@b4igetu As a mountaineer, I always use a leash. Kinda stupid not to unless you are ice climbing where you can always rap back down safely without it. Quite frequently I will tie the leash into a harness and use it as a self belay on steep snow slopes with high consequence for failure. The procedures for this are well documented in mountaineering the freedom of the hills.
You got it wrong. Mistake 1 was falling in the first place.
Also I don't think allot of people use leashes. Never seen a mountaineer do it, and most certainly not a ice climber.
