  • I may not do it myself, I may not like most inport engines, but given the chance I'd build a Mazda 20B 3 rotor Rat/Hot Rod.... so the hell with everyone saying it's non-traditional and a waste of a Hot Rod, it's his car, so go to hell. He can do with it as he pleases.

Besides all the Resto guys are going "OMG, he's chopped the top. What a waste."

  • what a waste of a rat rod putting a rice burner engine in it

  • WHAT WAS THIS FILMED WITH!?!? A CALCULATOR???!!

  • What in the FUCK is that?

  • U HAVE FILMED IT WITH GRAIN OF RICE ????

  • So if its not a ricer and its got Swedish parts on it then what do we call it? A nobel prize car? Ikea wheeler? Or my favorite the Abba burner.

  • did u film this with a drill?

  • Love this rod but what is the purpose of a 4wd low rider? It'd drag on everything.

  • @7689568

ever seen an asphalt rallycar? the purpose is to put all the power down

  • i dont care what anyone says, that you built it the way YOU wanted to. not the way everyone else would have. and it looks good man!

  • what a fucking disgrace! i know this is glass but still do it fucking right!

  • Race Inspired Cosmetic Exterior =RICE

  • The only reason I gave you a thumbs up was because the rod is very unique, but spend $150 on a Sony Cybershot camera - please. The film quality sucks brother!

  • I want to see this type of thing with old Audi drivetrain(AAN 5cyl turbo with AWD)

  • for a vehicle to be considered true 4wd it has to have a high and a low selectable transfercase, this is what would be considered all wheel drive, still pretty sweet build, and very unique

  • i belive it has a modern volvo drive train in it... remember reading that long time ago some where

  • How is it 4wd?

  • @TheMoose201 look for the front axle shafts

  • COol car...lol

  • V12 holy shit

  • yeah, that's a cool, car, hjow it's suposed to be, 4 x4.

    nice rims

there is no law that says a hotrod should have a push rod engine.

    that's hill billy crap

if i would live in USA, i would build mine with a mercedes DOHC engine 4matic or a BMW DHOC engine with X drive.

    no chrome.

modern engines sound better than a pushrod.

the 5 cyl is a nice engine.

  • @naturalyshocked Finally somebody with a brain. Ive owned my share of pushrod engines but i know that a 32 valve v8 is better than a 16 valve. Many people are ignorant to the fact that mercedes make similar displacement v8 with 32 valves. The bimmer 4 liter 8 cylinder is alot more revvy, but the mercedes is alot more like what we are used to here in the states. I really wish we wouldnt shun technology. Could you imagine a 9 or 10 liter engine with 32 valves, that would be insane.

  • now Add a Xtrac gearbhox or Sadev, wel any sequectial gearbox.

    : )

instead of the bowler and co overhauled tranmissions.

it doesnn't need to have 8 or 11 liter displacement.

the brabus rockets rock over 1000 nm torque, enough to twist axles.

but a multivalve valve burn more efficient.

but thast would give problems on the Seq gearbox unles you can invest several tens of thousands in a gearbox.

i would opt for a seq box, making the car launch faster than a classic 5.7 or what ever.

  • @naturalyshocked I just brought up the displacement arguement because i had the feeling that sombody would try to tell me that a turbo big block 2 valve engine would be better. I was just saying when you are talking equal displacement, the 32 valve engine will always be better. If they can make 100hp per liter on 4 cylinders then i expect a 5.7 to make 570 hp with natural asperation Also i dont really consider the rocket a merc because brabus throws away most of the stock mercedes stuff.

  • i don't wanna say anything, but a WRC rally car hits 0-60 in half the time a corvette zr1 does.

with less than 1/3 the displacement, while having 4x4. well it maxes @ ∓ 100m/h, but that depends what gear ratio you choose.

check w3 dot xtract dot com.

i think a nice bmw 3.0 inline 6 mated to a SEQ box, would stun many americans and make raise question marks.

    : )

  • yesterday i saw on autoblog the ford flex, the speedo shows 120m/h max speed.

    with a 3.5 twinturbo ecoboost???????

the day before, i saw on autoblog, the dodge avanger, the same story.

    120m/h o the speedo and a 2,4 inline 4.

i think many american have a trully troubles in their head and i don't wanna insult anyone.

but my old opel vectra 24v can achieve 235km/h, a litle shot on the dodge charger hemi 2010, that's insane.

  • @naturalyshocked if you knew anything, and I do mean ANYTHING about cars, you'd know that what the speedo says doesn't mean shit

  • why do you need an insane big engine, when a smaller engine can do the same job.

i did challange a pontiac firebird 3.8 once with a renault 21 1700cc, the only mod done was a oil cooler from a alfa romeo.

the renault left the pontiac behind on the highway, it wasn't much faster, but the accelleration was.

i had a Golf mk IV 90ps tdi, i toke it to the top and achieve 205km/h on the speedo.

to me this means, with 90ps, i beat a 355hp ford flex in topspeed, not acceleration.

  • many americans have a problem and are scared to ride a fiesta to their work.

they think it's a dangerous small car.

some even believe their old tech engines are more fuel efficient than european cars.

but the fact is, they are not. even the european importer for GM cars went bankrupt, Kroymans. they sold less than 1000 cadilacs in 10 years in the netherlands, read that yesterday.

    : (

    i wish i could test 98 octane (euro) vs a 91(usa), or 95(euro) vs 87.

  • i even read on autoblog, that our fuel is equal to theirs, because our system wasn't good .... according to them (the readers).

here you only can buy 95 euro and 98 super plus.

i don't wanna step the toes of any one, but the pushrod is guilty of the fall of GM.

it made the cars virtual unsellable (atleast here in europe).

    : (

GM keep building trucks with insane big engines, 6.6 duramax.

why ? the VW thoureg towed a 747 with a 5.0, iok with 2 tons of sand onboard.

  • @naturalyshocked

I think both OHC and OHV have their own advantages . Have you looked at the size of a LS7 corvette's 7.0 L engine its way smaller than any dual overhead cam V8 or V6 out there, they weigh less than engines that have half the displacement , they are very cheap to manufacture for the kind of performance they deliver . They are almost bullet proof , cheaper and easier to fix cuz of their simplicity . Again way easier to get good performance out of them cuz they are simple.

  • but what insane brain put such engine in a car for construction workers and litle more.

what insane brain does drag racing with a full size truck with double tires on the rear axle?

why does a construction worker, plumber or electrician need 450hp in his work vihicle.

    that's insane.

    i can't understand all that.

my wifes car is a Ford fiesta 1800 analog diesel and has 60hp.

i shopped the spring with 4cm and pretty much all the undercarriage is new.

it's insanely fun tossing the car around corners

  • @naturalyshocked many americans do have to have a huge vehicle but not me. I have a 4th gen chevy camaro with a 5.7 liter, that i never drive. I havent driven it in over 3 years. Cars like that just arent practical, I drive a 1.8 liter suzuki as my daily driver. I just like small cars more than massive cars. I agree about bmw, you can make alot more power than is usable. A few months ago this guy make 800hp with a m30b35 in performance bmw magazine. He made that much power with a 1980s inline 6

  • @donwonjon420 it depends on which block it has in it, the late 4th gens with the LS1 get better gas mileage than many v6 imports and as good as some I-4s! If you stay off the gas, which I know is hard to do when you have 300 ponies waiting to run free, but me and my buddy took his on a road trip and averaged 28 mpg highway, and 22 when we were just cruising around town

  • @naturalyshocked

I kinda like the fact that some people are putting the middle finger up to conventional cars and just enjoying modifying and driving their insane cars, screw greenpeace id rather die at 200mph in a ball of horribly un-enviromentaly friendly smoke than live forever and be constantly bored! Do something radical, you may just enjoy it.

  • fuck all you haters this thing is a beast could of gotten better rims but wtf everyone has their tastes

  • Hot Rod and Volvo engine? Nope.

  • @Bmr4life you obviously don't understand the definition of hotrodding...what have you ever built? this guy had to have put a LOT of time into this car and it is as original as they come... you probably drive a ford taurus so please stfu and gtfo

  • A beautiful car, looks like it would be a bundle of fun to drive too, an unusual drivetrain but one that has a lot of merit.

  • not no rat rod if it sounds like a ricer

  • that v10 sounds sweet... get some true duals with an x pipe and you'll be set!!

  • @omgwtfbbqgtfo its not a v10 its a inline 5 made by volvo....

  • is that a factory 5 body

  • sweet

  • your supposed to put a american blown v8 in a hor rod not a v6 v4 but its a nice looking car still

  • @Mr70ChallengerRT you make a rod how you want it, not how its supposed to be.

  • Pretty cool-why 4X4- is it all-wheel drive? If so that think must be wicked quick.

  • @zizwop Yeah it's got a fourwheel drive system from a Ford Sierra Cosworth.

  • you are all fucking dueshbags this is as far away frrom a ricer its not evn funny this is a fuckin hot rod with a fucking v 10 you queers so look for something better to do than piss me off and rate vids you dont like i give this vid a 10/10 and you fucks could only wish to have a car like this

  • Geez, at least it isn't another cookie-cutter, red fiberglass deuce coupe with a 350 crate motor and chrome billet wheels.

    Kudos for originality!

  • That is the most bonkers thing I've seen in a while, and I love it!

Absolutely top work! it must go incredibly well! 5/5!

  • Interesting. Not what I would build but, that is the whole point of rodding now isn't it?

  • Kick ass! Fuck the haters that think a hotrod should be like every one else's, rodding's all about having what YOU want!

  • its a ricerod!!!

  • Nothing rice about it. All western parts.

  • There is nothing rice about it. Its not full of Chevy parts developed in the 1950s, no. Ricer means Japanese parts or Japanese imports. This one is a 30s american shell and Swedish parts.

  • unless it had a big block, ford 9 inch rear I will not be happy with it.

  • fuck that! This is so much better

  • @barath4545 whats the problem...did the Americans invent cars then...or start customising them first? Volvo own Mack Trucks with Renault, some of the most innovative and cool customisers are scaninavian...I like it, so so so bored with the same old same old...

  • @barath4545 Rice is Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. Rice knows no nationality because stupid is universal.

  • @barath4545 actually rice means Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement. The term Rice is commonly misused to label actual tuners putting down actual horsepower.

  • @barath4545 actually rice refers more to ''all show no go''

  • @HeavyMetaldude500

no thats a way u have grown to miss understand the term ricers.

ricers are japanese (they eat rice-clue!) and usually very highly strung and revvy.

  • @barath4545 ricers arent all japenese cars its a term use to include people who dont know things about cars but think they do

  • @barath4545 no, japanese parts or japanese imports are called JDM. Rice is putting unnecessary mods on the car, especially to make it look better than it really is, stickers, bumpers, fart cans, neons etc... I have seen plenty of american ricers, both new and old

  • @barath4545 you got your rice definition all messed up...rice is when you put a lot of shit on your car like fugly bumpers and mods that make your car slower.

  • cool car. love the high tech suspension and stuff. nice and different! is that an intercooler on the front? that looks like an airfilter on the top-back of it, but that doesnt really make sense. whats the deal there?

  • its probably to give it the hot rod look (since it would be weird to not have a radiator on the front)... speaking of which.. where is his?

  • Nah, your right. The people who make the definitions only go by experienced, technical staff who thoroughly research the definitions and then submit it to a panel who has the final judgement on its validness and accuracy. There just a bunch of idiots, you must be right.

  • Wow a volvo engine in a hot rod? Thats just plain weird to me I'm used to seeing the usuals... the 302 ford or 350 chevy. This is definitely a different kind of hot rod in my book haha

  • wat a piece ov shit aston martin v12 vantage dat is wat u want not a 1953 hotrod wiv no bonit

  • At last an original idea, hotrods have been made too long with the usual recipe.

  • I saw this car in a magazine. its all wheel drive not 4X4

  • Four-wheel drive, 4WD, 4x4 ("four by four"), or AWD ("all wheel drive") is a four-wheeled vehicle with a drivetrain that allows all four wheels to receive torque from the engine simultaneously.

  • No! it's not you stupid fucking moron! What are you, 15 years old? Tyipical youtube juvenile "know it all." Look it up and do some reading. Or better yet, Do some mechanic work on these systems like I have. They never give power simultaneously. 4X4 is usualy a 70/30 spilit primarily to the rear wheels. whereas, AWD is close to 50/50. Also U CAN'T use 4X4 all the time. Its not made for that. Thats why on some vehicle, they have disabling caps at the hubs. You will damage it like that....

  • im 29 and been a CERTIFIED ASE mechanic for 10 years asshole! Dont you dare tell me otherwise! And also, that definition is straight, word for word, out of the dictionary!!! Slow your "know it all" ism there dickhead.

  • Pretty stupid answer for an ASE certified mechanic. You need to get certified in some other areas. What have you tested on?? Starting and electrical systems? I can tell you have not tested for drivelines yet becasue your little "simultaneously" theory was retarded.

  • Oh no, not the dictionary. I mean The dictionary just cant be wrong can it. I bet you also believe everything you hear on the news also? Kill your self.

  • you are a fuckin idiot!!! It is a 4x4 you are just a cube who is sittin in front of the monitor whole day.

And from this crap quality you can see there is no a torquesen differential for eg.

    Fuck your self internet idiot!!!!!

It is a grte car, i would like to have one!!! : )

  • Look mother fucker, THAT VERY CAR was featured in Hotrod Magazine. They gave all the information on how it works. Look it up online. Its all wheel drive. Not 4X4 You dont know your ass from a hole in the ground. KILL YOUR SELF!!! You are a waste of blood.

  • @heatherandpaul2 I didn't think it was 70/30 spilt, it is split a little bit, but it's more like 48/52 in more newer 4x4s, or at least in American trucks I should say

  • AWD can be used full time and can transfer most of the torque to the front wheels if need be. 4X4 can not. 4X4 always sends most power to the back. SO, shut the fuck up you faggot because you dont know shit!! Try to use a 4X4 system for performance and it just will not work. Its only to get you out of mud or a soft surface and will break after a while on a hard surface. AWD is made for that.

  • Also, you little know it aLL, CONDISENDING BITCH, AWD can transfer almost all its power to the front if need be, 4X4 can not. Learn before you speak, Its part of becoming a man.

  • @heatherandpaul2 This still isn't a "4x4" rod, it's got a Cosworth system which is 60/40 power channeling mainly used in rally cars.

    It's built to last.

  • @Arcticun -but if all wheels spin, is that not technically 4X4 ?-maybe not, just sayin. Not to be nitpicky, but isn't it true that some 4X4s only have front and rear wheel drive, but in reality, not ALL four wheels are really spinning. I'm no mechanic so forgive me or being clueless.

  • @zizwop A lot of 4X4, as in your typical pickups, are called 4 wheel drive, but in reality only 1 front and 1 rear will have power. That’s because most trucks have 2 open differentials, they transfer power to the wheel with the least grip. However, you can improve on this by putting some kind of limited slip or locker diff and you will have true power to all 4 wheels, 50/50 distribution. When cars have a different torque distribution, like 60/40 usually it is called all-wheel drive.

  • @Warblade118 Thanks! that was the technical explanation I was looking for. I know when my buddy put a Detroit locker in his Toyota, that thing could climb anything. I have a first generation Rav4, and I think it's just all-wheel drive. It's quite capable for being just a grocery-getting SUV though, and it's very gutless on the street.

  • @zizwop No problem. I know a thing or two about cars and I enjoy answering questions. If you have any more general technical or theory questions go ahead and shoot ‘em my way if you like. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll do my best to get you one. Glad to help.

  • @Warblade118

correction - u will have power going to one wheel front and one wheel rear unless u have limited slips at each end.

most truck called 4wd r in fact rwd unless u select 4x4, this simply connects front prop but they have no centre diff so will wind up on road.

to have full time 4x4 u need a centre diff, which makes 3 diffs in total.

to have different front rear split u need centre diff but it cannot be limited slip much as front and rear props r at different speeds all the time.

  • @tpvalley I think you need to re-read my comment again. You didn’t seen to have understood the context of what I was saying. The question was “isn't it true that some 4X4s only have front and rear wheel drive, but in reality, not ALL four wheels are really spinning?” I answered that question simply, to someone who isn’t an automotive tech expert, just an everyday guy with a question. What your doing isn’t really a correction, its adding things on that had little to do with a basic question.

  • @Warblade118

"when u fit limited slip diffs to each axle all wheels will be spinning"

u missed out the centre differential, u must explain that part or the person geting advice will wonder why they still have only one end driving.

  • @tpvalley Most 4x4 systems don’t come with a “center differential” and most people who modify conventional 4x4 systems with 2 open differentials to include limited or locker types differentials don’t add a center differential because they don’t intend to run 4wd on the street. What I was describing was what fits most situations. When you explain something to someone who is unfamiliar with something, you speak in generalities first, if they want to know more, THEN you go into specifics.

  • @tpvalley

Actually if you are going to correct warblade118 you should look read up on what your saying , no limited slip will give you true 4 wheel drive no matter what Transfer case you have in it that's why they are limited , you would need a locker or weld it .

The transfer case or center differential as you call it , there are so many different styles from full time to part time ,manual ,electric, gear driven, chain driven ,twin stick , etc etc etc so why the blow off ?

  • @90bronco1

it was correction of an answer given to a novice.

some 4x4 are actually just rwd with selectable 4x4 and no centre diff, some r all time 4x4 with centre diff, these r the main types, the fwd with a viscous coupling and different from rear diff ratios dont count in my book.

  • Here is a better way to explain it little boy. If you disable the rear axle on a 4X4 vehicle, the crude front system will not drive the vehicle very well. However, If you disable the rear drive on an AWD, The front drive is just like a Front whell drive vehicle's and would drive like normal with out the rear wheels helping. AWD is like front and rear wheel drive at the same time. 4X4 is not. IT IS TOTALY DIFFERENT. I hope you learned something today.

  • eww...sounds like a jammy rice burner....not a hot rod...

  • i actually think its cool :) 4x4 in a hotrod....fun, usable and cool :)

  • i think u mean all-wheel drive not four wheel any gear head will tell u that there is a difference im not trying to be a prick but it's a common mistake

  • Finally, Somethin different...

its not like there aren't enough 350/350 9" combos out there.

  • you ruined that car with those wheels and that motor

  • Ugly Junk!!!

Shit engine and disco wheels. Not for me...

  • its not a 4x4 its all wheel drive

  • 4x4, 4 wheels, and 4 of them drive. In reality, it's all the same.

  • haha right, "the drive where even the spare wheel spinns" =)

  • This car had an article in Hot Rod magazine last year.

  • Rice rod

  • Dumbass its Swedish.

  • Comment removed

  • has volvo been running a lot of 10 cilinders lately? t5r is a 5 cil. with +- 250 hp (standard)

  • If the cossie drive train would last?? Man cossies can handle more than twice their original power without any chassis or drive train mods!

Anyway why would you go ruin a nice setup with a big heavy american v8? Kinda defies the point of that car, handling.

  • American V8

    Engine: Volvo T5R

    wat

  • Was replying to someone elses comment who said to use an american V8. Read my comment, I said and american v8 would defie the point of thecar which is handling.

  • that sound for a hot rod isnt for me.....at all.

  • needs a turbo then tail pipe to quieten down the fart can noise, but i think a turbo would be pretty cool on it....

  • @digzie1 It is a turbo. A turbo i5 tuned to around 300bhp.

  • sounds like shit

  • pray for flathead v8 brutha......

  • different strokes for different folks i guess...

  • ahhh suicide doors....nice

  • awesome. good build.

  • PÅ MED V8

  • T5R is much more pwerful than a fucked up V8 V8 begins to be boring!

  • Congrats on making it into Hot Rod Magazine... I treasure that article.

  • Thanks

  • Cool good job :)

  • It's strange being so low, but it fascinates me. Good job! :)

  • amazing car! fantastic engineering. kudos to you sir, kudos.

  • looks nice but just isn't right to my ears without the deep v-8 sound.

  • What is the BHP 400ish?

  • meh, i dont like the wheels or the motor

  • thats a fuckin sweet ride dude

Love the cars dont hate the owners

  • when did an american engine last win a world championship???? F1???? rallying??? motorcycle??? erm...no i didn't think so!

america seems to be full of wide open spaces, surrounded by teeth! there is a world out there besides the usa you know boys.

  • the car looks and sounds cool..and ignore the "put a hemi in it" type comments. this car is special because its a bit different.

besides, america can't build a decent engine, not even a v8.. all you yanks should listen to a formula one v8 to hear what one should sound like!

  • ya ok. america has the best sounding v8s in the world

  • thats an opinion jackass.

  • its a fact jackass

  • Go back to school, you don't know the difference between a fact and between a opinion.

  • chevy v8= badass, and chevy is american so i conclude with this AMERICAN ENGINES ARE SUPREME

  • only in sound terms, not performance wise.

  • take a look at the corvette ZR1 or any 350...

  • SICK!!!

  • hot rod* but this is true, this guy needs a real engine like a hemi with barely any pipes then you gotta beast, this rod sounsd like shit.

  • For me, when it comes to sound, you can't get much better than a big cam American v8.

  • Fuckin' Magic!!!

I know the Scandanavian rodders like a good Hill Climb & this should kick some serious arse!!

The Volvo 5-bangers are neat engines, I'd love to know how you mated it to the Cosworth drive train?!

    Well done!!!

  • sounds like a fucking honda.

  • excatley!sounds like shit!

  • mm it does have an in-line 6 and they have some non american accents..

  • good call on the T5R...car's awesome

  • any more information about the build? any links to see pics etc?

  • coolst car ever
