@KidCaliente So I got everything set for FS, but I'm doing the special 4 month online schedule then moving out in Janurary. I'm doing Game Art, but I want to do a complete video series like you did. Itd be great if you could talk to me 1x1 about anything or just exchange contacts?
@MozagProductions Its definitely a challenge. It took me a few months before I got a job at a TV station. Finding jobs in any industry is tough right now. But with enough willpower you can make it happen.
This is last question xD Promise. I'm enrolled in Full Sail finally, but I don't leave for like another month. Do I have to get a Florida driver's license? Or can I keep my AL one because I'm just going to another state for education purposes?
@EnvyingSerpent Ask all the questions you like! This is a good question. I kept my GA License, but I ended up getting a FL Plate. I was told to get a FL license, but I never got around to do it. After moving back to GA I had to get a GA Plate, and it ended up causing me to pay extra, due to the state of GA thinking I had not purchased my yearly tags. In retrospect, I would have come out better just switching everything to FL. Hope that helped. If you have another question, shoot!
Student loans will have me in debt for the rest of my life, just going to this school I'll have to work 3 jobs for 5 years @ an income of $10 an hour. Anyway I know your focus is film, and congrats on graduation, but do you have any insight into their online classes. I know they could never out do the real hands-on teaching, but is it any good in your opinion. Thanks for showing that side of your experience it has helped a lot.
@rhythmrainbow I only had 2 online classes, so I really cant give a good opinion about it. Those classes I took were about Media/Society and Art History, they well put together overall it was great. But I have no clue about the rest. Hoped that helped.
hey im starting the film classes this september. is there like any perosonal tips you can give me? and also do u know if the film program will give you a day off or anything like that
I would appreciate if you cuold help ease my mind some or let us know if this sounds true or not? Also I am looking forward to hearing what you have been up to since graduation because I heard this too was a big problem for students. Thanks and congrats!
@DeaVAmp Thanks 4 watching! Cheesy as it sounds, its only worth it if make it worth it. Its just a school, I took Film, its been great, totally worth it. Pricey, yes. But worth it to me. Everyone has their own opinion. Not sure why people call it scam, its just a school. They never promised me anything but an education, and thats what I got, lol. The school has literally thousands of potential students, & current students. Sometimes staying touch is due to who was waiting longest (cont)
@DeaVAmp (cont) so staying in touch is a bit laggy at times. In my dealings with the school, they always contacted me back.. It can be nerve racking, but they always came through for me. Now, as far as work comes after graduation. It can be tough. Jobs in general are tough to find, my career development advisor contacts me about new jobs all the time. Since I work at a TV station I'm covered. They do help find some, but its up to you to get it. (cont)
@DeaVAmp (cont) I hate to admit, a huge amount of people I know who went to Full Sail think the school is supposed to secure a job for them after graduation. Not sure why that is so prevalent among us. Then bitterness sets in when the loans are due. It be extremely stressful. But with enough willpower and determination, a job is bound to pop up somewhere. I will have a video up soon showing where I work, and what Im up to now. Stay tuned!!!!
@KidCaliente I KNOW! My mom keeps making me feel iffy on whether to go to FS or not..I already sent in my app...She is like their are so many negative comments..I look and most are by how the school blows people off or how they can't find work/employers laugh at their FS degree. I tell her if they blow you off that's when YOU make YOURSELF a priority to them, stay with it and don't give up. And for the people that can't find work is prolly like you said, they have to work for it.
@KidCaliente And if employers do laugh at the school I always think who cares? If my portfolio is amazing that shouldn't matter. Anyways lol I look forward to your next vid and thanks for responding!
(cont) put in to it? I have heard FS makes you a priority while you're in school, but not after? And manyyyyyyyy people claim it is a scam..In fact if you Youtube Full Sail scam there is a small animated video that shows this in sarcasm. This little animated vid already explains some of my experience and I am not even enrolled. Everytime I try to contact the school they just blow me off and claim they will contact me soon, but do not until I eventually do. I just don't want to be screwed over :(
Hey KidCaliente.. I have been watching your videos since around my HS days trying to decide whether or not I wanted to go to FS or not. At first I was going to go on campus, but later I decided to possibly take online courses in order to save money and stay close to my family. I have not started yet. I was going to take Game Art. I have one big question and when I say big I mean HUGE! and this has yet to be answered 100%. Is Full Sail worth it in the long run? Worth all the time and money(cont)
Sweet, a new video! Glad to see things are going well :-). I have a question for you: have you taken any of Full Sail's online courses while attending school? If not, do you happen to know anybody who has? I'm [unfortunately] enrolled at DeVry and my coursework is all done online, so I was considering changing my major to Web Design/Development and study at Full Sail instead. Thoughts?
@cProg1x Thanks! I only took had 2 online classes at Full Sail. History and Media Communications (I think), might be in one of my vids, can't remember. I do know a guy who was taking the online program, but he closed his YouTube account for some reason. I know a guy at work who just started. Anything you need me to ask him? I don't know much about the Web Design/Dev stuff. I saw some of the guys/girls work in FL, looked super solid. But other than that, I do not know much about it.
@KidCaliente Basically, I'm just a bit curious as to how the coursework is assigned. Right now I get a textbook and have almost 0 interaction with my professor other than the discussion threads. I'm interested to see how they give you assignments, and how the overall design of the website looks like. At DeVry, our eLearning website looks like it was made in the 90's and lacks serious amounts of updates. My classes aren't even compatible with Chrome yet!
@cProg1x Hmmm, gotcha. When I took the class it was in 2009. I will see if I can catch my buddy at work and ask about it. I rarely see him. But I will keep you posted. ;)
@cProg1x Hey I myself have been looking into taking FS online but for Game Art. Just wanted to let you know that if you are interested in the way the online site is structured and set up, you can go to Full Sail's web site and their online program and there will be an option to "Test Drive" This is basically a beta site that lets you browse a premade online program :)
@foolsale LOL.
