Liz's playing style is similar to Carole King in that her fingers create the music on the p[piano like a potter with clay ... whereas other ppl doing her music seem robot-like - could this be the huge difference in the emotional quality of her music?

I too am thankful to have gotten a chance to see these videos. I first saw her in the 80's in an interview on A&E. After hearing one song, went out and bought the Speechless CD and have been in love with her ever since. I even got the chance to see her in concert and talk with her for a minute afterwards. Unfortunately she was only part of a show and not the whole concert. Anyway, it is as great to listen to her introduce each song as it is to hear her play. She is intelligent and funny!

Hi. Thanks for the nice comment on Liz's video. Yes Solid Colors is my favorite of Liz's too. You might also want to check out Barbara Higbie. She is also from the same Windham Hill era and her style is similar. She is really great too! When this album came out acoustic style was very popular. It is fortunate that this type of music is making a comeback with specialty internet radio stations as well as Sirius and XM. The world needs more calming music like Liz's....Steve

@Hopffnung Hello and thanks for the response on Liz's video. Yes I agree that her music is awesome! It is very rare to find any video's of Liz on the net. I had these to video's on a VHS tape for decades and one day I figured out a way to get them uploaded to youtube. These 2 video's are part of a special program that Liz hosted on VH1 in the 1980's called "Inner Visions" I believe Liz does occasional concerts with others from the Windham Hill records. Great to meet another Liz fan!!! Steve

Liz Story is great. I bought her album Solid Colors on cassette at a second hand store not knowing what it was; such a nice surprise. Unfortunately though, only about half of the cassette plays since it's so old; the cassette slows down.

She's so amazing!! I really love many of her compositions: Bradley's dream, Starfinder, Things with wings, wedding rain, All the things you are.. etc.

I'd really have the opportunity one day to find out a postal address for writing her and express my admiration. I hope she knows we're many people who appreciates her amazing talent as a composer and pianist.

Thanks for sharing! Liz's music can take me to other dimensions :) My favorite LP is Solid Color's but they are all gem's. Liz just had a concert here in the Bay Area so she is still playing and visiting the country. I look forward to seeing her again. I once saw Liz at Stanford Univ. with Will Ackerman, Shadowfax. Bobby Mc Ferrin and Michael Hedges. That was when WIndham Hill's HQ was in downtown Palo Alto. One of the best concerts of my life! Steve.
