It's so funny that when I head Steve stole Dane' essence, it made total sense. I'd heard SB on comedy central and laughed, but looking back, he totally did steal Dane's essence. Now, Dane's not a great comic by any stretch, but he is an entertainer and that's how I see him, rather than as a comic. That being said, SB isn't a great comic either. He's got funny bits but just like DK, his act is very physical in a DK sort of way. It's unmistakable.
