This is a last glance at Spain BEFORE it joined the EU in 1985. The band would have had passport checks and everything. Spain was a different world back then. The girls are looking amazing in their traditional costumes, they are totally thrilled with the boys and the camera crew, and they're as cute as buttons.
@XabiAlonsosCousin Yeah, that's why when he tries to act serious and angry at times (like during "Howling wind", "I cant get a grip on"), it is far from convincing and in fact looks comical.
@rahejaarcade They seemed to me a bit like depeche mode at the time in that they liked to be making music in the studio and playing to thier fans but were a bit uncomfortable making promos. It was just a necessary chore. For todays teens these videos must look really cheap and silly, but todays standard is to throw a fortune at the video, hire posh directors to maximise your profit with teens etc
Its funny watching these videos having also seen them 'in thier time'
@XabiAlonsosCousin Actually, this video is not bad at all.. It has a lot of entertainment value. I must have watched it at least a dozen times already!
PS- I don't find the thumbs up/down buttons working on this page for some reason.
Just to let everyone know that @TheNewMusicNetwork, left a rather abusive personal message with me that I found unintentionally (no doubt!) hilarious. Having seen his channel page, I can say that his multiple talents are surpassed only by his gigantic ego! Amongst other things he is a produDer, (sic!) band, (presumably 1 man?) B Movie film maker (you can probably guess what the "B" stands for) & comedian. His modesty forbade him from adding that he is also an authority on Blancmange!
@MisAnnThorpe- Theres waaaaaaayyyyyy too many of those know-it-all "musicians" here on youtube.. They need to give up, shut up and down another 24 pac
Great channel! 12" blind vision brilliant! I have subscribed! Please stop by my channel i have begun putting some electronic hits in acoustic for which you may enjoy! more to come!
This really is a great song though the video looks like it cost about £500 to make and seems to pay no relevance to the lyrics. I guess the video is at least reflective of the age.

@Sublimity2007 they are releasing an album early next year and are going to do a uk tour..I posted a link at the top..personally I cant wait to go and see them again
I was too young to remember Blancmange...I was about 2 when this song came out. Looking through all my dad's old LP's I came across Happy Families and Second Helpings. I prefer this song to Living On The Ceiling but thats just me...I think they are both great songs. But if you ask someone to name one Blancmange song, most of the time they will answer Living On The Ceiling.
How come the youth were so musically imaginative back then and so piss poor today and yet the technology is about 1000 times more advanced today? Is it because they are all wasting their talents at Uni?
Oh love it so much! Anyone know the location where this was shot and what type of occasion it was? The women are so beautiful! That singer is such a goof-ball in the best of ways ;)
@LawrenceLugar1 - you sissy. what the f... pre-anything... whine whine whine. this was my music as well, still like it but things moved on so just stop being old.
In a way this was a bit advnace din that they used snappy cutts intermixed atmospheric footage... and the nice bits of stuff in the shots didnt half help too ... but these Eastern European beauties were rather confused with their appearance and confused them for a pair of hairdressers from Leeds .. on tour ...
@LawrenceLugar1 I agree completely. Granted, I'm only 27 so I've only experienced a bit of the pre-technology world we're submerged in these days. One advantage though...if it weren't for something like the internet, there'd be alot of people like me who wouldn't know about great music like this. But yes, the fashion and music of this era- GREAT!!!
The days when music was born of talent and crafted skill, not like the sewage poluting the airwaves today, record companies cant complain they're going broke when they only back quick fix loosers who last 5 minutes, if they don't hype it the sheep won't buy it, get some proper musicians on the radio and TV and ditch the karaoke puppets.
Will the remarkable talent of bands like this ever get the credit they deserve?
@TheNewMusicNetwork It seems YOU are the "ignorant shitbag". Have a look at the musician credits on their final album, "Believe you me". There are many real instruments played by the likes of David Rhodes, Paul Webb, Hugh Masakela and the previously mentioned Pandit Dinesh amongst many others. Ignorance combined with arrogance is a truly horrible combination, believe you me!
@TheNewMusicNetwork Prove what? That Blancmange DID use real instruments or that ignorance and arrogance combined make for the kind of person who is hated even by their own (rich) parents?
@LawrenceLugar1 so true..A bit of effort had to be made to meet up with people, and venturing out on a weekend you never knew who would be where or who you would meet. Nowadays it's all prearranged by text. Societal interactions have changed immeasurably since then.
Plus back then you could drop off the radar for a while, whilst now it is next to impossible :)
seeing as you've asked, i much prefer living on the ceiling to don't tell me.
