Seriously, I'm so sick of the liberal cheerleaders pretending to be objective. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of hasselbeck. I think she's nothing but a republican, bill o'reily cheerleader. But the reality is there is no such thing as objective journalism anymore and that is why it's a dying career. Shows like the view pretend to show both sides of the issue but the truth is they show you 3 strong liberal ladies discussing everything and one weak excuse for a conservative viewpoint.
Of course fox news sounds conservative! its a network that takes goes over the material and all the facts and give you all the news! They have just come to the conclusion that when all the facts are given it just make more sense to be a conservative. I've watched both MSNBC and and fox news and i have found out that i know more facts about the news on fox news then anybody else... so you can go back to watching MSNBC where they only show select things to make liberals look better
@chevcamaro23 You are doing precisely what Fox "news" does, make assumptions, thus making asses out of yourselves. Fox does not report news they comment on fact. How is it that you can write a paragraph worth of garbage based on my two-lined comment? By making assumptions, you make commentary on issues you don't even know are true. Firstly, I don't watch MSNBC, they are too left leaning, I am a centrist. Secondly, you missed the main subject of my commentary- that is the presents of Hasselbeck.
Wow!!!! What an obvious display of bias. These women were straight up rude to Sen McCain. They should be ashamed of themselves taking into consideration that he did more for our country than all of them put together. No wonder the President is going back on there Thurs. I can't stomach it! 2012 hurry up so we can vote in a new President before this one runs our country in the ground!
I voted for Obama. Prefer him. But the View, especially Barbara, was so incredibly biased towards Obama I couldn't believe it. I remember when Barbara said to McCains wife "So, tell us, how many houses do you have" - to which his wife had to say "You know what, that is not a part of this campaign."
And Whoopies slave comment. Come on.
What an embaressment. I am a liberal but not a democrat. Fuck these people.
Actually they just pointed out that they are lies and he wants the slave owning founding fathers who hated christianity and churches altogether. The founding fathers were deists, not Christians so how long are they going to keep lying about that? I am tired of that. All men are created equal but own slaves? They said one thing and did another, that is what the founding fathers believed in.
this show is BS, and did whoopie really say we shouldnt follow the constitution because she would have to be a slave? is she unaware of the 14th and 15th amendment? this show is just a bunch of dumbass liberal housewives that have no idea what theyre talking about.
@timjones066 No, she didn't really say that. McCain said he wanted the constitution interpreted the same way the founding fathers did. They wrote that "...all men are created equal" while owning slaves. How is that hard to understand? The point is that we need to keep changing the constitution because it wasn't meant to be perfect. It was meant to be changed as our society changed. So, calling them dumbass liberal housewives you made a comment like Emily Litella would..
@freeasabird12907 Yeah, why didn't they treat the sexy younger black man with the witty remarks, good sense of humor, and eloguence exactly like they did the grumpy old man who lied, stuttered, couldn't remember the answer so he talked about another Vietnam story, and sounded lame? That wasn't fair, what's wrong with them?
what a trashy program , a panel of left wing housewives , they haven't a clue about politics or anything else , drooling over Mr Obama like a group of young girls at a boy band concert, a year in to the Obama presidency its clear he has achieved absolutely nothing apart from spending more and more u.s. taxpayers money and getting the country deeper and deeper into debt, hope you americans wise up soon (Richard UK)
I think that Obama and McCain were both good Presidential Candidates...both with their own strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully, Mr Obama will put in a good 4 or 8 years as President :-)
However, this kind of obvious media bias was just sickening to watch. Regardless of their personal opinions, could they have at least TRIED to be even-handed? Why was McCain given the (proper) drilling, while Obama was slobbered all over? No one who runs for President should be fawned all over like that.
As Joy Behar mentioned in a similar clip "The View" is regularly cited by major publications like the New York Times. Bottom line: People are influenced by what they watch on television. The entire purpose of the View is to provide debate; that's why there's a moderator. You have 4 well-spoken arch-liberals and one air-headed conservative. Are you suggesting they should advertise themselves as the televised wing of the Democratic Party?
Its no wonder no one understood what kind of "change" Obama was promising in 2008. The media gave him soft questions. No one backed him into a corner and said "what do you mean by this?" If and when they did Obama simply sidestepped it and the issue was dropped. At least McCain gave concise answers in his campaign. Obama turned down McCain's offer to do 10 town hall meetings prior to the election because Obama knew he could never survive off-the-cuff-questions.
Wow, this video is so cherry-picked, it's pretty sickening.
I watched both full interviews and both candidates had hard questions asked of them (McCain had a few more, but he'd done some pretty stupid things leading up to the interview). But this video didn't show ANY of the hard questions that were asked of Obama and didn't show ANY of the softball questions asked of McCain.
Don't let biased video clips like this influence you. Research and make your own decisions based on the FACTS.
how blind are you. Those ladies took obama under their wings and they handed mccain his hat. Rudely I must say I dont know what video you where watching but you are definetly brain washed if you think you are right!
I think the election results speak for themselves, insofar as the fairness and pride in America. If people are going to compare the questions McCain received vs. the questions Obama received, it's pretty simple to explain why the questions were harder on McCain; he said and did a lot more idiotic things in the campaign and therefore had more to answer for.
@irocklove14 Oh, is exposing lies liberal now? Thank You. and, as defined by the dictionary: "... a : marked by generosity : openhanded <a liberal giver : broad-minded; especially : b: not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms. Conservative: tending or disposed to maintain existing views, conditions, or institutions (in other words, afraid of progress)
@nsgeoge the intent of this video is to push the narrative that the media is slanted to the left. i saw both shows.
That is not the reality though.
Obama had fairly difficult questions as well. the interview of McCain happened right after he chose the vacuous Palin as his VP. So that is why the there are so many Palin related to questions.
Straight up proof of how obnoxious and bias this show is. And that bitch whose all over Obama's cock has the nerve to call out fox news when O'Reilly comes on the show. You can't argue with this video
No, you can't. You also can't argue with the election results-in which more people voted for Barry Hussein Osama than any other candidate in any other election in any other country in the history of the world. You people should run Cheney or Jindal or Palin in 2012 so we can break 100 Million votes next time.
Walters is so obnoxious. She's a typical Jew, and I'm not just saying that because I'm Arab. All Jews just tend to be super liberal and in love with black people.
A dryed up hack, a black lesbian, and a nose in the air Jew, being biased? Surely you gest. Well they got their way, first black president, last nail in the coffin.
Wtf, whoever believes this is sooo damn stupid...Barack Obama was on 1x and John Mccain was on 2x...Obama was on when it was just the democratic running..Mccain was on when it was the republican running AND then he came on again as the republican Nominee..Obama DID NOT come on when he became the democratic nominee..Do Some damn research and see for yourself
so what if the media is bias....obviously their bias for a fucking reason...the republicans are full of shit and have been full of shit....its just all coming to light now
aside from u being wrong on a factual basis, ur comment doesnt even make sense. if u wrote in 6 years ago it would have but now we r seeing how much obama lied
Theyre not biased. This is a show called "THE VIEW" these women bring their "VIEW" to the table. Their PERSPECTIVES are shown in their attitudes and interviews.
If all of them were like Elizabeth they'd be more supportive of McCain. But if you see the entire campaign coverage, you'd see that they were respectful and supportive of both candidates. Don't cherry pick information.
Retile this: How information can be easily misconstrued through editing.
This is testimony to the bias that is in visual media! Obama is bringing this nation down. To darkangl142 - You ignorant slut! You're the epitamy of those that tell future generations to screw around with their legs spread 180 degrees wide with no concequence --- to yourself, to others and to those of future generations. You're a spoiled 13 yr old protesting 'what's not fair' and unconsciously having your cake and eating it too! Grow up! I assume you are an adult, at least age wise!
y do people care what the girls on the view say. they have no political background. Also the view is on abc so of course their gonna bash mccain. they're on a liberal news network
I dunno, that hasselbeck is rather nutzo, i remember her standing next to Palin right? but your right, you would think one is gonna get up with an egg underneath lol
if the current trends continue the republican party will have 10% support by 2030. Your a dying breed and you idiotic conservatives can kiss any power good bye
Is Whoopi stupid? It was the Republicans that opposed slavery, and the Democrats that supported the KKK. Ever heard of Martin Luther King? Sheesh, even I know this and I'm Canadian.
Between the time that Obama and McCain appeared on The View, there were substantial things that happened such as McCain's false ads that were hot topics for the ladies. Many for McCain including Fox News, continually spewed hate towards Obama and did and said anything to deter voters from voting for him. Kudos to the ladies of The View for not letting John McCain get a free pass with the wave of continual lies his camp put out until the bitter end. The truth will ALWAYS win out.
Then the truth that BO is a lying, child murdering, tax inflating, muslim bowing liar. The ONLY reason these women feel so comfortable is because they believe they are also elite - like BO.
The disparity between the way these bags treated each candidate was wrong - excuse however you try. Their hostility toward McCain is obvious; but fawn over BO.
Pitiful; and these women do not represent me. Whoopi and Joy are lunatics, as is Bobwa Walters.
The View doesn't claim to be fair and balanced like FOX News, who has NEVER presented the fair and balanced side of anything. Obama is not a liar, muslim nor any other cruel thing you have to say. The person he replaced, GWB, left the job in shambles and now he has to clean it up. I am amazed how far this country hasn't come. Racism is alive and well in the white community and the hatred being spewed by you and everyone else on YouTube concerning this.
Abortion - more zealously administered, with no restriction, both here and INTERNATIONALLY at tax payer expense
Over taxation - my taxes went up $8000 for 2008 with the new tax laws. Why?
So that's why so many people were protesting with the tea parties because BO didn't lie, and taxes haven't gone up? Mine have; as has everyone elses' I know. If you work, yours did, too.
Abortion kills children. If that sounds "cruel"; think how cruel IT is.
RACIST is such an easy word to throw around, and it has absolutely nothing to do with disliking BO and his murderous policies. Think infanticide is "cruel"? I'd gladly have voted for Alan Keyes or Thomas Sowell.
It's much easier to just scream the word "racist" than address issues, and you have no idea what anyone here thinks unless they say so. I wouldn't like BO if he were blue/green/orange/salmon.
how about ignorance. We are still at war, Our resources wasted with the amount of soldiers we have overseas. Taxes suck, sure, we're capitalists we want our money. But how can you expect tax cuts AND a successful occupation of other countries. Thats Bushism. And as for abortion, get the fuck over it, its not your vagina and uterus, let a woman choose whether or not to be drained for 9 months and raise for 18 years a child she may be incapable of caring for. Thats not murder its self preservation
Glad to see you're in favor of "self-preservation" - unless it is for an unborn baby. You're here because your mother was pro-life. How about some responsibilities for the "uterus and vagina" you speak about? Don't even start about the 1% of infanticides due to rape/incest. 99% left. Cut entitlements & INTERnational funding for abortion. YOU pay $20,000 taxes; THEN call somebody out about taxes. You're 19 & wet behind the ears. Learn better vocabulary & leave Mommy's computer alone
Yes self-preservation, as is a ball of cells attached to my uterus, that lacks even a single neuron, should not be the single deciding factor in whether I (and I mean 'I' as a general term for any female) become a mother. Do I think people should be promiscuous and just get abortions to avoid the trouble, no. But I don't think people should stand in the way if that is their choice. Pro-choice is not pro-death.
Leave that "ball of cells attached to your uterus" undisturbed and see what comes of "it". Having had that "ball of cells", I know for a fact that that baby becomes active many, many months before birth. Babies suck their thumb in the womb, they stretch, kick, feel pain....that's the most horrendous aspect of the clinical term - dehumanizing a child simply b/he or she has no voice, but they still feel the pain of any abortion procedure: Saline - can you imagine? D & C? Hemorragh
You know; a lot of people, besides babies, are dehumanized.
This whole abortion issue is NOT about letting people kill babies, it's about allowing the idea of CHOICE. Now, I'm not in favor of abortion at all, but I am in favor of allowing people to make their own decisions.
What about capitol punishment? Aren't they dehumanized?
What about capital punishment? How about infanticide? The "dehumanization" I referred to was calling infanticide by the more acceptable medical terminology. You can dehumanize someone without ripping their limbs off, simply by the way you treat them, but that does not take their life away as an abortion does. Do you honestly think a convicted criminal is innocent & defenseless like a pre-born child? What crime has any preborn child committed? Where is common sense?
no it is about killing babies AND the ultimate form of cheating on life as south park put it. u r killing a baby to get off easy.
yes they r dehumanized but they are dehumanized for horrible crimes they themselves committed and r being killed ot set an example for any ppl thinking about being cerial killers or rapists. aborted babies have done nothing wrong, and r simply being killed b/c their mom is stupid
if someone is thinking "wow that guy stole my wife i think ill kill him" but then sees on TV a guy that murdered his wife's lover was executed by lethal injection, he might not kill the guy for fear of the same fate. its been proven that capital punishment and less gun restriction reduce crime.
so wat ur saying is "yes abortion is killing a baby but i feel it is the right of the mother to choose." if this is correct then u r stupid. ur saying there shouldnt be laws b/c we have indiv. rights
Now youre over exaggerating everything I'm saying. Dude, everyone has rights. If thats how you put it, then thats how it is.
Everyone, sooner or later, has their comeuppance. Everyone. Seriously, what is it to you? Its easy for you to be typing behind a computer with your ideals, but its another story when the ideals manifest into something physical.
And no I did not say that, I said, I don't agree with it, but I do agree with giving women a choice.
exactly, u think abortion is killing a baby but the woman should have the right to choose. so basically u think there should be no laws b/c everyone has the right to choose. if a woman can choose to kill a baby then why cant i choose to kill my baby once its born (im a man). u r compromising evil. ppl are wimps that want to cheat a baby out of life for their mistakes. put the baby up for adoption or go to the million programs that help mothers who cant affford a baby.
Exactly, youre a man. Our bodies aren't capable of understanding the nature of childbearing. It's not that we don't understand it; it's that it's a different experience for men and women. Women are involved in this. To be frank, youre applying way to much of your assumptions to everything I say.
Choice within reason. That's the best I can do. Society needs law, and its citizens need to understand the choices people make...
...You can't go around assuming that women who undergo an abortion procedure are "right as rain" the next day. It's a complex experience. The question you should think about is: What would motivate a woman to do this? Are there any external forces at play (i.e. shame, family, poverty, health)?
Life is hard. Things aren't black and white. Nothing is absolute. I'm not comprimising anything, I'm just being realistic. You can't go around telling people what they can or can't do.
most women feel terrible the rest of their lives after an abortion. there heads r swirling before the abortion. the get it b/c of embarrassment, family poverty just like u said. this doesnt change anything i said. they r murdering a baby to not pay the consequence of their mistake. as south park put it, its the ultimate form of cheating in life.
keep fooling urself. keep giving the shit answer that its wrong but its the woman's choice. ur f***ing killing a baby
"they r murdering a baby to not pay the consequence of their mistake." Again, you don't know that.
Kid, I'm not fooling myself. I'm not naive about the situation. I'm not ignorant. Hell, I think I've showed you that I'm well versed with both sides. I'm just being realistic. What we should be discussing here is finding a balance between the two that would allow women to still have the choice as they face the gravity of their decision. Example, pre-in-depth abortion class.
i can understand. ur weak, u have mood swings, u cant do things u want to like smoke or drink. or cant do a lot of physical activity later in the pregnancy. its like a parasite just like all the pro choice ppl say, but guess wat? no matter how bad it is u dont have the right to kill a baby. women that get abortions for reasons other then health r murderers. its as simple as that and u know it
I seriously don't know how to make you understand this. It's very aggravating, but here it goes, again: I'm not advocating "the wrong choice," killing babies, etc, I'm advocating the right to individual choice.
This is a complex issue. This is a woman's issue. This is not black and white; to change things we can't go around dictating what people can or can't do. In order to help you must first understand.
As I said before, I'm just being realistic and not idealistic.
It has never been proven that capital punishment and less gun restriction reduce crime. Ever. By anyone. Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney couldn't site a source that proves that. Seriously. That's biggest ass-pull I've ever heard.
u couldnt be more wrong. if u want sources just search "gun conrol myths" and u will find a research paper that has hundreds of sources and covers every arguemnt about the issue in depth. if u want sources on capital punishment, ive never looked for those on google but there is a book i read called "freedomnomics" that has data showing areas w/ capital punishment have less crime
It's a ridiculous notion. I would like to see some facts that prove me wrong, but I know there aren't any. Any idiot can see that the less guns you have, the less gun crime you will have. And if someone is going to kill someone else, the last thing there going to think about is, "Oh, I might get the gas chamber." there going to think about how to cover it up so they won't get caught. Not to mention that capital punishment is far, far, far better than life in prison.
see, u dont look up ANY facts even after i tell u to. i know for a fact less gun laws and more capital punishment decreases crime b/c i looked up the facts. u didnt. thats called bling ideology
I'm Republican and the best thing we can do is not say anything. Grab a beer and watch everything collapse. Want an example you say? We wasted billions on GM and guess what they are still going bankrupt. We'll be taking back the White House, this guy is an idiot.
I think all of them apart from Elizabeth were 'for' Obama, so it must be difficult to remian neutral besides they are an entertainment ensemble show primarily.
Stupid ladies, we all know McCain was the worse candidate, but when they interviewed them they should have tried to be as neutral as possible. They shouldn't kiss up to one and make him look that good and then totally bash the other, not fair at all, and not professional.
it's amazing to me to see how unfairly mccain was treated on the view. i used to admire those women for voicing their opinions with conviction. after seeing them falling all over obama and praising him while all they had for mccain were critical and unfair questions, it clearly shows whose side they were on. shame on them. they're unfair to people they don't agree with. i disagree with salviiboii617. mccain is a very nice person just like obama. the media doesn't mccain's nice side often enough.
Yeah, I'm glad that stupid "Fairness Doctrine" may not work out. You wanna talk about biased and unfair, that key liberals are trying to pick at, go to that!
OH please those women (except for Liz) did everything but kneel down in front of him. They gave Michelle a free ride too, even after all of her American Hate crap. And they were classless in their treatment of Senator and Mrs. McCain. But still its only the VIEW and everyone knows between Babs, Joy, Sherry & Whoopie there is more ego than brains. What was truly dispicable was mainstream media. As of today most of the major news mags/ papers are "admitting" what they did. Now they feel bad? Noway
Okay....I'm super happy that Obama was elected, but it's undeniable that The View is biased. The difference between the two is astronomical. I'm perfectly alright with grilling a presidential candidate, but at least grill all equally. Present a balanced arguement in the media and trust people to make up their own minds. Keep one's own opinion out of it.
I disagree. I think that "bias" is a phony argument. I'm not saying that bias is a good thing, but the fact is that not all ideas are created equal. A percentage of the electorate voted in one person & didn't vote in the other. Does that mean we voters are "biased"?
During the run-up to the Iraq War, the networks were falling over each other to sell Bush's war & question the patriotism of dissenters. In fact there was almost no dissent on television at all, untill a few months into the war.
Bias cuts both ways. I prefer people in media giving their real points of view instead of using some bullshit speech code to strip out 'bias'. In day-to-day life, do we think in terms of left-vs-right about EVERY choice we make?
The idea of 'bias' simply signals people getting way too used to the arbitrary imposition of ideological frameworks on every thought.
Who's appointed the arbiter of bias? I don't trust anyone w/that authority. It would = censorship masquerading as more free speech.
People need develop their OWN opinions. The 1st premise of FREE THOUGHT is: it DOESN'T HURT YOU to hear points of view that are not the same as yours.
Some posters seem to think that the stuff you watch/listen to EQUALS WHAT YOU THINK. This= DANGEROUS. The only answer is educating people, & the 1st step is to stop them from thinking there are exactly 2 sides to every issue.
Getting rid of 'bias' means giving MORE CONTROL to media over HOW DISCOURSES ARE FRAMED: THAT's how propaganda works.
Obama, you know the messiah who was going to talk to our enemies instead of rushing to war? Well, the Messiah has made a decree that he will Kill Osama Bin Laden. There is some kind of starting point for talks don't you think?
More "Bring it on" Cowboy diplomacy! Maybe Hood Diplomacy, who knows.
Today Obama, (not even Pres yet) says MILLIONS could lose their jobs next year!!! WTG, Boy genius Barack! Why not just yell FIRE in a crowded theater?!
remember when W. was saying that "bring it on" stuff?
did you know that mccain would have appointed the same evil neocons as bush in charge of his foreign policy?
think comparitively. obama justifyiably was demonstrating to a wide spectrum of voters -- including moderates and some conservatives -- that he is not afraid to defend the country & to be a commander-in-chief.
now, if you think obama's foreign policy will be in any way similar to george w. bush, you have got to be kidding me.
I disagreed with "Bring it On!". I likewise feel Obama fumbled the "Diplomatic football". Obama is a smoooooooooth politician. He is going to use the popular buzz words and play on our emotions.
You stand against bad actions. You work towards apprehending wrong doers in an effort to maintain justice. You DON'T tell the fanatics that you intend to Kill their leader!
Obama will let Iraq and Iran slide and bomb the snot out of Afghanistan and Pakistan just to prove he is tough.
Of course its biased and so is the mainstream media. What's worse is that some people don't see how biased the news is and are too lazy to do their own research.
Obama has no legislative accomplishments, no military experience, no private sector experience....he just does good speeches..Same as Fidel Castro 49 years ago. He also said he was a capitalist and he also promoted change to the entire island. Today everyone is financially equal...everyone is poor.
The opinion is based on experience that so happens to be different from yours. You have no right to judge and should respect others opinions. Difference in opion among people does not mean something is wrong with them.
I'm not judging you as a human being: I'm evaluating the argument you present, & I find your reasoning to be specious.
Here's how your 1st argument breaks down:
Obama=> 1)no legislative accomplishments, 2)no military experience, 3) no private sector experience (assuming u mean wasn't a CEO), 4)"just" gives good speeches
Response:
ALL 4 TRAITS were EQUALLY true of our greatest president, #16.
I'm NOT saying Obama=as gr8 as Lincoln. I AM saying: these 4 arguments don't back up yr claim.
a bunch of ill-informed liberals who suck obama's dick.
whenever hasslebeck throws anything at the others that they can't handle they'll say, "we weren't talking about that" or whatever, they can't handle anything. they are ignorant stupid liberals. the "view" is a very liberal "view" that's the way it is
Oh wow...the View is biased. What a thought. LOL. Not surprised at all. O'Reilly was spot on. Joy is the most biased on the left of all, and she should be more joyful.
I like Obama and I like McCain but there was a great disrespect for McCain here and frankly if you don't see it you're overly partisan or you're just not paying attention.
I'm not defending specific things said by various hosts of The View (honestly, I don't really know the show that well), but what I am saying is that I'd rather have people on television expressing their honest points of view--even if they're idiots--than the model pursued by cable news, where everything, no matter how minute, is made into a partisan issue.
The world doesn't actually work that way & no real people actually think about everything along partisan lines. Better people than robots.
Media did something to influence voters for sure, but it pales in comparison to what the Bush/Cheney/Rove combo did to this country... and the media merely reflected the views of a very very frightened, frustrated public seeking a new beginning.
nor, on a lighter note, did SNL make up some of the funniest lines Tina Fey's depiction used in the Couric/Palin spoof... so quit the whining and except the fact that the last 8yrs of a poorly run (if not misleading) administration have gotten us into this mess, and McCain would have to be Gandhi to disassociate himself from the Rep's in order to have won.
I for one am happy that the media was swayed more towards Obama (since I voted for him), but that's only because it worked in my favor this time... but Media also reflects back what the country demands to hear or is most concerned about. The media did not create the revelation that there was no evidence of WMDs in Iraq nor the subprime + economic meltdown in this country...
Ya know i kinda disagree with the whole deal that the media was strongly biased toward Obama. The man is young and exciting, thats hard to deny, its not being biased. The man had so much shit thrown in his face "elitist","socialist", "communist", "arab", "arab terrorist", "terrorist fist pound", the flag lapel pin bullshit. Come on, those are pretty steep accusations. I think thhe country was just very tired of the direction we're going and the media presented that.
1st - i din't claim the media was STRONGLY biased towards Obama, I said 'swayed' - which you can disagree with. A similar consensus was brought up during Bill Clinton's initial run. 2nd - i know i posted 4x to make a point, but ultimately u r saying the same thing i said in my last comment - keep reading and you'll find i said, "...it pales in comparison to what the Bush/Cheney/Rove combo did + the media reflected the views of a very frightened, frustrated public seeking a new beginning.
No i know i read all 4, i was just more so making a statement against the nonsense I've heard people spew from their mouths about the news' super liberal bias. I agree with what you said for the most part i just sorta disagree that there was even a sway in the media.
The pendulum of bias has swung back and forth between Dems and Reps for a while now. Are folks influenced by this show? Sure, a certain demographic is. A certain demographic is also influenced by CNN (Dem-friendly for this campaign), FOX (Rep), MSNBC (Dem, but a little less than CNN), etc. If the general public weren't so constrained on time (or even lazy) about getting sound info, they would go to free channels like PBS or outside U.S. media like BBC, or heaven forbid, listen to NPR.
Is "The View" biased? Yup. 3/4 is probably Dems, 1 Rep, and BW is probably the most impartial, tho subtly favored President-Elect Obama for the past 1yr. Is "The View" a trusted source of impartial journalism? No. The goal of The View is to showcase women with a range of perspectives. The show opens each day with "Hot Topics," in which the co-hosts provide their commentary on the day's top headlines in politics + entertainment." This is the video equivalent of a Newspaper's Editorial sect.
1) Review the coverage of the run-up to the Iraq War. ALL big media refused to question obvious lies; IN THE TANK for neocons/Bush.
2) The Right venerates capitalism as the solution to every societal ill. Guess what: networks do NOTHING if it doesn't SELL. You call it bias? Their CEOs call it RATINGS.
3) I thought the Right was 'tough'! Do you have any idea what a fucking weak spoiled-brat you sound when you cry "bias"?
4) EDUCATE yourself. Sarah Palin is WRONG: IDEAS ARE NOT THE ENEMY.
You see? Allow me to illustrate my point: "bias" is not an adjective. You might FEEL like it's an adjective, but that doesn't make it one. Seriously. The GOP is a shell of its former self! Get some IDEAS!
Why is the Right so scared of learning how to articulate itself so that it doesn't sound like a party of whiny, fat, inbred Rush Limbaughs. It's the only way you'll save American conservatism. The USA was FOUNDED ON IDEAS by LITERATE MEN, not by a bunch of fucking retarded racist assholes.
It depends on what you mean by socialism. If you mean it in the same way that McCain & Palin used the term during the final month of the campaign, then yes, in fact: it was.
a system of society or group living in which there is no private property ,a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state. A promise from Obama
Actions speak louder then words young one. Saying the Dems are anymore articulate then Republicans is a joke.. just like your education. The fact you think the entire Republican party is trailer trash white people just shows how irrelevant your bitter disgruntled opinion is. lol but thanks for making yourself look stupid.. saves me the trouble. Sensationalist Drama Queens taken youtube by storm these days!
Both Sides Are Bias as hell! It is a real shame. I wish we could get a decent program that is non bias for real...and not like fox or cnn!

And I suppose Fox is fair and balanced with Obama?

I've watched both MSNBC and and fox news and i have found out that i know more facts about the news on fox news then anybody else... so you can go back to watching MSNBC where they only show select things to make liberals look better
chevcamaro23 1 year ago
@chevcamaro23 You are doing precisely what Fox "news" does, make assumptions, thus making asses out of yourselves. Fox does not report news they comment on fact. How is it that you can write a paragraph worth of garbage based on my two-lined comment? By making assumptions, you make commentary on issues you don't even know are true. Firstly, I don't watch MSNBC, they are too left leaning, I am a centrist. Secondly, you missed the main subject of my commentary- that is the presents of Hasselbeck.

And Whoopies slave comment. Come on.

timjones066 1 year ago
@timjones066 No, she didn't really say that. McCain said he wanted the constitution interpreted the same way the founding fathers did. They wrote that "...all men are created equal" while owning slaves. How is that hard to understand? The point is that we need to keep changing the constitution because it wasn't meant to be perfect. It was meant to be changed as our society changed. So, calling them dumbass liberal housewives you made a comment like Emily Litella would..

The truth will ALWAYS win out.
aquaman22 2 years ago
Then the truth that BO is a lying, child murdering, tax inflating, muslim bowing liar. The ONLY reason these women feel so comfortable is because they believe they are also elite - like BO.
The disparity between the way these bags treated each candidate was wrong - excuse however you try. Their hostility toward McCain is obvious; but fawn over BO.

So now it's "RACIST" to despise
Abortion - more zealously administered, with no restriction, both here and INTERNATIONALLY at tax payer expense
Over taxation - my taxes went up $8000 for 2008 with the new tax laws. Why?
So that's why so many people were protesting with the tea parties because BO didn't lie, and taxes haven't gone up? Mine have; as has everyone elses' I know. If you work, yours did, too.
Abortion kills children. If that sounds "cruel"; think how cruel IT is.
arslp 2 years ago 7
RACIST is such an easy word to throw around, and it has absolutely nothing to do with disliking BO and his murderous policies. Think infanticide is "cruel"? I'd gladly have voted for Alan Keyes or Thomas Sowell.
It's much easier to just scream the word "racist" than address issues, and you have no idea what anyone here thinks unless they say so. I wouldn't like BO if he were blue/green/orange/salmon.

how about ignorance. We are still at war, Our resources wasted with the amount of soldiers we have overseas. Taxes suck, sure, we're capitalists we want our money. darkangl142
Learn better vocabulary & leave Mommy's computer alone
arslp 2 years ago
Yes self-preservation, as is a ball of cells attached to my uterus, that lacks even a single neuron, should not be the single deciding factor in whether I (and I mean 'I' as a general term for any female) become a mother. Do I think people should be promiscuous and just get abortions to avoid the trouble, no. But I don't think people should stand in the way if that is their choice. Pro-choice is not pro-death.
darkangl142 2 years ago
darkangl142:
Leave that "ball of cells attached to your uterus" undisturbed and see what comes of "it". Having had that "ball of cells", I know for a fact that that baby becomes active many, many months before birth. Babies suck their thumb in the womb, they stretch, kick, feel pain....that's the most horrendous aspect of the clinical term - dehumanizing a child simply b/he or she has no voice, but they still feel the pain of any abortion procedure: Saline - can you imagine? D & C? Hemorragh
arslp 2 years ago
You know; a lot of people, besides babies, are dehumanized.
This whole abortion issue is NOT about letting people kill babies, it's about allowing the idea of CHOICE. Now, I'm not in favor of abortion at all, but I am in favor of allowing people to make their own decisions.
What about capitol punishment? Aren't they dehumanized?
slayerette86m 2 years ago
slayerette
What about capital punishment? How about infanticide? The "dehumanization" I referred to was calling infanticide by the more acceptable medical terminology. You can dehumanize someone without ripping their limbs off, simply by the way you treat them, but that does not take their life away as an abortion does. Do you honestly think a convicted criminal is innocent & defenseless like a pre-born child? What crime has any preborn child committed? Where is common sense?
arslp 2 years ago
No, I don't think that.
My common sense revolves around giving everyone a chance and not ostracizing them from society.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
no it is about killing babies AND the ultimate form of cheating on life as south park put it. u r killing a baby to get off easy.
yes they r dehumanized but they are dehumanized for horrible crimes they themselves committed and r being killed ot set an example for any ppl thinking about being cerial killers or rapists. aborted babies have done nothing wrong, and r simply being killed b/c their mom is stupid
renomahe34 2 years ago
They're setting an example? Come on. People are not one dimensional. People make mistakes.
And, I don't believe in abortion. I don't. However, what I do believe in is the right of the individual, and individuals have choices.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
if someone is thinking "wow that guy stole my wife i think ill kill him" but then sees on TV a guy that murdered his wife's lover was executed by lethal injection, he might not kill the guy for fear of the same fate. its been proven that capital punishment and less gun restriction reduce crime.
so wat ur saying is "yes abortion is killing a baby but i feel it is the right of the mother to choose." if this is correct then u r stupid. ur saying there shouldnt be laws b/c we have indiv. rights
renomahe34 2 years ago
Now youre over exaggerating everything I'm saying. Dude, everyone has rights. If thats how you put it, then thats how it is.
Everyone, sooner or later, has their comeuppance. Everyone. Seriously, what is it to you? Its easy for you to be typing behind a computer with your ideals, but its another story when the ideals manifest into something physical.
And no I did not say that, I said, I don't agree with it, but I do agree with giving women a choice.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
exactly, u think abortion is killing a baby but the woman should have the right to choose. so basically u think there should be no laws b/c everyone has the right to choose. if a woman can choose to kill a baby then why cant i choose to kill my baby once its born (im a man). u r compromising evil. ppl are wimps that want to cheat a baby out of life for their mistakes. put the baby up for adoption or go to the million programs that help mothers who cant affford a baby.
renomahe34 2 years ago
Exactly, youre a man. Our bodies aren't capable of understanding the nature of childbearing. It's not that we don't understand it; it's that it's a different experience for men and women. Women are involved in this. To be frank, youre applying way to much of your assumptions to everything I say.
Choice within reason. That's the best I can do. Society needs law, and its citizens need to understand the choices people make...
slayerette86m 2 years ago
...You can't go around assuming that women who undergo an abortion procedure are "right as rain" the next day.
You can't go around telling people what they can or can't do.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
most women feel terrible the rest of their lives after an abortion. there heads r swirling before the abortion. the get it b/c of embarrassment, family poverty just like u said. this doesnt change anything i said. they r murdering a baby to not pay the consequence of their mistake. as south park put it, its the ultimate form of cheating in life.
keep fooling urself. keep giving the shit answer that its wrong but its the woman's choice. ur f***ing killing a baby
renomahe34 2 years ago
"they r murdering a baby to not pay the consequence of their mistake." Again, you don't know that.
Kid, I'm not fooling myself. I'm not naive about the situation. I'm not ignorant. Hell, I think I've showed you that I'm well versed with both sides. I'm just being realistic. What we should be discussing here is finding a balance between the two that would allow women to still have the choice as they face the gravity of their decision. Example, pre-in-depth abortion class.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
i can understand. ur weak, u have mood swings, u cant do things u want to like smoke or drink. or cant do a lot of physical activity later in the pregnancy. its like a parasite just like all the pro choice ppl say, but guess wat? no matter how bad it is u dont have the right to kill a baby. women that get abortions for reasons other then health r murderers. its as simple as that and u know it
renomahe34 2 years ago
I seriously don't know how to make you understand this. It's very aggravating, but here it goes, again: I'm not advocating "the wrong choice," killing babies, etc, I'm advocating the right to individual choice.
This is a complex issue. This is a woman's issue. This is not black and white; to change things we can't go around dictating what people can or can't do. In order to help you must first understand.
As I said before, I'm just being realistic and not idealistic.
slayerette86m 2 years ago
It has never been proven that capital punishment and less gun restriction reduce crime. Ever. By anyone. Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney couldn't site a source that proves that. Seriously. That's biggest ass-pull I've ever heard.
DemCatBo 2 years ago
u couldnt be more wrong. if u want sources just search "gun conrol myths" and u will find a research paper that has hundreds of sources and covers every arguemnt about the issue in depth. if u want sources on capital punishment, ive never looked for those on google but there is a book i read called "freedomnomics" that has data showing areas w/ capital punishment have less crime
renomahe34 2 years ago
It's a ridiculous notion. I would like to see some facts that prove me wrong, but I know there aren't any. Any idiot can see that the less guns you have, the less gun crime you will have. And if someone is going to kill someone else, the last thing there going to think about is, "Oh, I might get the gas chamber." there going to think about how to cover it up so they won't get caught. Not to mention that capital punishment is far, far, far better than life in prison.
DemCatBo 2 years ago

Okay....I'm super happy that Obama was elected, but it's undeniable that The View is biased. The difference between the two is astronomical. I'm perfectly alright with grilling a presidential candidate, but at least grill all equally. Present a balanced arguement in the media and trust people to make up their own minds. Keep one's own opinion out of it.
blargopolis 3 years ago 5
In fact there was almost no dissent on television at all, untill a few months into the war.
idealtypical 3 years ago
Bias cuts both ways. I prefer people in media giving their real points of view instead of using some bullshit speech code to strip out 'bias'. In day-to-day life, do we think in terms of left-vs-right about EVERY choice we make?
The idea of 'bias' simply signals people getting way too used to the arbitrary imposition of ideological frameworks on every thought.
Who's appointed the arbiter of bias? I don't trust anyone w/that authority. It would = censorship masquerading as more free speech.
idealtypical 3 years ago
People need develop their OWN opinions. The 1st premise of FREE THOUGHT is: it DOESN'T HURT YOU to hear points of view that are not the same as yours.
Some posters seem to think that the stuff you watch/listen to EQUALS WHAT YOU THINK. This= DANGEROUS. The only answer is educating people, & the 1st step is to stop them from thinking there are exactly 2 sides to every issue.
Getting rid of 'bias' means giving MORE CONTROL to media over HOW DISCOURSES ARE FRAMED: THAT's how propaganda works.

i hate this fucking show. for exactly this reason.

CarribeanBeachbum06 3 years ago
remember when W. was saying that "bring it on" stuff?
did you know that mccain would have appointed the same evil neocons as bush in charge of his foreign policy?
think comparitively. obama justifyiably was demonstrating to a wide spectrum of voters -- including moderates and some conservatives -- that he is not afraid to defend the country & to be a commander-in-chief.
now, if you think obama's foreign policy will be in any way similar to george w. bush, you have got to be kidding me.
idealtypical 3 years ago
I disagreed with "Bring it On!". I likewise feel Obama fumbled the "Diplomatic football". Obama is a smoooooooooth politician. He is going to use the popular buzz words and play on our emotions.
You stand against bad actions. You work towards apprehending wrong doers in an effort to maintain justice. You DON'T tell the fanatics that you intend to Kill their leader!
Obama will let Iraq and Iran slide and bomb the snot out of Afghanistan and Pakistan just to prove he is tough.
CarribeanBeachbum06 3 years ago 3
Dumbass, Obama was not the presidential nominee yet and McCain already was. Hence the hard questions even from Hasselbeck.
rakrobn 3 years ago
Of course its biased and so is the mainstream media. What's worse is that some people don't see how biased the news is and are too lazy to do their own research.
Obama has no legislative accomplishments, no military experience, no private sector experience....he just does good speeches..Same as Fidel Castro 49 years ago. He also said he was a capitalist and he also promoted change to the entire island. Today everyone is financially equal...everyone is poor.
joannylorie 3 years ago
The more the Right keeps up this ludicrous rhetoric, the more irrelevant the GOP becomes.
Nobody's going to take you seriously when you compare Barack Obama to Fidel Castro. What's the point of that kind of statement?
You're free to have that opinion, & I would risk my life to preserve our 1st Amendment rights.
But that doesn't mean you'll be taken seriously. Why not come up with actual arguments?
By your logic, Abraham Lincoln would be considered a communist. What's wrong with you?
idealtypical 3 years ago
1st of all I'm not part of "the right".
You were wrong to assume.
2nd of all I know I'm right to have an opinion.
The opinion is based on experience that so happens to be different from yours. You have no right to judge and should respect others opinions. Difference in opion among people does not mean something is wrong with them.
joannylorie 3 years ago
I'm not judging you as a human being: I'm evaluating the argument you present, & I find your reasoning to be specious.
Here's how your 1st argument breaks down:
Obama=> 1)no legislative accomplishments, 2)no military experience, 3) no private sector experience (assuming u mean wasn't a CEO), 4)"just" gives good speeches
Response:
ALL 4 TRAITS were EQUALLY true of our greatest president, #16.
I'm NOT saying Obama=as gr8 as Lincoln. I AM saying: these 4 arguments don't back up yr claim.
idealtypical 3 years ago
2ndly, your Castro comparison is even more incoherent:
1)Castro "said he was a capitalist"
2)Castro promoted change
3)Obama is--I'm sorry, SAYS he is--a capitalist (no explanation of why you doubt it)
4)Obama promotes change
Therefore, you claim: Obama is--quoting you directly--the "same as Fidel Castro 49 years ago."
Now, that simply doesn't make sense. & frankly, it's a paranoid & hysterical fantasy.
I'm not attacking you personally; I'm pointing out that your claim is absurd.

I Can't stand Mccain but it's obvious what's happening in the media it's head over heels for Obama.
Kujien 3 years ago
I like Obama and I like McCain but there was a great disrespect for McCain here and frankly if you don't see it you're overly partisan or you're just not paying attention.
cindermaker 3 years ago
With respect, this is one of the reasons I would argue that the bias argument is a waste of time. Here's why: not all ideas are equally valid.
McCain=an honorable man whom I respect immensely, but thru no fault of his own, the GOP was screwing up & he was caught between a rock & a hard place.
The GOP is dry on ideas @ the moment. It couldn't argue for freer markets, because it just signed a $700B bailout.
Why should people always act like 'both sides are equal'? Someotimes they're not.
idealtypical 3 years ago
I'm not defending specific things said by various hosts of The View (honestly, I don't really know the show that well), but what I am saying is that I'd rather have people on television expressing their honest points of view--even if they're idiots--than the model pursued by cable news, where everything, no matter how minute, is made into a partisan issue.
The world doesn't actually work that way & no real people actually think about everything along partisan lines. Better people than robots.
idealtypical 3 years ago
Media did something to influence voters for sure, but it pales in comparison to what the Bush/Cheney/Rove combo did to this country... and the media merely reflected the views of a very very frightened, frustrated public seeking a new beginning.
p11201 3 years ago 2
nor, on a lighter note, did SNL make up some of the funniest lines Tina Fey's depiction used in the Couric/Palin spoof... so quit the whining and except the fact that the last 8yrs of a poorly run (if not misleading) administration have gotten us into this mess, and McCain would have to be Gandhi to disassociate himself from the Rep's in order to have won.
p11201 3 years ago
I for one am happy that the media was swayed more towards Obama (since I voted for him), but that's only because it worked in my favor this time... but Media also reflects back what the country demands to hear or is most concerned about. The media did not create the revelation that there was no evidence of WMDs in Iraq nor the subprime + economic meltdown in this country...
p11201 3 years ago
Ya know i kinda disagree with the whole deal that the media was strongly biased toward Obama. The man is young and exciting, thats hard to deny, its not being biased. The man had so much shit thrown in his face "elitist","socialist", "communist", "arab", "arab terrorist", "terrorist fist pound", the flag lapel pin bullshit. Come on, those are pretty steep accusations. I think thhe country was just very tired of the direction we're going and the media presented that.
I do agree about PBS and BBC
zzyzx0788 3 years ago
1st - i din't claim the media was STRONGLY biased towards Obama, I said 'swayed' - which you can disagree with. A similar consensus was brought up during Bill Clinton's initial run. 2nd - i know i posted 4x to make a point, but ultimately u r saying the same thing i said in my last comment - keep reading and you'll find i said, "...it pales in comparison to what the Bush/Cheney/Rove combo did + the media reflected the views of a very frightened, frustrated public seeking a new beginning.
p11201 3 years ago
No i know i read all 4, i was just more so making a statement against the nonsense I've heard people spew from their mouths about the news' super liberal bias. I agree with what you said for the most part i just sorta disagree that there was even a sway in the media.
zzyzx0788 3 years ago
The pendulum of bias has swung back and forth between Dems and Reps for a while now. Are folks influenced by this show? Sure, a certain demographic is. A certain demographic is also influenced by CNN (Dem-friendly for this campaign), FOX (Rep), MSNBC (Dem, but a little less than CNN), etc. If the general public weren't so constrained on time (or even lazy) about getting sound info, they would go to free channels like PBS or outside U.S. media like BBC, or heaven forbid, listen to NPR.
p11201 3 years ago

Sarah Palin is WRONG: IDEAS ARE NOT THE ENEMY.
idealtypical 3 years ago
Very bias...
micbenn 3 years ago
The USA was FOUNDED ON IDEAS by LITERATE MEN, not by a bunch of fucking retarded racist assholes.
idealtypical 3 years ago
And as you forget, it was not founded on socialism as well!
calvicide 3 years ago
It depends on what you mean by socialism. If you mean it in the same way that McCain & Palin used the term during the final month of the campaign, then yes, in fact: it was.
