I did the exact same thing about two months ago. I bought an Antec 300 case, modded it out, moved my components from the old case to the new one, took two hours to do cable management, and I SHORTED OUT my $150 motherboard the same way you did (two stands with without screws).................it's kinda like the TWILIGHT ZONE.... FREAKY...........
@karpetdawg123 yeah exactly, I hope Gigabyte will repair it for me without any charge, I only have this board for less than 2 year... Did you get your old mobo repaired or just got a new one?
@geoisonfire I bought my mobo second hand, so I just ran out and got the cheapest thing I could find, can't live without my computer. I don't know if Gigabyte will repair it, don't tell them that was your fault it shorted out, just use the 'I turned it on, and it didn't work' defense.
Sucks your board died, but hey its a good opportunity to upgrade lol. I just got a M4A79XTD EVO open-box for really cheap, should be able to find it open-box for around $80-90. I'm using it with Corsair XMS3 DDR3 and so far it works great.
@AgentHydra yeah, I really love to get M4A79XTD EVO, but I can't afford ddr3 ram now... might just get a cheap ddr2 mobo for now. After I get the old one repaired, I am goona sell it and then prolly upgrade to ddr3
