The original music director and composer of the show's original theme (1975-1979) was Howard Shore (who sometimes performed with his "All Nurse Band") in the early days. That's the same Howard Shore who went on to great success as a film music composer, from "Mrs. Doubtfire" to his current magnum opus, the magnificent score for "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. He will also be scoring "The Hobbit."
