I'm glad that Shauna was able to get out of her wheelchair and onto a horse and go horseback riding. I hope that Shauna is doing okay with her life out there in Wyoming to this very day.
Oh um, allgood2000, is it possible for you to upload the following segment of Rescue 911? I've seen this one many years ago and would like to see it again.
I use to have this episode of Rescue 911 on video tape, when I taped some reruns of this show off CBS back in the early 90s. I hope that this show will come back to CBS with newer and more recent stories. Even if they are similar to these reruns.
To this very day, I hope that Shauna is doing okay with her life out there in Wyoming, or wherever she is now. Since she's paralyzed, I'm glad that she can get out of her wheel chair and ride horses since riding horses is one of her interests.
Something similar happened on a hill near the community were I live. A girl hit a post and hurt her head really bad. Now you have to wear a helmet and you can only ride steerable things on that hill. Also, the posts are covered with something soft so you won´t get hurt if you hit them.
I got a black eye from sledding once because of something similar to this. Scary stuff. BTW, this was filmed in and around Laramie Wyoming, just like they said.
This is sad, but really... What did they think? That they could just hit the brake on that thing or steer around the hundreds of trees on the left and right?
And why didn´t they jump out as soon as they realized that is was picking up an uncontrollable speed?
I know how she felt. Like two weeks ago I had a bad accident at gymnastics and I couldnt feel my legs from my knees to my toes. I was so frightened. I got so lucky I didnt become paralyzed. I am only 12 and If I became paralyzed my life would be ruined. I have to were a back brace for the rest of my life but I am glad that is all. I am just so sorry about your sister Qdrum803.
I did that only on a tabogan and i have 140 pounds behind me(my other 4 friends) they pushed the wight on ne i bailed but my friend pulled me back in at that time i was in shock and i just put my foot out cause i didnt wanna hit my head sure i may have broken my foot in seven places but the doctors told me if i wouldnt have done that i would have died =(
But was the girl taken to the hospital by ambulance or even evaluated by the paramedics. What were her injuries. The mom should not be complaining that her daughter might not be able to ever walk again. At least she is still ALIVE!!!!
Since Rescue 911 was one TV program created due to the 1989 writers strike, I know that there has been a recent writers strike in the last year. Perhaps with this recent writers strike, I think that Rescue 911 can come back and creat newer episodes, even if they are simalar to the old reruns. It don't matter. What matters is that this show should be on television and children today can learn what the 911 system can do much better than being told at their local schools.
I don't think Rescue 911 was created due to a writers strike. Rescue 911 needed writers to write Shatner's narration, and there were plently of scripted shows in CBS's lineup in the fall 1989 season.
Well, it was mentioned somewhere that Rescue 911 was one of a lot of different television programs that were created due to the 1989 writers strike. If wherever I got that information was wrong, then my mistake.
Being paralized doesn't mean she is ok, they are at higher risks for things and some die of heart attacks at a young age. Their health is comprimized from being paralized.
all of that courage from that girl! I was so close to being like her because at school in year 9 we was all jumping on each others backs and trying to get each other down but when i did it this lad chucked me over his shoulder because he thought i was someone else and the doctor said if it wasnt for my bag being on my bag i would have snaped my back bone :(
I can solve the skiing problem, lucky for her, Monoskis and biskis have been invented to allow paraplegics to ski. We even have people at our hill that ski that have no arms and no legs. These types of disabled skis are so fine tuned to balance that a person can steer just by tilting their head to the right or to the left.
When the first girl hit the tree, she got knocked off the tube. The second girl didn't get knocked off and the tube kept going down the hill. She hit a different tree.
Death and a paralysis per year, in a small area with only 25,000- that's a big statistic, though it may not seem like it. This is why I stick to the beach, rather than skiing. This one just hurts to watch- takes my breath away and is almost hard to breathe...almost makes me want to vomit when she said she can't feel her legs..
This hurt! Once I went so fast down a hill and I hit a tree with my nose! I didn't move and I wasn't sure what happened until I snuffled my nose on the snow and I saw red! I cried after that! So this girl cracked the tree dude and herself! I'm glad u look on the bright side of things; showing instances where they survived!
I did something like that, except I got creamed by a snowmobile... Surprisingly I didn't break anything. However, it was weird because I couldn't feel either of my arms for about a minute since I was hit... It hurt like hell!
Do those tubes go faster with two people in them, does that make sense? That the more weight in the tube the faster it will travel down the mountain? Anyone know?
OMFG these re enactments are unbelievable. I am taking my daughters (6 & 8) skiing for the first time in August 07 and I was going to take them tubing for a day just to have a rest from the skiing, but, er, um, I don't know about that now. These poor girls. xoxo

One of my best friends was paralyzed when she was 12, b/c a drunk driver hit her while she was crossing the street.
She had the right of way but couldn't avoid the car which, when it hit her, threw her 30 feet.
