  • why are you letting them go away? i dont know a lot but i know that some areas alow you to fish but not killing the fish and taking with you! but why nw, i know it is a hobby but they are big fishes !

  • On this particular day, it was closed fishing for Coral reef fin species, so all coral reef species have to be released and cod were classed under this. They're were some great fish taken on plastics and lures, especially the Flowery cod, smashed a popper a metre of the rocks, so was a great capture. We do catch quite a few cod with some big ones well over 20 kilo's, you may see in some of our other videos,

    Cheers Greg

  • Peixei Orivel

  • Some good fishing, and quality cod, Best was the flowery cod on a popper,

    Cheers Greg

  • = potato cod

  • They were goldspot (estuary) and a flowery cod on the popper, great fish smashed it on the surface a metre of the rocks,

    Cheers Greg

  • No cod just grouper

  • In Australia, we call them Cod, must be similar to your Grouper, Check out our video on Coral trout, also similar to your grouper? Top day and cleaned up, great getting the one on the popper,

    Cheers Greg

  • Ok cool

  • It's called a grouper not a cod. Cod are up in Alaska

  • We call them Cod in Australia and on the Great Barrier reef,

    Cheers Greg

  • @peplo6 cod are in the Atlantic too , big shot ...

  • First fishing spot was 6 miles, but the cod bit further out amongst the islands, some good fish!!

    Cheers Greg

  • 6 mile ??

  • No cod in those waters. Cod is in the arctic waters like northern norway.

  • They're Aussie Cod, down under, different to yours, Great fish, and good fun. I think they call them Grouper in US? Pretty rare catch to get a flowery cod on a popper,

    Cheers Greg

  • nice groupers... cod no

  • In Australia, we call them Cod, Gold Spot(Estuary Cod) cod and The Flowery cod was the one on a popper, Must be similar to your gropers,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari I figured it was just a different name for the same fish... looks like a lot of fun, great fish

  • Top morning fishing, got a few Cod which isn't normal on the lures and Soft plastics, Mainly catch other species,

    But that's fishing for you,

    Cheers Greg

  • wow ugly fishy

  • You gotta love Cod, we were extra lucky to get a flowery cod on a popper,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari ahah yeps im fr nova scotia we usta have a huge cod fishery but there protected er limited ,,,im sure u no wut im talking about

  • That's a shame, professionals get too greedy and can do some damage, We have pretty strict bag limits over here on all our fishing on the reef, and still some great fishing,

    Cheers Greg

  • @Reefari--Like the Japanese you mean?

You look like you had a lot of fun and you did get a great many BIG fish ! So lucky !

  • Yes, was a top day for only a quick fishing trip, and release them all,

    Cheers Greg

  • Yeah It had a fairly good lure on it, about 4 inches long, I think they were trolling for spanish because the rod holder was on the end of the handle

  • Hey i found a rod on the bottom out on the reef, G-loomis force lite, with a shimano 6000fb reel, I got it fixed up because 3 bearings were seized, what would I be able to catch with it,

  • Sounds a good score, G Loomis are good rods, and same with Shimano. Provided the reel is serviced and still works well, you should be able to catch a good variety of reef fish,

    Cheers Greg

  • never fail to impress, boys...keep them coming

  • Was some good fun on the lures, and pretty impressed with a nice cod on a popper,

    Cheers Greg

  • the popper doesn't stay on the surface????? so how did u catch a cod???????

  • We were using the poppers up around the Islands or rocks for Giant Trevally, hooked one up but he busted us up pretty quick. We were working the poppers across the surface and that's how we got the flowery cod. Pretty rare and unusual catch,

    Cheers Greg

  • what's the technique??????u let the bait touch the bottom then u move it upward?????

  • Hi, We were using soft plastics and poppers, Just jig the soft plastics up and down on the bottome, These were berkley gulps and am impressed how well they work.

  • and do those cod have anyy relation to grouper in the atlantic?

  • I think our cod are different, we get coral trout, which someone from the US called grouper. Check out our Coral trout video and see if the same.

    Cheers Greg

  • man greg, just seeing the color and look of that fish makes me so hungry i need some grouper for the grill i hate this time of year

  • Was a good day, and got some good fish on the lures,

    cheers Greg

  • Awesome Catch

I never seen a Cod caught on a popper before...

  • Was a top catch, a flowery cod on a popper, 1st I've seen, smashed the lure about a metre from the rocks up on the surface, EXCELLANT!!

    Cheers Greg

  • nice catch.. wouldve been good to get that GT in.. do you usually catch cod on poppers??

  • Hi, was some good Cod fishing, First Cod I've seen caught on a popper, and especially a Flowery Cod, pretty rare at the best of times, so to get on a popper was awesome,

    cheers Greg
