Bravo for the soprano!! She is soooo amazing...such an ease...its a joy to listen to her. Can't say the same about the tenor and the bass!! Right of the beginning with a lousy pronuciation > wenedictus? .. I think he meant benedictus. =)
The tempo is to fast in my opinion...hope they had a great party afterwords. =)
The singers are excellent, I like the way they convey this very tender piece. The soprano is especially wonderful. What a free, effortless, voice ! and with a good musical spirit when she melts with the other soloists.
Where's the fire? I am used to hearing the Benedictus a bit slower which makes for some rich harmony and musicality. The Hosanna is a downright race to the end. It's an interesting attempt to shake it up a bit but it loses some of its oomph!
I like this speed. I find it keeps the music flowing and gives it life. I have listened to other recordings on Face Book and CD's and in comparison, this has more life.
schubert's mass is definitely my favorite and this is my favorite part of it. i got to do the tenor solo with an amazing soprano and bass back in high school and even though people aren't supposed to clap in between mass movements people would always break out into applause after we were done. good times! these guys are great too!

@222mozart I would say 8.1, but OK. I don't have your ability to this kind of judgement.

Good lord. I don't see what the fuss is with the pace. This is one of my favorite renditions on youtube right now. Wonderful soprano.

The tenor is a little flat in spots, but maybe it's the acoustics??

I think so... it's kind of boring... He's just singing death notes.... :S

Maybe it's because the piece is too fast...

why is it this fast? I did sing this mass three years ago and it was a lot more slower than this one.
robles146 3 years ago
Because we where going to party after the concert. But most of all, because the conductor likes it this way.

The marking on the score by the editor is quaver=84. The slower tempo gives a nice contrasts to the hosanna but the "faster" one brings out the 6/8.

@robles146 maybe you're a lot more slower. just sayin'

I am learning this so just thought I'd look it up. I like the way this swings along so confidently and I need look no further. Thanks.
