I just bought a beautiful golden persian a month ago from a breeder (With papers) for $400.. There is no such thing as a teacup persian either. If teacup = runt of the litter, then how do you explain ALL of the litter being tiny? Are they ALL runts? Customers can determine for themselves which kittens they want to buy and for what price. There ARE varying sizes of Persians and Himalayans. When somone says they have a toy or teacup Persian, that is simply to let customers know what size that kitten will be when full grown. And most people DO want smaller cats so they WILL pay more for that kitten if they know if will be smaller.
well silvers and goldens are notoriously smaller than other types..That is true but marketing them as teacups is wrong. Check some of the breeders on the net they have warnings posted that there is no such thing and its a scam to inflate the prices..This is what I have seen on numerous sites and I asked my vet who also confirmed. An unusually small one = runt.
Again with the runt theory. Did you know their is a "runt" in every litter? There is always one kitten who is smaller than the others. But you are avoiding the question. If EVERY kitten in the litter matures at around 4 pounds, then they can not ALL be runts. Can you not understand this? That is why I call some of my kittens teacups because they are nowhere close to the standard persian size of up to 16 pounds.
I would also like to say to all those breeders who feel it is their "duty" to warn people their is no such thing as toys and teacups - COME ON! Are you serious? I'm sorry you can't get the higher prices for your kittens but do you have to insult your customers intelligence by insinuating they are being taken by some lying breeder? Each individual can and will determine for themselves what they are looking for in a kitten, and if they want to purchase it. They don't need your wisdom and insight.
Also, if you got a persian for $400 then good for you! I am allowed to determine for myself what prices my kittens are sold for. The prices of my kittens are actually determined as much by my customers as by me. I am having no trouble getting these prices because there are a lot of people looking for Doll Faced Persians. Believe it or not, some people are more interested in the health of their kitten than whether or not their are any "champions" in the bloodline.
You can sell them for whatever you like Im just saying its very expensive for a kitten..My kitten has been to the vet 2 times for check ups in a month and he is very healthy..(oh and did I mention he is a doll face?)
I am glad your kitten is healthy. And yes, most silvers and goldens are smaller and also doll faced because most lines have not been bred to have the flatter faces like the other colors. That still does not make me WRONG for labeling them as teacup or toy. As I already stated, it is just letting the customer know what size I expect them to be as adults. It is then up to the customer to decide if they want to pay that price for that kitten and if not they can continue their search.
