  • edit: "Hunter's chorus" ...pretty cool (and the story of Freischuetz is decent as well)

  • The 'Jaegerchorus' does rule them all :P I & my mother bought my grandparents a ticket for the performance in the Semper-Oper (the thing, which was bombed during the 2nd WW in Dresden) and she was so frigging happy.

  • I Like This Song!

  • todos buscamos esto por rip van winkle

  • Thumbs up if you got here after you typed in Weber in your dictionary while playing scrabble to find it was not only a word but a person!

  • I know this song because we played it last year in band. C: Had no idea it was in an anime. O: But yeah, love this piece so much. <3

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • I've heard of this opera before I watched Hellsing, and thought of finding it. But it was Hellsing that got me to really look for it. ;P

  • phantastic music from an underastimated genius!

  • Rip Van Winkle!

  • This musical piece is mentioned in Spring Torrents. It's beautiful.

  • @iDareYou998

I never thaught that much people would've thumbs up for real ^^

  • Meravigliosa.

  • Ich ein deutch

  • @hidden953

    nein du bist ein croat...

  • @windstorm1000

But it's used in Hellsing OVA in a very epic and cinematic scene and there it matches perfectly.

  • I love this overture. Such a great combination of the romantic, the folk, and the creepy mysterious. Irresistable.

  • As sad as it may seems that a huge deal of young people does only know this opera through Japanese cartoon trash, it does at least make them listen to classical music.

    Sic transit gloria mundi.

  • @ZoltepZaan I listened to classic music before watching animes ^^ But Hellsing brought me to 'Der Freischütz'.

  • @ZoltepZaan

but not everyone has the taste of opera, im sure even you was brought to something because of something else, ya cant really bash people cuz they have different interests, atleast they come here, wanting to listen to the whole thing instead of the 20 sec. clip on the show...jus saying..

  • @ZoltepZaan fuck you mate...and dont u ever call anime trash...i bet u do 10 things in your life that i think they are trash and yet i dint go on the internet and call them trash...it is your opinion and u should better keep it for yourself...and i didnt wait for animes to teach me classical music...i listen to classical music from 4 i am 16 and i love it...so back off..and what u said btw isnt sad at all...because, because of that "trash" many people get to know classical music which is great..

  • @ZoltepZaan ur tr@$h XD

  • @ZoltepZaan Um.....fuck you. =)

  • @hAvan4LyFe Ah! Swearing on a classical page! Be civilised people, please! This is like blasphemy!

  • I know KMVW from his excellent bassoon concerto. Lovely composer. This piece is quite different however.

  • I know KMVW from his excellent bassoon concerto. Lovely composer.

  • Im a huge classical music fan, being a musician myself in the orchestra genres in addition to being a huge Hellsing fan as well so this is the music I live for :D

  • meine kameraden england je russland unsere rache is allgegenwertig

und wir schmerzen für büse der schmach von leid

  • Never heard of "Hellsing" or whatever. This has been good music for a very long time.

  • Simplemente mi favorita, magistral, genialidad por parte de Von Weber.

  • GREAT DRAMATIC OVERTURE. TUNEFUL, HEROIC AND SPOOKY!!! Weber's a genius. pre-dated Wagner. Weber--hero of the wald and the German folk culture!!! ALL HAIL!!!

  • This good for homework

  • Excellent performance, and I could'nt care less what or who "Hellsing" is or isn't.

  • @BenBarfuss You probably know who Abraham Van Helsing is though, right?

  • @NeverAloneForever Actually (as indicated) not. But I can google, and thereby recollect skipping that boring monster-length novel when it was assigned in Freshman Lit. I am willing to admit that the story is a good one, which is does not therefore rationalize thousands of dumb-as-dirt crap imitations. Also visited the Tepes castle in Transylvania once which was impressive. Can't see that any of this has more than a very distant connection to Freischütz (a splendid opera!).

  • @BenBarfuss Definitely not. The only relation would be the usage of this piece.

You're lucky. I've always wanted to visit that castle. I'm Audi.

  • Thumbs up if you DIDN'T find this via Hellsing...

  • @jadedmandolin

And Tumbs up for those who found this VIA Rip Van Winkle from Hellsing xDD

  • @MilleniumEmpire EPIC BATTLE XD

  • @rpablom18

    Apparently yes XD

  • @MilleniumEmpire I didnt find it from Hellsing, but I do watch Hellsing x'D I' doing a project in music class soo...yea but I know I've heard this in the ova?

  • @XalonewaitingKairiX

Yeah , but a " slightly " differant version xD

  • @jadedmandolin

    Why Hellsing?? O.o

  • @diesersatzkeinberb2 because a woman sing in the anime "der freischütz"

  • @Break4freedom

ok! ^^ which part of the opera??

  • @diesersatzkeinberb2 xD öhm, da fragste mich was

  • @jadedmandolin

"why ?.. because .. I did find it via Hellsing.. and Im awesome.. so in your face -clank-"

  • @jadedmandolin

    What's a Van Hellsing?

  • @twooffour ur daddy

  • @jadedmandolin I found this via Salieri´s quote: "the most german of all german composers", I was curious

  • @ThePhilosorpheus if you're interested in German composers, Richard Wagner composed many true German Opera's and other pieces. He would definitely be considered "the most German of all German composers". Unfortunately he was extremely anti-semetic, he was one of the Third Reichs approved composers and was said to have influenced Hitler in ways, one downfall of the smart composer.

  • @emmthorne I´ve listened to some of Wagners works, but I still find Beethoven the most german of german composers, even on his most italian-style compositions. Wagner seems to me a bit too pretentious, it´s more like what germans wanted to believe themselves to be rather than what they actually were, most of the mythology on his operas is scandinavian, german culture is much more influenced by others than scandinavian culture so that strong german identity he protrays doesn´t seem very real.

  • @jadedmandolin

All the ways of get some culture are right.

  • @jadedmandolin - Who is Hellsing?

  • @goldie0800 an animated show.

  • @frenchfry113095 - ok, thanks.

  • @goldie0800 you're welcome ^__^

  • @goldie0800 opposite of twilight

  • @goldie0800 I thinks he is the man from Dracula

  • @jadedmandolin Does it really matter how people found it? Young people today don't know what good music is, and so what if they've found it through a cartoon? who are we to be so hostile torwards people who simply found music they enjoy through a cartoon they enjoy? Is that so wrong?

  • @KrXxXxXx tienes razon... eso no deberia importar mucho o si?

  • @KrXxXxXx I am old.

  • @jadedmandolin I didn't find this vid via hellsing, but the other version with the voice, I did find via hellsing.

  • Rip Van Winkle sing this...it's just epic song !!!

I love this so much !!!!

  • @XxSepulturaLovexX What's all this with Rip VAn Winkle?? This overture existed before that. Its for an opera.

  • And some people say you cant learn anything from animes! I think not many young people would know this piece if it has been not used in Helssing!

  • heil hellsing

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of the Hellsing OVA

  • @durban59

haha, it's the other way round for me. now i can't stop watching hellsing

  • @lupecita1984 Well try to.

  • i don't think you're a freak, you just have good taste :-)

  • Oh how I love classical music and will forever be thankful for a first year college prof who provided it as a soundtrack to a history montage and got me hooked at 19. Beautiful music is timeless. To all who've inspired a love in classical music to those never exposed to it - we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It helped while studying too!

  • I'd like to see if justin beiber can make such a masterpeice!!!!....I'm guessing NOT!

  • Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor. My bullet punishes all, without distinction.

    <3

  • @batcountryrabid LOL Hellsing got you here too ^_^ ?

  • @MadaraXIII I know its tacky, but its better than nothing. This is after all a great piece of opera, better it be this than britney spears

  • @batcountryrabid Not tacky at all that a Great work of anime would incorporate such a great work of music. Shoot I took the time to listen to this whole song and man Im lovin the story behind this opera

  • 8:57

  • I love classical music, I'm 16, whenever I've had my friends over and it's been playing they can't stand it, even the climactic parts. They can't see the light, I guess people are musically deaf to anything but modern music these days, which becomes old in a week, but classical is timeless.

  • One of the under-rated composers

  • questa musica è veramente meravigliosa, un gioiello della cultura

  • i love it... *starts crying*

  • @ Falonefal. iam not realy a fan of classical music but it is realy impressiv and can bound a heart. But for me is more impressive that a person in your age is able to talk so wonderfull about such a great work like Der Freischütz. I am so glad that there are teenagers are, whit a good taste of Art. Thank your very much.

  • This song is Beautiful... Its a fine piece of work..or much more a masterpiece.

  • I love it from 3:30 :DD

  • nowaday most peaple are so superficial, they can't enjoy such a fine piece like this one. What is worst is that they even dare to make fun of those who truthly enjoy this beutifull music, just because they can`t even begin to understand such wonder.

  • @Scorpion2135

Only stupid people and the French dislike this music, stupid people because they can't spell ''beautiful'' and the French because it's German.

  • same here falonefal same here

  • This is amazing! And it's even better if you know the story behind this. It's a legend from the 30-years war, when 30% of the population in Germany was killed by that time

  • Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Sailor...

  • schöön.. aber die oper hatte erst am 18.06.1821 ihre uraufführung und nicht schon 1820

  • Einfach wunderschön! Ich liebe die Werke von "von Weber" !

  • i just watched Hellsing Ultimate

  • @E23443

    WIN

  • same here!!!

    My my So Cool!!!

  • Ein Traum! Anmutig und einfach bezaubernd !

  • lol hellsing ova 4

  • hahhaha yes the song of the vampire i like this song

  • me encanta este tipo de musica carl mario weber fue un

    GENIO

  • I like classical music, but this one sounds too... Academic for me. I don't think it is quite innovating or remarquable. I don't know. Weber is a great composer anyway, but I don't like his creations that much.

But that is only my opinion.

  • i like classical music too but this one does sound like too academic or......intelligent.

  • I like classical music but this one sounds too... Academic for me. Not quite innovating or remarquable.

But that only is my opinion.

  • In my opinion Weber's melodic lines are too much verbose. When I compare Weber with Mozart it comes to my mind a bulldozer against a Ferrari, so to speak. Someone could explain me the right way to listen to Weber? If I find him so boring there is something wrong in my approach, I think. Bye.

  • The thing is, this particular song was intended to be quite simple and more like patriotic since it was inspired on famous folk songs of the time. It was intended for the general public i guess and also, the french horns werent very developed at that time which meant that they could only play simple parts thus limiting the chords being used. I hope it helps!

  • Useful infos, AYM9000. Thank you!

  • You are also comparing music from two completely different periods. Classical music, especially that of Mozart, follows strict melodic and harmonic structure and rules. Weber is early Romantic, much broader and lengthy melodies and more dramatic and emotional subject matter. Emotion is virtuosity in the Romantic era was greatly influenced by Beethoven's 9th. Think of Classical as Spock and Romantic as William Shatner.

  • Love that Metaphor of Spock and Shatner!

  • I´ll never forget the sensation this overture brings me...this was my first opera.. =)

  • i love classical music and my favourite composers are weber and bach.

  • What about Beethoven, Mozart, Thcaikovsky, Strauss, Dvorak, Mahler, Grieg, Rachmaninov, Verdi and Wagner?

  • I don't know... i like them all. I never said weber and bach are the only ones.

  • Me agree too ( i´m just 15 and love carl maria von weber )

  • I agree.

  • I am a 16 year old boy and I am a complete freak...

Because I love classical music much more than pop...

Every classical piece has a story, that you can feel, and hear... if you just listen.

Every piece can inspire you, or make you feel better, or let you cry to lighten your soul. Classical pieces are amazing.

Pop is dust. It comes down, and then it disappears in the blast of other concurrents..

Classical Music doesn't have concurrents... Every masterpiece is an individual independant creation.

  • society is THE FREAK you are the sane one

  • there's nothing wrong with you...i wish i had started younger enjoying classical pieces....but it's never too late...

  • @Falonefal Why does that make you a freak???Classical music at least realy is music! Everything produced today is just an echo of culture-.-

  • @Takeonazon I think he meant that others saw him that way - others that listen to pop ... and not classical ... \\(-.||(-.-)||.-)//

  • @Falonefal nice to hear that I'm not the only "freak" as you call it :) Im 17 and love classical music too, but are we really the freaks? I agree in each point of your view. All the best

  • @BeninMusik

    Nice to read that.

Im about to be 18 and like classical music as well.

I just wouldnt say that pop is 100% "bad" / classical music "100% great" - it depends.

but just the fact, that everybody knows mozart, and so many of the "great newcomers" of the last two centuries are about to be forgotten at all.

  • @Falonefal You're a 16 year old boy and you're already a pretentious prick...nice.

  • @fogadz pretentious > snide

  • @NotHomelessAnymore you're wrong, ill leave you to wonder why. Additionally, i completely agree with @ChinLinn haha.

  • @fogadz you're a charmless cunt with nothing worthwhile to say... I'll leave you to wonder why... alternatively you could kill yourself.

  • @NotHomelessAnymore So why were you homeless? Is it because you failed at basic logic? haha

  • @fogadz it's great you find yourself so hilarious... have you killed yourself yet?

  • @Falonefal While I agree with you, I must regretfully inform you that "concurrents" is not a word. Moreover, the attempted use of the word "concurrent" here is no only inappropriate, it makes you A HUGE FAGGOT.

  • @ChinLinn unless you're just fogatz' sock puppet (I hope you understand my suspicions given the similarly retarded, fratboy nature of both your flaccid attempts at "humour"), you are just another pathetic, worthless Internet entity as evidenced by this comment you made about James Levine.

"are those pubes on that guise head?"

Why don't you come back when you're at least ten years old you thick cunt?

  • @Falonefal That is possibly the best description of classical music I have ever read. I agree 100%.

  • @milkygoodness Are you familiar with Leonard Bernstein?

Man. That man will give you a good description of classical music (as well as educating you a lot in it!), I can tell you that ;)

  • I am a 16 year old boy, and I completely agree.

  • @Falonefal You are by no means a freak, there is no shame in liking beautiful music.

    take care!

  • @Falonefal im strange too, im 15 and i love music such as heavy metal and techno and system of a down but i also admire classical alot

  • @Falonefal don't worry there are others who love classical music as much as you.

    . . .

I love this piece, it is absolutely beautiful!

  • @Falonefal i definately agree with you i am 13 and love classical music. everybody that i know thinks im gay because i listen to it but its so much better than pop and rap

  • @Falonefal I'm 15 and feel the exact same way about classical; there's a part of the composer's soul and thought and heart in a piece that isn't found in synthesized, auto-tuned pop or rap.
