But the rodeos aren't to dam bad. I got a 93 and I've never got it stuck yet. Had it in a swamp up to the frame and it trucked right on through. There about as close to a Jeep as you can get with out dropping over 30 to 40 thousand dollars. Honda model is alright but I'd take a rodeo over the passport

Hahaha I have a rodeo too ha ha. It seems if you have a rodeo or as I call them "a cheap Jeep" "A Mexicans jeep" and or the poor man's Jeep. But it seems if you have a rodeo you want to get a Jeep grand Cherokee. Now I work at a auto auction and I've drove more cars then probably most people at my age so I don't need to hear about how I don't know what I'm talking about. Jeeps are very nice, depending on the year personally 2011 and 2012 are the best when it comes to off roading and snow mud etc

The hook isn't the weak link, the frame its bolted to is. I've bent both my hooks out on my 99 wj.

Dude, WTF are you on about? One of the Greatest Jeeps (right up there with the Wranglers) was the XJ Cherokee, and it was a unibody. I'd do a little research before typing up stuff you know nothing about.

I off road a lot and I am part of the local 4x4 club so I know plenty. A friend of mine in the club has a pretty modified XJ and when he opens the door while it is flexed he can't shut it again because the body bends just a little. There is a reason they are called Cherocars. A buddy of mine got rear ended in his Rodeo by someone going 65 and he was stopped. I wouldn't even want to see what would happen to an XJ if that happened.

i love jeeps and this jeep is beautiful but its kinda pathetic the bumper is about to bottom out on a flat trail and its suppose to be a legendary 4x4. i drive a bulky fullsize truck and my bumper never comes close to the ground pulling people out.

The hardened-steel is used so they can use less overall steel. All modern SUV's with tow hooks use high-strenght hardened steel now to save weight. But frankly thicker less-hard steel is superior in several aspects.

@DodgeMan360 I am a big diesel fan. Mostly because i don´t have to worry about ignition components when i´m in deep snow/water/mud. And the high tourqe at low rpm´s is another benefit. It is nice to have 384 nm avaible at almost idle. Here in Sweden the diesels have about a 3rd of the SUV market.

If your off road vehical did not come with hardened steel tow hooks, do not worry, someone in a American designed, stamped, forged, raised air intake, triple seal doors, 5 solid steel skid plates, quadra track ride, and wheels at the front and back Jeep Grand Cherokee will be along sooner or later. (Hummer trying to pull a Land rover out gets pulled out by Jeep.)

@amfan12 Uh yes. I owned an 85, 89, 92, 96, 97 XJ. Reliable enough rides (for a Jeep)but had to lifted to fit a 31" tire which is pathetic. Unibody is cheap and does not hold up to hard wheeling. Im driving Y2K 3rd Gen 4Runner with 105K miles that is like a brand new truck. Comes with 32s stock, recovery points stock and a body on frame truck. The XJ, while superior to my ZJs/WJs/WKs, is a toy compared to a 4Runner. Once you get off the Jeep Kool Aid you start to realize there is better
