  • I hope the series comes out on dvd.

  • I always thought it was funny how animated action heroines back in the 70s had to have a male guardian who did most of the actual fighting, only for the girl to swing in at the very last second!

  • Hard to belive...... Ted Cassidy (Lurch) was the voice of Montaro !!

  • @MichaelGaribaldi NOT hard to believe. Cassidy did LOADS of voices for Hanna- Barbera, mostly villains. But He was also Frankenstien Jr(RRRIGHT, BUZZ!!), & the Size-changing guy in Galaxy Trio. I loved him as Lurch...the hilarious deep-throated reactions to the hair-brained ideas the Addams Family came up with were priceless!

  • Wasn't she in the Super-Friends ?

  • @LB74 No, Jana was not in Superfriends (I made that mistake too). We were thinking of Rima, another jungle queen. She paired up with Wonder Woman to rescue some explorers who'd been arrested by a tribe for mistakenly desecrating sacred relics.

Mind you, I would have liked to see Jana in Superfriends. Maybe she could have teamed up with Apache Chief or Batman and Robin.

  • I saw this on USA Cartoon Express!

  • @Tizmaole Me too! I saw so many of those cartoons which were Saturday morning when I was too young (to have seen them on Saturday morning) on USA CARTOON EXPRESS!

  • Holly COW I freakin remeber this !

  • If it wasn't high art,it was several cuts above the usual Saturday morning fare.

  • This was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. My friends thought I was a freak for thinking an animated woman was hot.

  • it is BJ Ward! lol I have been looking for this cartoon for years to remember what it was! such good memories!

  • Rima had white hair if memory serves. But Jana is freakin hot'. She should be brougght back.

  • Wasn't Jana a member of the super-friends? I think she teamed up with Batman & Robin then later Wonder Woman

  • @troubleman245 No, that character's name was Rima. But, I can see where you thought that. The character's favor.

  • Great intro music! I wonder if it was Hoyt Curtin; composer of that great "Battle of the Planets" music.

  • Jill of the Jungle computer game, nuff said.

  • @BankaiIchigo12345 That is very true. Not many have figured that out.

  • My sister was named after this show about 15yrs later! She has trouble though as everyone mispronounces her name as "yana"

  • My name is also Jana and I used to joke that I had my own show....loved the show.

  • looks cool

  • I can't BELIEVE someone posted this. You are awesome. I totally adored this cartoon as a kid.

  • This is one of the better quality uploads I've seen of this.

  • Im going to be jana of the jungle for halloween sinds my name is Yana :)

  • Sounds like B.J. Ward to me! (Scarlett of GI Joe, Wonder Woman- Super Powers: Galactic Guardians)

  • I remember this beautiful cartoon , fantastic

  • Thanks for posting, thought I'd imagined this!!!!

  • omg my name is jana

  • I guess Jana was in the Amazon, while Sheena and Tarzan were in Africa?

  • @GarthanSaal444: Pretty much, just like Jungle Girl (created by Edgar Rice Burroughs) was located in Cambodia.

  • hey thats my name, kinda cool

  • I remember watching reruns of this cartoon on Cartoon Express when I was a child, back when the USA Network was worth watching.

  • My Dad named me Jana after this cartoon.

  • Did not it occur to Jana that her father probably drowned when the boat capsized?

  • Jana was my heroine. I wonder if there's a DVD?

  • @battywattywoo Same reason why Warner Bros won't release The World's Greatest Superfriends season & why Disney who bought the Marvel Toons won't release my all time fav Spiderman and his amazing friends/ '80's Hulk. Stupid. Silly. This was a great cartoon with great HB animation. The walking and swinging portions are very realistic and seemless.

  • i knew that sheena looked familar?

  • One of my oldest favorites.

Wonder if that necklace had the purpose of being used the way it's been used the way it has.

  • nadie la tiene en español?

  • She has a strong resemblance to Rima the Jungla Girl.

  • What a great cartoon

  • I have been searching high and low for this girl. I used to watch her in Honduras as a kid man that necklace used to drive me nuts i always wanted one when I would play by the Mango trees. LOL I really did think i could be her people thought I was weird her and She- ra and Wonder Woman LOL. But thank you for posting!

  • my name is Jana :O

this makes me feel so badass...

  • I was 5 years old. This cartoon kicked my hormones into overdrive. I started shaving soon after.

  • As it did everyones

  • jana is fine

  • Hoo-hoo, Hee-hee, Haa-Haa. You are right! Laughter is the best medicine. I'm favoriting this, and sending it to some friends. :-). Thanks. Dr M

  • Jana's father was probably Tarzan!

  • Jana jana jana of the jungle friend of you and me

    .......Watch out for that tree!

  • Wonder how Jana managed to shave her legs and keep her hair in such good condition.

  • LOL

  • this looks cool

  • DIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSS ya no la recordaba... con su collar de concha de tortuga que le servía de arma.

  • Oh yes! I watched this show in the same time when I watched "Battle of The Planets"! Great times! Really great...

  • lol my mum named me after this show.

would like to watch an actual episode

  • My idol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jana was THE show!!!

  • OH. My. GOD.

I can't believe someone else remembered this!!!!

  • Oohh what a great cartoon!!!

Esta serie me gustaba mucho cuando era niño ne los 80´s, q buenos recuerdos...

  • It would be so great if they put this out on DVD! My daughter would LOVE this show! She loves She-ra and is all about animals! I think this would be her favorite show! If anyone "in charge" is reading this, get to it!

  • I wish they would, too, but it's not likely. Not even Cartoon Network has ever shown Jana. It's thanks to USA Cartoon Express that I even got to see it.

  • Jana was one of the first crushes I ever had, her and Princess (BOTP)...oh I used to like the robot's voice too.....Susan...that was it 7zark7's friend.

  • I wonder what crushes Susan would have inspired if she had ever appeared in BOTP?

  • Aah, this takes me back. I used to enjoy Jana of the Jungle, and the intro is as enjoyable as ever. Looking back, I doubt if Jana ever found her father; cartoon heroes of the 1970s and 1980s on quests such as finding loved ones seldom accomplished them.

  • She didn't., but there was an episode in which she met a man that she mistook for her father. Too bad it wasn't really him.

  • Most likely the father drowned. Jana didn't because she was rescued, but I doubt the father would have been so lucky. But we can't have death in a 1970s children's cartoon, can we? Better to keep the hope going for the kiddies' sakes.

  • This is due to studio neglect to give some closer to their product either because of economy or sloppiness of the the story writers some shows like The Puppy's further Adventures in the 80's or Jumanji in the 90's break up the monotony. Justice League gives probably the best way to end a series.

  • Jana was a Hanna-Barbara product. It was created by Doug 'Jonny Quest' Wildey who also worked on Godzilla.

  • Her first name rhymes with William Hanna's last.

  • God, would I love to see this show again...

  • Nope, Tarzan 'hung-out' with the Lone Range, Zorro, Batman and the Super Seven (Freedom Force, Super Stretch and Micro Woman, & Mantr and Morey) all by Filmation.

Jana I believe was by Ruby-Spears.

  • trust me....jana was hanna-barbera...part of the godzilla power hour....i've seen the roto-scope footage.

  • you forgot Web Woman and Jason of Star Command.

  • Wow. A great female super hero, there wasn't too many of them around. Man, did I use to enjoy watching this. I think she and Tarzan appeared togethor in one programme. Can anyone confirm this?

  • Yes, it was great female Tarzan who is actually a hero (I wouldn't think of her as a superhero - it was that necklace that gave her the edge) rather than the useless, screaming, female love interest. I don't remember if Jana ever met Tarzan as it has been 30 years since I watched the series in full, but if they had, it must have made a very interesting episode.

  • That would have been a little hard to do, since Jana was in South America and Tarzan was in Africa. I think they were also separated by 60 years or so,

  • That is a point, but I doubt a little thing like that can stop a cartoon!

  • @Crusadist1099

You can solve that in a fanfic by writing... Immortal Tarzan.
