • I made one the other day and it would work if it wasnt held together with duct tape lol. I got about 2 shots and then the pipe started slipping into the pot. I patched it with foil on the second attempt and it worked much better but still it came apart and a good amount of steam was being wasted. Does anyone know of anykind of glue that will fasten metal and not melt at high temps.?.

  • Silver solder. Don't use the lead kind or you'll get jake-leg from drinking it.

  • you can use latex surgical tubing to connect the parts

  • I wouldn't.

  • Tape materials leak TOXINS into your booze, as well as glues that would do the job. Non toxic glues wouldnt be strong enough.

and i wouldnt use any type of caulking either.

Rubber or wooden corks, any lead free soulder (prefer silver).

or direct welding. anything else is pretty unsafe.

    Dough (flour water mix)

and non-toxic play dough work well to stop leaking cracks too.

  • igiiiiiiiiiiit

  • If that pot isn't copper or glass; you better not drink it.

  • Aluminum isn't bad unless your wash is alkaline.

  • except that aluminum vapors cause alzheimhers

  • That is theoretically true, when alluminum was introduced directly into the brain.

But they have never been able to get that result through use of aluminums as cooking pots or food storage materials in a lab.

All in all though id change it to a tin pot or steel pot. better to be safe +1

  • stainless is ok too.
