@raiders4life37 low action is only best for beginners.. just raise the action, it will benefit you a lot in time to come, helps with bends and vibrato too :)
why is it that anything i ever fucking buy has a problem with it. no doubt it will go back to the shop and ill have to pay more money and for whatever reason they won't be able to get in a replacement or fix it or whatever. fuckin hell
@skillzdatkillz900 Same thing for me, bro. And when I first went to the music store to fix it they told me that there was nothing wrong with it when there was clearly too much goddamn buzz.
ive got a jackson js32t and ive put 11s on it 11,14,18p,28,38,48 the top e string is buzzing all 24 frets ive adjusted the trust rod and action the action right now is 2mm at the 24th fret and .5mm on th e1st fret any idea?
Hey I got a concern. The Little Screws at the bottom of my guitar, 2 of them wont stay put, when i put in a guitar string and start tunning the little screw just sinks down. Ive cleaned it area out and it still wont stay in I dont know whats wrong. HELP
the thing is.......guitars are not all created equal, regardless of brand or price. You can have two (or ten) of the same type guitar, brand new, and you will be able to get the action much lower (w/out fret buztz) on one than the other. Thats why I never go by any string height measurements. Just get the action as low as you can w/out buzzing and then set up the rest of the guitar
Just for all Brits, a 2p coin is 2mm thick, which is where u want the lower E string to sit.
Traditional wisdom says the higher E should sit 1.5mm above the fret (1p = 1.5mm) but in reality these things are vary dependent on many different variables
I'd suggest doing the above (E - 2mm, e -1.5mm, graduate the rest), give a good hard strum, pluck the each string past the 17th fret.
If there's any buzz vibration of the strings whacking against the frets, move the bridge saddle back up.
@tomtomtom1230 well actuaky no it wouldn't . if u were to stick more than one dime it would probably be at risk of breaking and if common sense helps u, u would just use a dime like he said other than anything else so it won't break.
@antifaith82 But scalloping the frets just removes material between the frets. It's not going to help lower the action. A good fret leveling would be the recommended fix for that kind of a problem.
To be honest hexxle, I either watch all tutorials for guitar on here (youtube) or I know another site that I found on youtube called CHORDSONLINE (dot) INFO that is really really helpful, with stacks and stacks of videos, it really did help me out.
okay so i've got a question, what if your low coiled strings still buzz but ONLY when you play a fret, when they're open they don't buzz, and I know the neck's slightly bowed, but it's barely enough to actually even SEE, I had to take the neck off just to see it (with supervision). Well I raised the saddles and no matter how high they go it still seems to buzz, is it because of the nut, the bow in the neck, or the gauge of string i'm using or a mixture? i'm on 9-42 I believe.
oh yeah, never thought to check those, but I raised the saddle a bit more. Didn't realize until after I looked at the strings that I was using extreme slinky's and they were too low, but I have never checked the tuners, would that cause it to fade out of pitch if they were loose?
@Superfission you can do it yourself. but if your doing it for the first time, take notes and measurement of where it is before you start. that way if youre unhappy with what youve done you can go back to its previous setting
I have a TOM bridbe (tune o matic or somthing) on my guitar and my action is too low, cos i would like to be able to hit the strings a bit harder. would it be easy to fix by my self or should i take it to some guru`?
Yah, I thought so, but I wasn't sure. After I watched this video, I saw one on fixing your guitar's intonation; so I set up the intonation on my guitar. (Correctly.) I bought my guitar from a friend who knows nothing about guitars and really screwed up the the bridge. I also fixed the action.
low action on some guitars cause bends to fade out. commonly on 15 through 18th frets on the b and high e. play with your action to get it just right.
i aint gotta problem with uk exept wen dikz talk shit bout america. i like america there are some things i would like to change but im good here n i hate hearin dikz talk shit bout it.
I had 9 gauge strings on my guitar but I wanted a heavier sound so I changed to 11, but if I tune it to standard, the bridge goes up, and it only goes down to where it should be if i tune it down to d or lower. I dunno what to do.
take the plate of the back of the guitar,,where ur springs 4 the trem are,,there are 2 screws that hold the springs,,u need 2 tighten them wich will pull the trem back 2 flat,,this is common issue when u get bigger strings nothings wrong<< Try and let me know<<
alright thats all I needed to know. I mean I'm not afraid of numbers or anything but I fina;;y know what they meant by the 364-464. I had no idea you were actually measuring with a ruler in mm haha thanks man
I mean I've been playing for like 5 years. I do solos and chords.
my only problem is the 364th's and 464th's. I don't know what you mean by the numbers. If I can get a better understanding what they mean, it would help a lot
my ibanez says to set the treble side at 1.6mm and the bass side at 2.2mm but its way too high for me and when i set it lower i get tons of fret buzz i have floating trem on it plz help?
yea i fixed it i adjusted the truss rod it helped a little bit but i just had to ste the bass sides action a little on the high side cause i hate fret buzz. so hope tis helps:D
Bboy, that happens on all guitars with a floating bridge (tremolo). Once you tune all six strings, do it again, starting with the low E. You might have to do it 3-4 times until it is in correct pitch. Each time brings it closer. The pressure between all the strings eventually equalizing.

Did you try to say ALLEN wrench? lol and no problem, I adjusted the action without one anyway adjusting the height of the whole bridge and it worked perfect. Next time you try to make fun of someone, check ow you write, because you FAILED loooool.
1.4mm lmao, my GIO ibanez is at 2.3 mm and still has a buzzing noise on the 8th and 16th fret of the A string, the neck relief is set at factory but that god damn buzzing noise still exists, can anyone give me advice to avoid raising the action any higher , for it is too high
what are you playing? if you have a truss rod nut, you may want to adjust that as well for the lower frets, if that's where you're getting your buzz from.
So are you just simply lowering the saddle until the string are barely touching the dime resting on the 12th fret?

One guy said (JayArpeggios) "you need to raise your strings or file the 15th fret and maybe higher"
Sounds like a good ida 2 me.

Did you try to say ALLEN wrench? lol and no problem, I adjusted the action without one anyway adjusting the height of the whole bridge and it worked perfect. Next time you try to make fun of someone, check ow you write, because you FAILED loooool.

Wow, using a dime to adjust the height? I never knew this, and here i was running around looking for a ruler that measures in 64ths of an inch.
Great video.

so this is pretty much just making the strings closer to the neck right?
herbymora12 3 years ago
Yup, basically.

What about the cross head screws along the edge of the bridge? What are those for?

1.4mm lmao, my GIO ibanez is at 2.3 mm and still has a buzzing noise on the 8th and 16th fret of the A string, the neck relief is set at factory but that god damn buzzing noise still exists, can anyone give me advice to avoid raising the action any higher , for it is too high
istishhadi 3 years ago
I would say mess with the truss rod some more, or check that all your frets are in proper place

can you post a video to help lower action on a floyd-rose style bridge please!! or someone tell me on comments
slashowns102938 3 years ago
i tried setting my action with a dime but it was too low (fret buzz).
brettyf 3 years ago
what are you playing? if you have a truss rod nut, you may want to adjust that as well for the lower frets, if that's where you're getting your buzz from.
