I have the Skyrim PS3 version. But I didn't start playing it until after the 1.3 patch came out. So I never saw any of the bag lag issues that others were complaining about. My copy sat on my bookshelf for a few weeks before I had time to play it because I was busy with work. There are some other issues with 1.3 (minor lag in some areas after your save file gets over 6k. But the 1.4 patch will address that. But so far or me I'm not having problems.

I think everyone who thinks they want FFVII remade exactly the same with 1080 graphics is just lying. To be clear I have played FFVII about 10 times through. But that was a long time ago, and not b/c of the graphics, but b/c I've done it all, I've used every character, played with only yellow materia, killed every weapon. The real test would be to take the same amazing story, and alter the game enough so that fans would be surprised, even sad (#Aeris), without feeling like a replay

I have Skyrim for the PS3 and I noticed that my game has been breaking more. Before the patch, my game had no problems. After downloading the patch, I noticed that my game is freezing more. It stops loading during loading screens and during some cutscenes, it just plain up freezes. Horrible patch.

The PS3 patch corrected (among other things) the extended play performance issue but replaced it with a complete freeze of the console. Almost would have rather had the performance issue since the correction for that was to simply quit then restart the game. Now with the freeze you have to power down the console at the console as the controller commands are not read.
Hm. Maybe what Square could do is the same story and goodies from FFVI but with revamped graphics a la Advent Children/FF13. Then later offer a HD revamp of the classic game as DLC or something.

Most of my skyrim crashes seem to be related to the "always run" key. Often when I kill a dragon, it will crash but if I turn off running just before it dies then it will be fine.

Nice statement from Yoshihiro Kitase, and quite honestly it makes sense. When they released FF7: Advent Children I had mixed feelings about the look and direction. And really, FF7 has seen its share in the spotlight.

@PressHeartToContinue Looking at the patch notes, it only patches the sound issue crash. Otherwise seems like game related or control related stuff for PC. The reason for Skyrim crashing is simply that it is designed for PS3 and uses only 2gb RAM even on PC, All crash issues can be pretty much fixed by allowing the .exe file to use more than 2gb :)
@PressHeartToContinue the only problem (and i know I'm not EVERYONE) I've had with skyrim crashing is actually running with steam. When stand alone skyrim never crashes but steam seems to love making skyrim go "I hate you. *disappear*"
for PC its hard to make the games perfectly stable due to the many different set ups that are possible. with a Console everyones got the same hardware, so they know exactly how to limit the game to keep it from lagging and crashing as much. but i have never seen a Bethesda Game that didnt have major issues. even after patches.

@JSLpictures my computer at random points will close the game. it won't give me any warning, the program just closes. Same with the other 3 PCs i have in my house.
@JSLpictures Everything runs fine (60FPS) for me except in every major city there's a certain looking angle where framerate drops. This is apparent mostly in Markarth. This is definitely sloppy optimization, not my computer (GTX 570 & i5 2500K OC). I want a patch for that.
@Soreanol Well, personally i play the game at 30-50FPS (Usually around 40) My specs: HD6950 & Phenom II x6 1090T So as far as you being able to play at 60FPS I wouldn't wait for a patch for that. At times my FPS drops below 30 and that's really where I notice it. Remember, it's a console port, and console games run at 60fps tops, no more.
@JSLpictures We also have to remember that this is an Elder Scrolls game, meaning it can run at any framerate with the the Vsync disabled from the ini settings. The console versions run at 30FPS, so that does not affect the PC in any way. Optimization patches (if unofficial ones) will probably come out in the near future, there's already one but it does nothing for me.
If they were to remake a FF game surely it would make more sense to do FF6. Many people claim it's the best one and it would be interesting to see those characters rendered in 3D.

Just so you know Dodger, if you want to talk about copying concepts, Smash Bros was a copy of Fighter's Megamix, SEGAs zany crossover fighting game, which had stuff like Shun Di from Virtua Fighter getting beaten up by Hornet, the CAR in Daytona.
I have the PS3 version of Skyrim and I have to say the lag is gone. My save file is now 7MBs and rising and I'm not seeing any lag whatsoever. They still need to fix the issue of me not being able to buy the Markarth house and a few other things.
Okay, big time FF VII fan here, and I like the answer that they'd feel like re-making the game wouldn't be as fun for them. Honestly...I think that some things could be "changed" "lengthened" or "enhanced" and still make the long time fans happy. Battle system change to being like FF XIII or something?? BAAAD choice. We still want nostalgia and not new combat. New summon looks? go for it.

I haven't had any of the big problems that people complain about for the 360. The one issue that I had was for 8 nonconsecutive hours of play, I had an arrow sticking directly out of the middle of my character's forehead, and I couldn't get rid of it.

I think people are just looking for updated graphics which would be boring to remake, so I completely understand. I think III, IV, and the like were easier to change because not many people had played those particular titles, and the small changes such as Augments were easy to implement. That said, I was more drawn to The After Years than FFIV DS because it gave something new to the story rather than rehash an already completed project. Point is, Final Fantasy games are not meant to be remade.

So far I feel like the patch has helped a lot, the game feels a lot more responsive, but I also turned off all the autosaves. I end up a lot of the time in Whiterun, and that's namely where I encountered a lot of the problems with performance. Haven't been back since, but I would wager that between turning off the auto-saves and the patch, it should be a lot better.
And also.....Sony Smash-Bros?!?!?! Mind blowing....I wonder if it will play more like MvC, or perhaps just more down-to-earth.

If they are going to re-make the game, but stray from the original game, their time is probably better spent making an actual new, different game instead. We know the characters within their universe, we know their stories and their hardships; if the characters were different, (like if Cid didn't have a sailor's mouth and stopped smoking, like in Kingdom Hearts) then that would detract from the representation of the game as we know it.
after downloading the patch, i experience lag much faster than i usually do (since my file size is 14mb I can usually play for two hours without much lag) so I don't know if it's going to be very effective
Skyrim Lag on the PS3/360 can only be patched so much, its just pushing the hardware to it's limit/ Thats why I plan on buying Skyrim for the PC. If it doesn't run smooth on my current rig (though it probably will) I can always upgrade.
I've noticed the difference in Skyrim. I ran into all of the "rare" glitched they fixed and it's nice to finally not be having as many problems while playing.
But the underwater aspect I felt wasn't used enough to even be part of the game. Chocobos had more involvement. Maybe more mini games? real sword sizes and arms that are not like that popeye dude. You know that kinda stuff.
A few important things like the weapons I mention in another comment and the most important thing, less cloths on Tifa. You know, that kinda stuff.
Well, the question is... what would they change... I mean, if they stuck to everything being pretty much the same, but they changed small things that didn't really alter the story, I could live with it. The game was flawless for the most part but a few things in that game kinda felt snaggish.
Kinda like the weapons not having a true involvement in the story except the one. I mean, they are what they are and all they do is sit around unless you provoke them. Like Mexicans. ; )
Not exactly surprised about Sony copying Nintendo again. I mean, the move is a complete copy, thou an improvement, of the wii controller. I wish Sony would be a little inventive, like Microsoft with Kinect

@JSLpictures Everything runs fine (60FPS) for me except in every major city there's a certain looking angle where framerate drops. This is apparent mostly in Markarth. This is definitely sloppy optimization, not my computer (GTX 570 & i5 2500K OC). I want a patch for that.

@Soreanol Well, personally i play the game at 30-50FPS (Usually around 40) My specs: HD6950 & Phenom II x6 1090T So as far as you being able to play at 60FPS I wouldn't wait for a patch for that. At times my FPS drops below 30 and that's really where I notice it. Remember, it's a console port, and console games run at 60fps tops, no more.

@JSLpictures We also have to remember that this is an Elder Scrolls game, meaning it can run at any framerate with the the Vsync disabled from the ini settings. The console versions run at 30FPS, so that does not affect the PC in any way. Optimization patches (if unofficial ones) will probably come out in the near future, there's already one but it does nothing for me.

I have the PS3 version of Skyrim and I have to say the lag is gone. My save file is now 7MBs and rising and I'm not seeing any lag whatsoever. They still need to fix the issue of me not being able to buy the Markarth house and a few other things.

Okay, big time FF VII fan here, and I like the answer that they'd feel like re-making the game wouldn't be as fun for them. Honestly...I think that some things could be "changed" "lengthened" or "enhanced" and still make the long time fans happy. Battle system change to being like FF XIII or something?? BAAAD choice. We still want nostalgia and not new combat. New summon looks? go for it.
....please just leave the W-Item infinite item glitch in there...otherwise fighting magic pots will suck.

I haven't had any of the big problems that people complain about for the 360. The one issue that I had was for 8 nonconsecutive hours of play, I had an arrow sticking directly out of the middle of my character's forehead, and I couldn't get rid of it.

I think people are just looking for updated graphics which would be boring to remake, so I completely understand. I think III, IV, and the like were easier to change because not many people had played those particular titles, and the small changes such as Augments were easy to implement. That said, I was more drawn to The After Years than FFIV DS because it gave something new to the story rather than rehash an already completed project. Point is, Final Fantasy games are not meant to be remade.

So far I feel like the patch has helped a lot, the game feels a lot more responsive, but I also turned off all the autosaves. I end up a lot of the time in Whiterun, and that's namely where I encountered a lot of the problems with performance. Haven't been back since, but I would wager that between turning off the auto-saves and the patch, it should be a lot better.
And also.....Sony Smash-Bros?!?!?! Mind blowing....I wonder if it will play more like MvC, or perhaps just more down-to-earth.

@8787878787787 I feel like I agree with Dodger. If they are going to re-make the game, but stray from the original game, their time is probably better spent making an actual new, different game instead. We know the characters within their universe, we know their stories and their hardships; if the characters were different, (like if Cid didn't have a sailor's mouth and stopped smoking, like in Kingdom Hearts) then that would detract from the representation of the game as we know it.

after downloading the patch, i experience lag much faster than i usually do (since my file size is 14mb I can usually play for two hours without much lag) so I don't know if it's going to be very effective

Skyrim Lag on the PS3/360 can only be patched so much, its just pushing the hardware to it's limit/ Thats why I plan on buying Skyrim for the PC. If it doesn't run smooth on my current rig (though it probably will) I can always upgrade.

But the underwater aspect I felt wasn't used enough to even be part of the game. Chocobos had more involvement. Maybe more mini games? real sword sizes and arms that are not like that popeye dude. You know that kinda stuff.
A few important things like the weapons I mention in another comment and the most important thing, less cloths on Tifa. You know, that kinda stuff.

Well, the question is... what would they change... I mean, if they stuck to everything being pretty much the same, but they changed small things that didn't really alter the story, I could live with it. The game was flawless for the most part but a few things in that game kinda felt snaggish.
Kinda like the weapons not having a true involvement in the story except the one. I mean, they are what they are and all they do is sit around unless you provoke them. Like Mexicans. ; )

Hi Dodger, hope I spelled your name right. I downloaded the ps3 patch for skyrim today and it still lags a little bit and my save is at 14mb but still somewhat of an improvement. Though I think for the game to run smooth the graphics are going to take a hit so I am fine with a little lag.
