  • Hi I can't seem to find the app on my iPhone 4 ... Also can't get to the website

  • @maximnaviede Your device must be jailbroken. Then you should find the app in the cydia app store. I'm not sure why you are having trouble finding the website. Please follow the link to the FAQ in the video description above. If you are still having trouble, please send me email.

  • it wont let me use it iphone 4 4.3.3

  • @Pandasmiles12 It should. Please email me and I will help you.

  • pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing!

  • @unicuber thats awesome! it is possible, that would be way cool

  • I had this idea as an application a while ago and am glad to see it exists...another idea I had though is to be able to receive texts through morse code by using the iphone's vibrations, a short vibrate for a dit and a long vibrate for a dah. that way you'd be able to read a person's text as it arrives in your pocket without taking your phone.

    Wouldn't that be sweet?

  • What does AS length mean? And for those saying Typing Sebastian isn't working, buy it from the app store and stop being cheap =]

    I'm loving this thanks

  • @eXpon69 thanks for your message. AS length only affects autospacing (i.e. only if you have autospacing turned on). It is the number of "dit lengths" of silence (after decoding a letter) before which a space will automatically be inserted. Traditional spacing in morse code is 7 dit lengths but you can make this shorter or longer depending on your preference. In particular it may help to make it longer when you are learning.

  • yeah Typing Sebastian isn't working for me

  • @Multiplex55 The latest iDDT (1.7) should work with the newer version of Typing Sebastian.

  • so I have bought and downloaded the app from cydia and then went and purchased the typing sebastian app to practice. But... slight problem of the typing sebastian app does not have the option for the iddt features.

What do I need to do (if anything) to activate the feature?

But, in the meantime I LOVE the app. THANKS!!!

  • @f1r3bug Hi, thanks for the message. The latest typing sebastian update broke the iddt features. I'm working on an update for iddt right now to revive it. Should release sometime this week.

  • android version - please,please, please, soon,soon,soon?

  • Love the fake inbox messages lmao I have the app that changes it's number

  • needs to be developed for Android. would pay good money for it!

  • Please please please, we need an Android version. Any chance ?

  • This was the app that made jailbreaking my first iPhone (a 3G) a must. It proved to be nothing less than fantastic. I am a long time ham operator, but I was a reluctant morse aficionado for decades before I buckled down , and learned the code back in the '90's.

After I passed the 20 wpm test for my Extra ticket via brute force misery, I visited the CW band sections from time to time over the years, but my skill level declined to a crawl, and the "fun" pretty much evaporated.

    Then, I heard abo

  • @Voyager13b hi thanks for your message. last part got clipped, please send me email to continue. 73, kb1ooo

  • Pls help me! i installed this on my iPhone 3GS on 4.0.1 and didnt like it so i tried to uninstall and a pop up msg saying "Subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1" pls help me with this problem! thanks.

  • @irockdemdunks please send me email or contact me on twitter kb1ooo

  • That's really cool

    K5FAL

  • @fnfal308 what is K5FAL?

  • @thechochris K5FAL is his amateur radio (ham radio) call sign, just like mine is KB1OOO. There are thousands of ham radio operators (hobbyists) still using morse code today. See the amateur radio wiki page for more information.

  • Does this support foreign accents?

  • @feepjr yes, it supports accents available for European languages, Russian, and Japanese Katana.

  • interssiert kein schwein.... sowas soll amateurfunk sein bzw. hat nichts mit afu zu tun ihr pfeiffm

  • @oe7er not sure exactly what you are trying to say because I don't speak German but the connection I was trying make to ham radio was simply to show that many people use morse code at high speed, so anyone is capable of learning to use iDDT.

  • @kb1ooo

OE7er appears to be an agitator, most likely a frustrated underdog.

You are recommended to delete this unqualified bullshit.

    Appreciate your VIdeo a lot

  • K7TP - here - I have it now. Thanks; this is fun!

  • kb1ooo !!! are there any plans to develop this app for android ???

  • I dont know if its just me but I cant get the iditdahtext plug in for iditdahtext

  • You mean the Typing Sebastian program? More info please so I can help.

  • world record is 75 words per minute. 5 wpm is good for a beginner. and getting above 20 is hard.

for morse lovers or just for the sake of leatrning it.

but probably wont make your typing faster any time soon.

  • getting to 20wpm isn't hard. Using the typing sebastian program together with iDDT, people are getting above 20wpm in days. certainly not any longer than a standard touch typing course.

  • that is amazing what an incredible idea.

but it looks like i wont buy an iphone since they have troubles jailbreaking the new bootrom i doubt they will be able to jailbreak iphone 4g which i was waiting to buy.

a romance that couldnt even start. TT

  • any chance of getting this on non-jailbroken phones?

  • Not unless Apple eventually allows 3rd parties to develop keyboard plugins. Unlikely...

  • not unless Apple allows 3rd party developers to write keyboard plugins. Maybe when 4g comes out but doubtful.

  • Is there any similar software for windows??

  • takes fucking 3 sec to type a letter XD. instead of 1 button for each letter u have to push and hold and shit. :P

  • Once you learn, you can enter very quickly. In the video, I'm entering at 50wpm. Also, you don't have to look at the screen so you have true touch typing.

  • Take a look at how quickly he does it at the beginning.

The reason I love this is, I don't have to LOOK AT the iphone to send a text or email. I can text without ever taking my eyes off the road. :)

I upped your comment because I think it's a decent concern, if poorly and aggressively worded. Learning to send IMC is a lot easier than learning to receive it for most people.

  • Nice.

    -Steve N7TX

  • lol Angelina Jolie

  • Hi.. i Purchased this for my Ipod Touch but the "Slide" Bar menu dose not work.. Any idea?

  • slide your finger from left to right or right to left on the top bar. Doesn't work from the lock screen. See 0:43 to 0:47 of the video. let me know if you still have problems.

  • @kb1ooo i was trying it and it wasnot working.. but then i charged my ipod and it worked then.. dont know why lol... Let the Morse Code Begin :P

  • @kb1ooo Having the same issue. What screen are you in when you do this, and did I need to install something else first?

  • @k7tp And I did read the FAQ - just don't seem to have this SB toggle!

  • I don't have an iPhone, shame this isn't available as a Windows/Linux app. 73 Mike M0SAZ

  • u type so fast XD

  • Any plans for an Android version?

  • Sorry, no not at this time.

  • Curious, what program did you use to jailbreak your iphone or ipod touch 32gig? Trying to find one i know will work and i can trust.

  • blackra1n

Note that if you have a new ipod touch, this jailbreak will be a "tethered" jailbreak meaning that when you reboot your device, you will have to run blackra1n again.

  • Hi i installed the Blackrain and brought your CW program then installed it but there isnt a iditdah icon :(

    Please help.

    James/KB3SKU

    73

  • when i first got my ipod touch i used Itunes to unlock it/activate. how do i do it where i dont need blackrain?

  • oh!! so sorry lol when i swiped where it has Ipod, time and battery it came down with a window. LOL i didnt even know that was there duh.

    Sorry :( I'm a newb to IPod Touch :(

  • Hi, glad you got it working. Again, the jailbreak is tethered for the new devices meaning that if you reboot it, then you have to run blackra1n again. I have a new 3gs and it's not much of a problem for me, just keep your device charged.

    -kb1ooo

  • Thank you for the help. Sweet program and i also brout the typing program, pretty cool.

Maybe now ill finally learn CW so i can go on 40m as a Technician Class lol.

    James/KB3SKU

    73

  • happy to chat on 40m anytime :)

    kb1ooo

  • meh i need to learn to spell lol.

    its brought not brout

  • any chance this would work on the IPod Touch 32gig? Without jailbreaking the phone?

    err what is jailbreaking?

Getting the IPod Touch 32g tomorrow, cant wait will be my first IPod Touch/ Apple Product.

  • iDitDahText works on the iPod Touch but sorry, it will not work without jailbreaking your device.

  • bummer :(

Dont want to jailbreak it,im too afraid of it becoming a brick, can it become a brick or can ya just reset?

  • cool stuff but im way faster tying with regular keyboard on my iphone

  • way faster than what, 50wpm?

  • i have an iphone 2g, i probably need the fuckin 3g for this to work, huh? i have it jailbroken and i purchased this app, but i can't get the SBSettings thing to come down

  • You do *not* need a 3g device. There should be no problem using SBSettings and iDitDahText on a 2g. To launch SBSettings you swipe the status bar (at top with AT&T logo, time, battery, etc). Email me if you are still having problems.

  • How did you manage to replace the default keyboard on the SMS application

  • It just replaces the keyboard

  • Ps youguys it requires you to jailbreak your iphone or ipod touch and spend was it 1or 2 dolars but yes is cool.

  • What app is this?

  • It's in the cydia store, iDitDahText , you have to jailbreak your iphone/ipod touch first

  • At 45 seconds how did u bring that quick menu down. What app is that?

  • SBSettings. You need to jailbreak your phone to get it as well as iDitDahText.

  • This is the best app for an Iphone I've ever seen. The guy who invented this is a genius. He must have a Phd. Oops! He does.

  • The irony here is thicker than Angelina Jolie's lips! A morse-code entry interface on the iPhone - brilliant! Talk about technology coming full-circle. Well done, kb1ooo!!!

  • this looks to fucking hard im sticking to my 09 sidekick

  • it's really pretty easy to learn. If you look at the the comments in cydia, you will see that people are getting to 20+ wpm after just 4hrs of playing the game.

  • thast true im on 30 after several hrs

  • Ah, looks cool, but would anyone familiar with morse be able to understand my private text messages as I type them?

  • Hi Telecart,

Yes they would. However, I find that I can turn down the gain so low that people near me can barely hear it at all, yet it's audible enough for me to use. When you get good enough, you can pretty successfully enter text without even the audio.

  • Genious!

  • thank you so much for this! so so awsome

  • So I got my hands on it, and it's awesome. I never thought learning to use Morse Code would be fun, but the game is actually entertaining. So you can play the game while learning a new "language." Good job, kb1ooo!

  • @NotKrazyKristian Your not learning a new language at all. It is still English, and is just another sound for the characters. Thats why you have to learn Morse by sound and not sight. The written Dot/Dash list shouldnt even be written! How do you write down the sound of a Robin, or a monkey??? I would love to try this Iphone program, but dont own a device to play it on! I think I know someone that might have this! It seems like a great idea! KE7ZVJ

  • Looks pretty cool. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy this. I don't know how good I'll do with it but it'll be fun to try.

  • This is really an amazing way to type on an iPhone and learn something at the same time.

  • You made it look so cool, I'm almost convinced. Just not confident in my ability to learn morse, though.

  • Morse code may be old or out dated, but it has some advantages. Just think how handy this would be if your trying to text while driving( not that I recommend it)? It'll definitely make texting faster and easier. The only tough thing for me right now is learning morse code. But I'm sure I can pick it up fairly quickly.

  • I'm sorry but morse code is dead. How is this more practical than the keyboard. I'm not hating or anything like that. I'm just saying...

  • Obviously you didn't see the part where he demonstrated it.

  • 1. you can type very fast.

    2. you don't have to look at the keyboard to type.

    3. you don't have to look at the keyboard to know what you've typed or mistyped because you have audio feedback.

morse code isn't dead. used by thousands every day in ham radio, and in emergency communication. i can talk with someone across the world with nothing but a 3 watt radio and a wire antenna. no towers, no satellites, no internet.

  • How many people use morse code compared the the ammount of people that use keyboards? All I'm saying is that I think the keyboard is more prectical for me. I'm sure thats this keyboard is much faster IF you can use morse code. I can't. Sorry.

  • llinxx, get typing sebastian from the app store together with iDitDahText and you'll learn very quickly.

  • Hi,curious can this help someone learn CW and use it on ham radio?

    Signed; KB3SKU

    73 :)

  • Yes, it can help you learn to send cw. It's a fully functional dual (or single) paddle with iambic keyer. With a simple circuit you could even use it to key your rig from the audio out. The game is a really fun and quick way to learn.

    73,

    kb1ooo

  • im currently using it to learn cw and its helping so much! i went from 15 wpm to 39 in just a couple days from using this. quite helpful i thought.

  • hehe its not dead go on the HF bands, its alive and well :)

    Signed; KB3SKU

    73 :)

  • Seriously, dude. When can i get my hands on this?

  • u can get it now in cydia for a small charge

  • Do a search in cydia for iDitDahText, thanks.

  • Real cool way of typing. Once u have hold on it, then there is no match.

  • nice way to type! :)

    5*

    app dl'ed from cydia :)

  • Cool stuff, kb1ooo!
