I have the reflexes to do this stuff, its the processing a shit ton of things I cant do D; Like I can weave through the bullets well, but I forget about 1 or 2 bullets and BAM i'm down =w='' ah well, guess were not all made for it xP
I'm just curious, but is there a consistent story between this game and its sequel? I mean this one seems to have a strange forest with giant insects thing going which follows throughout.
The second one has dinosaurs, beetles, jellyfish, dragons, and all sorts of stuff going on and I have no idea how anything is connected. Besides the overlapping bullet wave attack style and that the main character in this one is carried over the games don't really seem to be in the same world.
@shrimpluv Mushi1 and Futari somehow relate to each other plot-wise; Aki, the TLB of the first game dies, so his mother Larsa goes on a rampage and sends all her minions (dinosaurs and dragons as you said), meanwhile Palm, little brother of Aki tries to discover how Reco is involved in all the mess
apparently this game is practically impossible to complete under the one credit rule. looking at this, you can see why. Plus the follow up (Futari) has never been beat.
I love watching videos like this even though they only bring back bad memories on how much I suck at them. I tried playing Touhou once, and although it was fun it was pretty emberassing. I don't think I even finished the game on medium or easy difficulty because I kept getting destroyed.
Did you import them/buy them in Japan or *ahem*, "acquire" them through other means?
I have a modded PS2, but these games seem like they might be hard to download. I'm not sure how popular they are in Japan.
And is it just me, or do the Japanese have some obsession with insanely difficult stuff? Most of the arcade games seem to have a level of difficulty that requires insane reflexes (danmaku) or coordination (rhythm games).
imagine the popularity of that, multiply it by about say 50, and you have how popular these games are in Tokyo.
Basically there are entire arcade floors dedicated solely to shm'up games, like 40-50 of them all on one floor, in just about any decent arcade there.
so yeah, importing them is super easy because they're everywhere. and yeah, insane processing ability = pretty much normal to japanese arcades :D haha
hell, there are events where they sell t-shirts for Cave (the company) and other stuff where people wait outside the building in line just to get em:
in arcades as you go up the escalator (since most of them are 3-4 floors), there are almost always large stands of characters in shm'ups and fighting games haha
4:56..that was painful to watch...you almost had it....bombs are meant to be used offensively in this game right? does it penalize you for bombing?

Man, the LAG on the greater patterns. It's brutal.
mechacassarenas 2 years ago
it's supposed to be there and it's actually on the arcade hardware like that
it's not brutal, it's fucking great
capnpayne 2 years ago
Actually, I've read that it's not intentional, it's the machine lagging.
But still, it's also awesome since this stuff would be impossible without lag.
mechacassarenas 2 years ago
well, yeah, it's the hardware getting overwhelmed, but they know it's there and they work with it on purpose.
and definitely, can you imagine trying to dodge that stuff at full speed? haha
this game is emulated really well on PCSX2 by the way, if you want to give it a shot... i strongly recommend it
capnpayne 2 years ago
I'll have it on mind, but for now I'll stick to the easier and less hard on the CPU Touhou series.
mechacassarenas 2 years ago
I always wondered what that thing your destroying for 3/4 of the stage is.
Is it supposed to be a centipede?

oh, put me on an RTS and watch me fail, hard.
that, and tekken. horrible at tekken. you'd be surprised, there's a lot of games/other shit i suck at:
but generally anything that requires really fast reflexes/processing a ton of things at once, that's where my strengths are at.

iwubkorn 3 years ago
think about tons of things flying at you, each of which you have to process in terms of speed and size, and you have to weave through them?
no, that's not gay at all, i mean, that's just a description of just about every competitive team sport on the planet, that's all :O

it doesnt look like the bullets do anything to you as you get hit.
megadeth4life123 4 years ago
no, they do hit me: read the wikipedia links in the info, they need to hit the "center" of your ship.

This must require a ton of trial and error, to know exactly where to go to so you don't die.
Frygel 4 years ago
Read the info. He has almost no experience with this game, that's the amazing thing.
Roooobb 4 years ago
Yeah, I read it. None the less, for someone not as amazing, it would require alot of time.
Frygel 4 years ago
pretty much after years of playing shm'up games, unless they're some weird ass stuff, you can generally instinctively dodge bullets.
the end boss though, that isn't instinct anymore, that's planning/memorization some :X
azuritereaction 4 years ago
Same thing as Lloyd. Nice video anyways.
