I agree with what your saying, but you have to remember, Marj didn't try to play Alex like Bev and Joan didn't try to play Alex like Marj. They each brought their own individual depth to Alex. Joan being british never made much sense as Alex. Alex was not british and Alan had no accent so I never understood that casting. I did enjoy Joan as Alex I mean C'mon, It's Joan Collins! Joan actually left in December of 2002 and Marj's first return airdate was December 22nd of 02.
Joan wasn't Marj or Bev...she was better! She injected a sense of glamor and fun into GL that she took with her when she left. She was fabulous on GL. Any show, be it daytime or primetime, would be lucky to have her. She brings an energy and magnetism to everything she works on!
But I think Joan played Alex more like Bev did originally then did Marj at any point. Not that Marj is bad, but Bev's original Alex was much more subtle in playing anger than Marj has been, and Joan was the same way. Also, this clip is from 2002, not 2003. Joan was unfortunately gone from the show by the 1st of January 2003.
