  • Hi Michelle,

I have Gum Traganacth powder, could I use it instead of the CMC? at the same rate?

Love watching your vidoes has inspired me to get back into decorating again.

  • @snoozyv I am pretty sure you can as this is the natural version of tylose. You will need to let the sugarpaste rest overnight as I think it takes a little longer to work.

  • Great tutorial I have used this recipe alot since watching this video works great!

  • does this work with marshmallow fondant ?

  • @fairuszk I have not made or used marshmallow fondant so I do not know - sorry.

  • When you take it out of the fridge or freezer, how long does it take to "warm up" to the temp to use effectively, or should say how do you know it is warmed all the way through do you keep unwrapping it and poking it?

  • @StrawbearyTart depending on the temperature of your room - summer/winter it will take a couple of hours.

  • With all the working of the dough, do you have trouble with air bubbles?

  • @joannemspence1963 Hi I do not have a problem with air bubbles. This trick is not to fold air in as you knead. Thank you for watching.

  • Hi. Does this recipe apply if I made my fondant with marshmallows? Thanks.

  • @brianie1004 To be honest I really do not know. I have never made or used marshmallow fondant - sorry - it's probably worth a try though.

  • Hi. What's a CMC? Sorry, I'm new at this :)

  • @brianie1004 It is also known as Tylose. It is a powdered gum which is easily found at cake decorating shops. Thank you for asking. Bye for now, Michelle

  • yey i have all the ingredients at home for this! fab video thankyou very much x x

  • I'll bet you have some serious muscles after kneading this over and over on a weekly basis!

  • is it ok to buy ready made or is it better to make your own

    kind regards

  • @hikinguphigh both work so really it is what ever is easiest for you - some of the ready made come in a range of colours so this can save you some time.

  • Hello Michelle,

I made the flowerpaste at home, but after a while brown spots came up. Can you tell me whats the cause of this?

    Regards,

    Brigitte from the Netherlands

  • @mvdwouw Hi Brigitte, the paste needs to be kept in the fridge for up to one week or can be kept in the freezer very well wrapped for 3 months.

  • Hello Michelle,

  • @mvdwouw Hi Brigitte, I have not had this problem. When you are not using the paste it should be stored in the fridge or freezer. Make sure that everything is clean when you make it. Also I make it then divide it in to smaller pieces and wrap these and store in the freezer which is where it lasts longer.

  • hi michelle, i live in hong kong where its pretty humid. my fondant flowers dries and hardens when i leave them in an air-conditioned room, but once i bring them out into room temp, they start to soften and drop. what can i do?? thx!

  • @jckyjwbk hi to be honest I have not got a solution - I know the weather in Hong Kong well and I have the same problem here in Sydney in February. The only way I cope is to leave the flowers till the last minute and store them once they are dry in airtight containers. Sorry I have not been any help. Bye for now, Michelle

  • Hi Michelle.. Thanks for sharing.. I saw your cakes pic on this clip.. 3 tiers cakes and on the middle one with the ruffles.. what did you use to make that ruffles?? fondant or sugarpaste flower paste?? thanks once again.. blessings,

  • @raphaellebakes Just fondant although if I was going to make the ruffle thinner I would probably use flower paste or at least fondant with CMC. I thought you might like to know this cake is a post on my blog so there is a larger photo on there. It will not let me put a link here but it is inspiredbymichelleblog(dot)com and just type in white wedding cake. Bye for now, Michelle

  • when you leave it overnight, is that at room temp?

  • @chalkae Yes I usually do but sometimes in the fridge also especially in the heat of summer.

  • Thanks again Michelle, will give it a go over the Easter break!

  • Michelle you are wonderful for adding all your tutorials. I have learned so much from watching. I am practicing your peony rose..It's just gorgeous. I have to say that I just love your work.

  • i love your work michelle thanks for sharing

  • If you are in Australia all the cake decorating supply stores sell CMC or Tylose.

  • What is CMC? I am from the USA and not familiar with this. Would this be somethign like Tyolse?

  • @Juleeab Thanks for watching yes you can use tylose.

  • Sorry... I can't understand pretty well

that recipe is for make flowers?

can you write the recipe please!.. I'll be very gratefull

  • @MonyKitty

Yes this is the recipe I use when I want to make sugar flowers like the ones at the end of the video. I do not use pre-made paste or powder mix I prefer to make my own - it is really quick and easy.

    These are the ingredients -

    500g fondant

    1 teaspoon CMC

    1/3 teaspoon egg white

    2 teaspoon cream of tartar

    1/4 teaspoon glycerin

then follow the instructions in the video

I hope this helps. Bye for now, Michelle

  • @InspiredByMichelle Thanks for your answer Michelle!!! :)

I'm going to try this... Thanks a lot
