@87shadowfox Comments referring to the like/dislike ratio of a video are sad evidence of the ongoing devolution of society that the internet is largely responsible for. "Liking" is the simplest reaction to something that one can possibly have - a binary "yes" or "no" - and it casts us as infantile consumers rather than critical, thoughtful human beings. Appropriately, these comments themselves are merely "liked" or "disliked," which is all their one-liner attention grandstanding deserves.
I'm from Germany. I understood what you were trying to tell us. I will TRY to answer: Everyone needs those "simple reactions" you mentioned. Even though I often follow my thoughts in every possible direction, I still need to simply laugh or feel angry about something. It's just the "entertainment-part" of my life, which helps me to relax and stay sane. And it's an easy way to communicate with people in an "abstract" way and to feel part of a certain community.
@thefleshpound Greetings from the USA! You make a good point. The concern is simply that, with the proliferation of more entertainment than ever before, we take less time with each moment and operate at a shallow level. We are in danger of becoming ONLY consumers, not generating any personal thoughts or original ideas. Or, we have them, but only as a mean to share and get attention. I think it's worth keeping tabs on these forces.
@spyfoxguy i.e. even if you are discerning "Liker" the gesture itself is still very basic. Write a comment, the process of bouncing thoughts off others ALWAYS grows new ones!
@spyfoxguy I've always looked down on rap as for the lowest class of people, but 1) that song was pretty good, and 2) Imagine my surprise at seeing such a critical analysis of the youtube feedback system on a rap song.

Ahh. I think evil is a bit overdramatic, but the devolution part I agree with. Thanks for your insight.
