Second, kudos to you for leveling up guarding! I hate it when people blow off that skill.

I'm COR75/NIN37 and I'm definitely not moving to 76 until I cap all skills (including Parrying). Even with the money I save making shihei as opposed to buying them, I'm still going through stacks at a time to level this skill up (no I won't go /DNC. I quite frankly dislike /DNC but that's just me)

I want to know what your Chakra macro setup is. Do you have the relic armor that enhances it as well? I'm Lv.65 and with just the cyclas, I only recover about 180 hp.

if you wish to cap your weapon go to castle Z in the past and attack the "Kind-of" towers there. they should be guarded but theyre not. maxed out mnk hand-to-hand easily in 1 day

yeap this is pretty much exactly what i did for Parry on my thf. then i bumped it up to the steelshells on the top level. spent like 24 hours up there with as much -phys dmg and +parry as i could equip.

i think i capped parry on thf. it's been months since i was on though. i quit playing.

You can do the same to skill shield on paladin if your hurting there. Korrigans become low/slow after 250 or so, the highest accessible mandy is Pucks in the den of rancor entrance near where woodland sage spawns. I think i got about 11 lvls of shield in 2 hours with 2 mandy + PL. They hit hard as hell tho. Anyways well done, and that was probably an arhats body not arakan saume or w/e for the -phys dmg

lol no reason to transfer server just to ballista xD, but thanks. I think i did the B tree around that level, but the lower level mandies and crabs. The best thing you can do though is to find out what lv mnk 147 guard caps for and fight mobs EM-VT to that lv mnk to get the best skills.

ok i'm at 182 guarding myself and want to cap it + merits (career MNK). I have some questions towards your gear choice though:

1) why don't you use Melee gaiters?

2) Why do you bounce between af+1 and ark. body?

3) why use a harvest earring?

My gear: Black adagars, Bibiki seashell, tiger mast, guard torque, guard earring, burtal earring, k.osode, melee gloves, Jelly ring, Rajas ring, Boxers mante, BB, Temple hose melee gaiters.

Is it best to stack guard+ or other???

I'm about 250 on my monk. Took me a bit, but i got it. Basically using your technique, but going to higher lvl guys. Mandragora are the best to lvl up guard. Mourioche are best up to 241. Then you wanna go to Korrigans. YOU WILL NEED HELP!! Possibly a rdm or whm + NPC. You can also have /dnc. Your skill will cap at the cap of the monster's lvl. Korrigan are about 72 - 75 The formula after 61+ is weird. So I'm trying to figure it out.

241 on mourioche??? O.o after 180, when i tried skilling up on those, it was like my skill hit a brick wall. i haven't gotten a single skillup on them after 180 (base skill)

I know it's possible by everyjob, but its the part of lvling it up. I takes forever to lvl up. I understand that Guard you fully need to be hit. Parrying is by a high value chance. Due to Guard it reduces an amount of dmg and its more frequent. Parrying is super cheap if its frequently and it has to be a high probability to get it, because.. you get dont get hit, no dmg none. As for a PLD due to Shield they reduce more dmg and they dont get much Parrying in, because parrying is with the weapon.

You take guard to 269 then tell me how much more often that Parry it procs.. You have the idea totally wrong. When they buffed shield, they did not buff guard along with it. its proc rate is just as lo as parry, if not lower, just due to the fact that you won't guard if you evade, shadow, or counter first.. I see Parry procs on my sam with 157 as often as I see guard procs with 269 on mnk..Idk where u got the idea that guard procs more than parry. I will give shield procs more, but yea not guard

By the way, I know more people with capped parry than guard and there are more mnks with fully unlocked spharai than capped guard.

Lol Come on guys Guard is easy! Try lvling parrying. the most retarded and hardest thing to lvl up! And SAM has A- in it =_= (A- meaning it caps at 269 rather than 276(A+))

Care to explain how Parry is more difficult than guard? You are able to skill parry on nearly every job in the game. I have 4 lv 75 jobs, have never skilled parry (none of which tank jobs btw) and my parry is 157. Guard can only be skilled by mnk an pup. You can parry with utsusemi up, which means you don't have to be hit when skilling. For guard, you have to be hit to guard.

In the almost 6 min of fight you didn't get any skill up, anyway, its an example of how skill up. I'm not sure if AGI can help leveling guard too.
