Very nice, I love both companies each for different reasons. I like the modability and ease of aftermarket parts and repair of the Jeep. Also it's offroading capability is much greater than the X5. Although the X5 is very nice, I rather have the X5 for driving around town and such. But for offroading or fun I'd go with the Jeep.
I like the 7 series as well, I want to get a Alpina B7. :)

The Jeeps handles like a big lump of iron situated on 4 springs compared to the BMW. No doubt that the Jeeps is much more capable in the terrain with the Quadradrive and all, but here in Denmark we dont do off-road evry day. I would take the beamer any day is I had to choose.

@Harvick29No1 Maybe the newer Jeeps, but the 90's ones will last forever (especially the 4.0). Mine has 180k with the same tranny and engine and has no problems. My friends has over 300k with the same engine and without any major repairs.

I would prefer the BMW X5. It's also possible, that if they had used the X5's slap stick, it probably would have been faster if not right next to the Jeep. Maybe. I still think if they had pushed both suvs to see who has the highest top speed, the X5 would probably have more top speed.

@DemkVan Whatever the weight of the Beamer is, it's still a performance sedan. They don't say what the mods are on the Jeep, but one way or another it has the same frame & body; it's still a heavier vehicle, and SUV's aren't designed for performance anyway.
Either way, that SUV beat the snot out of that car.

X5 will beat the living shit of the Jeep anyday if that jeep was not modded. and if it was not modded, the jeep is a 5.2 and the x5 is 4.4.... thats almost a 1 liter difrence which genertates a 50hp and 70 torqe difrence which also means that ITS NOT A FAIR RACE... DONT GET ME WRONG.... i love the keep for its off road.. but u cant compare it to a a road SUV....

@DemkVan No, SUV's were built for climbing hills, not going 0-60 in eight seconds. I realize this one was modded; thank you for stating the obvious. It's a given that any stock X5 would beat a stock Jeep off the line. Regardless of "fairness", whoever put this on proved his point: they were able to mod a Jeep that could easily beat a Beamer that was built for street performance.

There are SUVs FOR climbing hills, then there are Family SUVS, then there are luxury, then are SPORT SUVs.. like the X5... jeep will murder X5 in off road and thats it. and yes when i go offroading, i use my friends jeep. never will i think about taking my X5 on dirt. its like a sedan. go drive it ull see what i mean.

I know something about Jeeps. They rank in the lowest 3 spots on JD Power and Associates list for vehicle reliability. The other of the two remaining is Dodge. I'll take an X5 any day. ;)

@Harvick29No1 Maybe the newer Jeeps, but the 90's ones will last forever (especially the 4.0). Mine has 180k with the same tranny and engine and has no problems. My friends has over 300k with the same engine and without any major repairs.

@Harvick29No1 Well I'm afraid you are showing that you don't know much about Jeeps. This model ( 93 - 98 Grand Cherokee )is one of the most reliable cars around. Also one of the safest with a 5 start crash safety rating.

I would prefer the BMW X5. It's also possible, that if they had used the X5's slap stick, it probably would have been faster if not right next to the Jeep. Maybe. I still think if they had pushed both suvs to see who has the highest top speed, the X5 would probably have more top speed.
